Amazing and Relaxing Resort Haven”
Nirvana resort was exactly that - a little slice of heaven perfectly situated amongst two beautiful beaches. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the manager Tom is always available to give great advice on tours, activities etc. The resort arranges transfers to and from the main Pier and some private beaches in the area and day trips. They also assist with finding and booking tours and activities all over the island. The whole resort has been beautifully decorated and landscaped, and the rooms are tastefully decorated with thai and balinese style. Very spacious and very clean with stunning views of both the sunrise (oceanfront views) and sunset (on resort's own boardwalk). The area of Bang Bao itself is visually stunning with some of the best fresh seafood you will taste anywhere in the world! It is a quiet town at the far South of Koh Chang, with a real charm and relaxing feel. Being the main access point to the Southern islands for snorkelling, fishing and diving, Nirvana resort was the ideal location for booking these tours and activities. The restaurant at Nirvana sits on the water (stilts) with a lovely view of the main pier and bay. The food is delicious and both breakfast and dinner menus were amazing. (We would recommend trying the french toast for breakfast - simply amazing!) The resort has a lovely warm and friendly feel. It is a true gem and perfect for couples, honeymooners or families that prefer a quiet and relaxing place to stay. We enjoyed every part of our stay at Nirvana and even extended our stay! I would definitely stay here again!

Visit Nirvana! ”
We stayed at Nirvana for 10 days over Christmas 2009 and would definitely visit again. We picked the hotel because it is small, only 11 rooms, and in a peaceful location in the south west of Koh Chang. The hotel is on a small peninsula, with water on both sides and has been beautifully designed and laid out to make the most of the landscape. The rooms are spread out, some on the beach and some up on the hillside. I highly recommend rooms 1 through 4, which are right on the beach. The beach itself is not great, very narrow and because it faces Bang Bao village the water is not very clean, but it is nice to have a room right on the beach with a view out to sea and of the village and the boats coming and going. We didn't mind about the beach too much because they do clean it every day and it was good enough for our kids to play on the sand, and for swimming there are two great pools, one freshwater rock pool on the hillside and one salt water pool by the beach. Another great advantage is the rocky bay right behind the hotel where the water is very clean. It's a little rocky getting into the water but good for swimming and snorkelling. Apparently it's one of the few spots on Koh Chang where you can snorkel right from the island. We also liked the restaurant in this bay, Cliff Cottages, a very relaxing spot to hang out after a swim. The restaurant at Nirvana was beautiful, the waiter Sert is a star and we loved our individually prepared breakfasts. The dinner menu is not huge and we only ate here 3 or 4 times, but the standard is generally high and it's not too expensive, though Cliff Cottages next door had cheaper and better Thai Food. Service was uniformly friendly and good, especially Sonny in reception, Sert in the restaurant and Charlie at the pool bar. The manager is also helpful. Other great features are the sunset platform and hill walk and the location within 10 minutes walk of Bang Bao village for shopping and eating. There is also a nice beach on the other si

a little slice of nirvana, ”
Nirvana was the perfect place to end our two week travels. Within walking distance or motor boat ride (free with hotel!) from the fishing village of Bang Bao, with all it's local markets, restaurants and fishing piers, this resort truly was Nirvana. The rooms are beautifully decorated, comfortable, and spacious, with attention to every detail. The jungle walk above the villas is home to families of wild monkeys, exotic plants and birds and takes you to a long wooden footbridge along the sea cliff to a perfect sunset viewing spot. The salt and fresh water pools are the perfect temperature. The staff is friendly, smiling and happy to set up any local excursions (snorkeling, diving, island hopping, free transport to and from town or a nearby white sand beach by boat or taxi). The resort's restaurant serves delicious Thai fare and cocktails in a beautiful setting over the water in the open air. Free kayaks to use in the cove. The poolside bar makes fabulous fruitshakes and snacks prepared on ordering. There are small buddhist shrines at which to meditate scattered along the resort's property. If you are looking for quiet, restfulness, a break from open air Bungalows and the busier, party and bar oriented areas of Koh Chang, this is your place. Also, an affordable laundry service for those items you desperately want to dry out after two weeks of more rustic stays in Southeast Asia!

A delightful resort in a calm environment”
the nirvana is one of the best hotels i have stayed on. for a couples retreat its just perfect. it has two nice swimming pools, the restaurant serves great food, and the staff is very helpfull and nice. the location is a bit outside bang bao.the hotel offers free driving to and from bang bao, although we found it easier to walk to bang bao on a path along the shore witch takes you about 10 minutes. the staff has no problem lending you a flashlight if you are to walk in the night. there is no beach along the resort, but the hotel has a boat and drives you over to a nice beach in about 10 minutes. other features are free dvds, breakfast early if you need, and a helpful australian (we think) manager with lot of travelling tips on koh chang. the only thing it could have benefited from is a small gym. it's not to much to do at a hotel, and when you lie on a beach all day some exercise possibilities would have been nice. the hotel has to kajaks for free lending, but a gym would have made it perfect.

Brilliant”
This is one of my favorite resorts on Ko Chang; I've traveled there several times over the years both solo, with friends and with family. Usually I get around by motorbike (and you really have to be comfortable on a motorbike to use one on Chang due to the steep turns), and that makes this resort's location a plus for me. It's so quiet there and I loved how the sea splashes up on both sides of the resort, which is located on the narrowest part of a peninsula that forms one side of Bang Bao Bay. I especially enjoyed the west-facing side for sunsets and I even discovered some hiking trails on the headland that goes up behind the resort. The resort itself is just beautiful, a work of art I would say. The pool is excellent and the receptionist strikes a balance of being laid back yet professional and always approachable. They were doing some maintenance but even with that going on at some points during the day, the atmosphere was serene and ideal for relaxation.

Beautiful place”
It is a very nice place to stay if you want to get away from the hustling and bustling of the more crowded places on Koh Chang. At the same time it is easy to walk to Bang Bao where there are many small shops and where you can easily catch a boat to do diving. The hotel´s staff were kind but English was not everyones strength and it was a bit complicated to get transport arranged from Nirvana. Furthermore, the taxis arranged by the lodge was overly expensive (double price to go from the place compared to going back). But all in all a nice experince to stay there.

Very pleasant three-night stay”
This is a really nice place. It's outside of Bang Bao but the hotel provides a free boat to the beach and a bus to Bang Bao pier. The setting is really nice with a viewpoint overlooking the bay, they even provide cocktails and drinks during sunset. Make sure you get to the viewpoint early to get a drink in before the bus leaves to the pier if you want to do both in an evening, though. The swimming pool is great and the breakfast overlooking the bay is top class. I especially liked the Madame et Monsieur on the menu. The staff were helpful yet the resort has a nice laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Bang Bao itself is a lovely spot and the restaurants on the pier are very reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights here.

Truly Nirvana!”
we stayed at nirvana for 4 days, during the "off season" period in thailand. because of this, the resort was quite empty. we were on a honeymoon so didn't really mind all that much. the service was pretty good. most of them didn't know english, but they made up for this with their enthusiasm and sweet smiles. the room was cozy and beautiful, not too big. the resort was sandwiched between two bays (no beaches) and gave a lovely view. the staff were flexible and extremely helpful. they even allowed us to go swimming at around midnight, putting the lights on just for us. we noted just two significant cons at nirvana. 1. the food at the much-publicised tantra restaurant wasn't great, had very little choice and was really expensive. we think this may have been because it wasn't the peak season. the ambience of the place was, however, really lovely. 2. nirvana is really far from the rest of the town (except bang bao village) and the hilly roads there often didn't have streetlights. we, therefore, had to make our way back early. we did discover the delighful little village at bang bao a little later and had two lovely dinners there (as well as bought some good souvenirs). having said this, we loved our stay at nirvana and would definitely recommend it.

Perfect Honeymoon Destination”
my wife and i both thought this was the best place we stayed during our honeymoon in thailand. the location on the southernmost tip of bang bao bay, next to a small nature reserve, is unmatched on the island. there is a sundeck and great access to both beach and jungle- we even got some photos of local monkeys. all of our needs were anticipated by the staff, and the knowledgeable manager was even able to advise us on later parts of our trip to bangkok and chiang mai. nirvana really made our honeymoon. thanks!

A place out of the ordinary”
We stayed in two different rooms - a bayview and a seafront. Both nice little huts with lovely views of the bay. The rooms are decorated with style and humour. Balinese hardwood and classic rock gig posters. The beds are comfortable with nice white linen. The gardens are beautifully maintained and the restaurant is one of the better places in the area to eat - try a watermelon shake. A family of monkeys hang around the hotel grounds. They can be mischievous, so don't leave stuff on the porch, that you're fond of. Both pools are really nice, but the pool deck by the bay was in need of a bit of repair when we stayed. The beach is not great. It is too close to the pier of Bang Bao, so the water is a bit murky. On the flipside you can easily walk to Bang Bao which offers a variety of tour operators plus places to eat and also a bit of shopping. The Nirvana staff is really nice and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay in Nirvana a lot.

Idyllic place”
We had such a lovely stay that we extended our time at Nirvana. The room overlooked the bay and we awoke each morning to the sun rising over the sea and palms swaying gently. The restaurant has a limited menu but the food was excellent. It is a wonderful spot to have dinner - very romantic. Unfortunately the CD sometimes plays music that jars in such a peaceful setting. We went to Bang Bao to dive but sadly the conditions were poor but even so, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nirvana. We will return.

Modern, secluded gem on over-developed Koh Chang”
Well put-together resort, with excellent value for your money. We were backpacking through Southeast Asia, and this was our final destination, so we wanted to splurge a bit. This is great if you are looking for a good mix between relative seculsion and modern amenities. We really appreciated the finishing touches in the rooms and around the resort, in-keeping with the "nirvana" theme. Be sure to try the Tantra restaurant for dinner, and the rock wall deck for sunset cocktails. Ask the GM Tom about free boat transfer to Bang Bao Village or a great under-used beach. Ko Wai day trip also recommended for snorkelling fans.

NIRVANA Koh Chang”
We chose the Nirvana for a few days rest - and could not have made a better choice. The hotel is quiet, and secluded. The location is ideal for kicking back with a good book at one of the swimming pools, or just taking in the view across the water to Bang Bao port, or watch the sea eagles hunting in the bay. Some of the bungalows are on the edge of the water, so you can sleep to the sound of the waves - very relaxing! Bang Bao village is a 10 minute walk and provides excellent sea food, shops, tours and diving possibilities.

Lovely hotel and great location”
Lovely hotel, set far way from the tourist hell of north Koh Chang island. A haven of peace and tranquility. Room was fantastic with 50 inch LCD TV and surround sound system. Staff at front desk were only let-down. Poor English and not particularly helpful. On the other hand, the staff in the restaurant were so lovely and attentive and really helped make our stay. The view from our bungalow was fantastic with lovely views of the bay and the nearby fishing village. A lot of people have commented that the only downside was not having a beach, but that is what made the resort so great for us because it was so quiet - we literally spend 3 days in hammocks just reading and enjoying the view. The food at the restaurant was amazing quality and reasonably priced. There is also a lovely sundeck which you can walk to in the resort and catch amazing sunsets. I think it is probably one of the best hotels on the island.

Beautiful resort in paradise”
Truly a beautiful resort, our Artist House was a two room villa with an excellent home theater (50" Plasma, surround sound) in one room and a luxurious bed and bath in the other. The resort is quiet and spreads over a lovely jungly grounds with two swimming pools (one saltwater, one fresh) and many nooks and crannies to relax in. The restaurant was fancy, food was decent but very expensive for nicer dishes and didn't feel fully authentic Thai, a bit "boutique-y" in my opinion. Also, vegetarian options were light (my girlfriend is vegetarian), but breakfast was very good. The resort is not close to an ocean beach and is a bit of a far walk to the village of Bang Bao nearby, but they do offer shuttle service there (didn't take it ourselves). Cons would be the distance from swimmable ocean and town, and that the restaurant wasn't quite what we wanted, would have preferred one with more standard dishes and better pricing since its really the only nearby food option. Overall, an excellent romantic getaway for a young couple or family.

Nirvana Resort - a hidden treasure”
Our stay at Nirvana was overall very pleasant, and we will return again next year. Having said that, the promotional pictures etc used for marketing are VERY outdated, and the star attraction - "sunset walk" is NOT SAFE anymore, and unfertunately, should be closed. The wood used for all construction was rotten, and many of the boards on the deck were simply no longer there! this was however the only dissapointing aspect of this great little resort. The location was fantastic - especially if you like the quiet life. there are NO bars etc in "BangBao", which added to the appeal. For small kids, the staff are great, and one of Nirvana's greatest assets. A rental "scooter" is a must when staying at Nirvana as it takes about 20mins to walk each way to the Bangbao fishing village - much more fun on a scooter !! This resort is perfect for families who enjoy nature, and are NOT scared about small geckos in the rooms etc. Rooms are really good, and spacious, A/C is fine - so all you need & expect from a "jungle" bungalow. Despite the rotten wood & repairs that need doing, i would DEFINATELY recommend this location & resort for all EASY GOING AND RELAXED visitors.

Hotel for chilling out”
Nirvana is a peaceful hotel set on an isthmus, backing onto the rain forest, and looking across the bay towards the stilted fishing village of Bang Bao. It is a pretty unspoilt part of Koh Chang although more development of Bang Bao is underway. The architecture is in tune with the surroundings and the rooms use lots of natural materials, sometimes in a quirky way. An ideal hotel for doing nothing in particular.

Great secluded venue, rooms, hotel and restaurant”
We arrived for a long weekend, unfortunately raining a lot, but staff was always ready to make us enjoy the rainy days- you can lend DVDs, books, massages in the room. it's lovely to go, if you wish for a secluded, quiet stay with your partner, away from nightlife Koh Chang- however, the fisher's village is very close and offers pubs, restaurants and nice walks as well. Don't go, if you plan on high-nightlife backpacker holidays, that's not Nirvana. Nirvana is a place to stay and enjoy privacy, enjoy very good food in an amazingly designed restaurant, be surrounded by jungle and do nothing.

Nirvana superb!”
As this was my second stay I was wondering if Nirvana was as good as I remembered. It was! You will not find a better value boutique resort on Koh Chang. Located as far south on the island as you can go, at the end of a very rough entrance track you find an oasis from heaven. Only 11 bungalows ensures privacy and peace whilst being attended to with courtesy and attention to detail. I will definitely return again.

Great location, wonderful service and restaurant .”
I stayed in 3 different places on Koh Chang, this was the highlight. Large rooms with a very comfortable bed and excellent pillows. Hotel is right at the bottom of the island away from the busy tourist areas, past Bailan. Easy to get the pier at Bang Bao for shops and cafes, plenty of fresh fish and all the island diving and tour boats.
