A little too fancy for this backpacker's taste”
I normally would not spend this much money for a hotel, and the only reason I did was because I booked last minute and it was the only thing I could find that wasn't an hour away from Tenjin or Hakata. I intend to spend the rest of this review being sore over how expensive it was. Finding the hotel was a little confusing because there are two Nishitetsu Grand Hotels that show up in a Google Maps search. Check in was simple enough that I was able to do it with my limited Japanese. The lobby was crowded with Chinese tour groups, and for as much as I paid, I was a little angry that I didn't get carried to my room in a sedan chair. The entire hotel was beautiful and clean, and the service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. I got to my room and saw that everything inside was immaculate and tastefully matched. I had reserved a room for one person, but they gave me a room with two beds. The beds were very comfortable, and slept really well after a night of feasting and drinking with friends in Tenjin. Meals were not included with my reservation, and while there was a water boiler and free tea, but the minibar charged a fee. The major disappointment for me was that I paid so much, and I don't really feel like this hotel provided anything that I couldn't have gotten for half--or even a quarter--of the price. I would not recommend it for humble solo travelers. The only person I would recommend this for is someone who is trying to impress his girlfriend by extravagantly wasting his cash. If you're planning to travel to Fukuoka, always book in advance so you don't get stuck with overly nice, overly expensive places like this.
Downtown, close to JR, close to shopping”
The hotel location is in Tenjin which is the place for shopping and dining. The JR station is just across the road and there are plenty of choices for dining. The room that we are staying was just opposite a church. As a result, on Sunday morning when the church bell rings, it is very noisy. Cant remember what time, probably around 8 or 9am which affects our sleep. But the good side is the hotel check out time is 12 noon (standard check out time for other JP hotels are 10 am), which gives us more time to pack our luggage. Front desk staff are very helpful, they help us to trolley in our luggage to our room. If we come back to Fukuoka, we will definitely stay in this hotel again.
Will stay here again”
We enjoyed our stay at Nishitetsu Grand Hotel very much. Location is great and breakfast is good too. We have some time before departure and had a great time sitting at the hotel lounge, enjoying afternoon tea with great service that also prided with it's beautiful garden landscape.
Perfect Location, Old but large room”
Overall very pleased and surprised with our stay at the Nishitetsu Grand. Check-in was from 14:00 compared to the usual 15:00 in most other local hotels, and even though we arrived 15 mins early we were still able to check-in, instead of leaving our bags. Staff were very attentive and we were escorted all the way from the lobby to the room, normally only see this at the more expensive hotels in my experience so far in Japan. The location is perfect for the shopping area of Tenjin, Fukuoka's best place for shops, cafes, restaurants - including the local nakasu, daimyo and imaizumi areas. This is the area you want to stay if you're here for a short, fun visit. We were instantly surprised how large the room was, considering it was a standard double. All provided information was duplicated in English, which was great, along with free wifi access (pin available via tv). It was a smoking room, and the interior was a bit grubby. The room was very well lit, but the walls were quite badly stained toward the ceiling in places - that was the only let down really. The bed was large and very comfortable, aircon worked very well, there was a large desk with a big mirror and a coffee table plus two chairs. Extremely spacious, and comfortable. One last minor flaw was the lack of plug sockets, which seems quite common here.
Great location in the heart of Tenjin”
My family stayed at Nishitetsu Grand for 4 nights until January 1st, 2019. Location was perfect as it was close to everything, from convenience stores (family mart) to shopping (Zara, Forever 21, Addidas and etc) and restaurants (Ikinari steak, ippudo and Ichiran) all of them was within 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Room size was average for 2 adults and 2 luggages. Will definitely recommend.
Great location and service ”
Within 3-5 minutes walking distance to the Tenjin station, a great choice for those who are traveling via Nishitetsu services. It’s a relatively old hotel but the serice is great and rooms are decent. Double standard rooms Re spacious and very comfy.
Exceptional”
The 22 sqm room was cramped but I would recommend the hotel for its location. The Yakitori resto across from the Hotel was excellent; Tempura Hirao around the corner from the Hotel was excellent as well. The Tenjin subway entrance was a few meters from the Hotel; walking distance to Don Quijote and all major malls. Next time, I would get a bigger size room.
Great location ”
Located around lots of shops, restaurants & subway station & yatai(food stalls) which open from 6pm onwards. The hotel is a bit dated but clean. The breakfast served was great but same selections for the 3 days we stayed. One of the reasons I chose this hotel is because it has a laundromat but it was actually not available. It costs around 3000yen for taxi from the hotel to international airport Fukuoka or one can take a bus 310yen from tenjin bus terminal which is located around 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
Very good”
It is a decent business hotel located at the heart of Tenjin. The reception staff are well trained, good mannered, can speak some English. The hotel looks age aged but ias has been managed well. Apparently we had been upgraded to a better room with a roomy bathroom. It was a pleasant stay for us and we would certainly consider coming back to this hotel if we would come to Fukuoka again.
Great place to stay at Tenjin”
Hotel was in The Central location of Tenjin, with many shopping Malls and eateries all within walking distance. Room is clean. Staff at concierge was excellent in helping us with our queries. Great place to stay if you intend to explore Tenjin.
Everything was so great, and good. ”
I wanted to stay the NG Hotel for long time, but used to be too expensive for business. Very much satisfied with the stay as I thought your treatment attitudes were really traditinally #1 hotel in Fukuoka. Though I couldn't take any meal this time, I would like to try breakfast next time. Why not appoint your hotel as my regular hotel whenever I visit Fukuona.
Nice location, rather old but neat”
Nice location. just 5 minutes walk from Tenjin station and have everything you need nearby - restaurants, malls and places to drop by for coffee! The hotel seems to be old but well maintained, everything was neat and comfortable. They even offered bath soaks for amenities which I found very satisfying. Staffs were nice (they spoke english) and they also kept my baggage after checking out.
Great hotel in a great location!”
This hotel was one of the best stays I have experienced in Fukuoka. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff spoke English well and were kind and helpful. The location was conveniently located near the subway station, shopping, and many restaurants. My family and I are looking forward to staying here again
Exceptional”
The hotel located in tanjin with shops, restaurants and everything you need in walk distance. I will recommend the hotel and choose to stay here when traveling in Fukuoka again. The pillows and quilts are not comfortable.
Great location at Tenjin and fanstasic service ”
Service was very good. Asked for an adaptor at the reception and they immediately sent it to my room. That’s service. They also booked the taxi to the airport for us. Service was always with a smile. Location was one of the best at Tenjin, near all the great eats and shopping. Getting around was very convenient. Highly recommend. Stayed 5 nights.
Very convenient ”
Location is in the heart of Tenjin. Shopping, resto, subway are all stone throw away from the hotel. Room is clean, sumptuous breakfast, accommodating and very kind staff.
Reasonable hotel for any type of travellers”
Room & bathroom was relatively small for a scale of this hotel, but clean, with no trace of cigarette smell. Reasonable for a solo traveller like me. Location was still good, close to main shopping district in Tenjin but there seem to be more hotels nearer Tenjin station at similar price.
excellent stay at the NIshitetsu Grand Hotel”
In terms of location, one could not ask for more. it is so conveniently located in Tenjin by bus taxis and even a short walk to the train station. The staff all can speak english, were so helpful, and ever ready to assist us at anytime when required. Very comfortable stay amidst quiet premises and near to convenience stores, food and shopping.
Exceptional”
Everything was great. Very good service, nice location at the canter of Fukuoka, well-equipped and clean room. Will definitely choose to stay next time coming to Fukuoka.

I’ve stayed at the Grand hotel many times and always satisfied. The location is excellent for shopping, restaurants, and Subway. As always the staff is exceptionally helpful, professional, and friendly. 👍🏻😊
