Very good
Location rating score
It's definitely worth staying here if you want to stay away from the center for a good, peaceful rest but still stay on a raft.

Fantastic”
About a 27 min walk from the Kanchanaburi railway station. I had the river view fan room with private bathroom and shower. I would say bring sound proof headphones if the sound of nature does get a bit loud, but otherwise, I had an amazing night of sleep.. It gets a bit chilly at night, but they provide blankets. There's a bicycle rental place not far, and everything is within biking distance or walking distance. The food is all home made and cooked fresh on the spot, HUGE selection of food and everything I ordered was delicious. The family/staff was amazing and so nice. I wish I was able to have stayed a few more nights, Kanchanaburi and Nita Raft House was a wonderful experience.
relaxing stay on the river”
I loved my stay at Nita Raft House. Waking up on the river, watching the sun light up the water and the nearby mountains. Beautiful. The food was excellent - both of the owners are excellent cooks. Every meal is like eating at your parents' house - if your parents were Thai. Do, however, ask for spicy if you like spicy, otherwise they may assume you don't. There are a couple things to be aware of: 1) the raft house is close to the bus station and the night market.. It's a bit of a trek to the backpacker area where the bars are located, but on the other hand, during the day, it's like a world apart. 2) floating karaoke bars blast music along the river until past midnight and may interfere with your sleep. 3) the wifi signal is fantastic but there are no outlets in the rooms. you have to charge your camera, phone, etc in the common area. when asked, the owner said he removed them because some guests were cooking in the rooms. 4) you have to buy your own toilet paper. the owner sells it at 10 baht/roll. (I don't even want to think of what guests have done with toilet paper in the past to merit the imposition of this policy.) Overall, aside from the blaring music on the river at night, staying at Nita was very peaceful and a great place to get away from it all.
Great guesthouse for the money with lovely owners and pets.”
Nitas raft guesthouse was an amazing place to stay you get rooms right on the water with a stunning view of the river and mountains in the back. They also have a mini restaurant at the guesthouse which we ate at everyday for breakfast, very very convenient. My personal favorite part was the owners and how they cared for animals that were abandoned near the river, they have a gorgeous black kitten and even a baby squirrel that they nursed back to health and is now scared of trees but loves climbing on people. I highly recommend this place for any visit to kanchanaburi.
Fantastic place to stay (with a few quirks)”
So I stayed here 3 nights after discovering that Kanchanaburi has a ton to do and this place was awesome (although has it quirks-see farther down). It’s a quaint little guest house right on River Kwai kind of away from most of the other hotels and guest houses (which I think is kind of nice) and not far from the town center. The owner is super nice and very helpful with setting up tours (the tour group he partners with is good and relatively cheap) along with general information. He and his wife are also great cooks and the have a full menu of anything you could want at a reasonable price. As for the rooms they aren’t anything fancy and not all have private bathrooms (the cheaper ones use a shared bathroom area) but are good for the price. Overall I loved it for the nice quiet atmosphere I enjoy when traveling although there are some quirks which some people might have issues with. Quirks- The rooms do not have air conditioning, only fans. This makes it a bit hot at the start of the night but it usually cools down nicely and is very comfortable. Second with the windows open and being on the river there are some sounds (creaking of the barges, wildlife and fish jumping) that take a bit of getting used to but can be relaxing once you do. The room I was in also doesn’t have any power outlets although the common living space has plenty so this was not an issue. Lastly if you bring your own food in (like dinner you grabbed from a night market) he says there is a 100 baht charge but I feels this is understandable since he does have full serve food that is delicious and cheap. So overall if you’re looking for a unique place with some character to relax for a few days this is the place to stay.
High recommend!”
I was a guest at Nita Raft house back in 2014, and years later back in Thailand I knew i'd make sure to come and stay here again. If you are looking for amazing home cooked meals, really caring and lovely hosts, and a more quiet and peaceful atmosphere, please check into this place. The owner speaks perfect englishs and helps you out with anything you need. I swear, 4 years later it was the exact same. Nothing short of a nostalgic, relaxed weekend away.
ANZAC Day in Thailand.”
The Nita Raft House suited me perfectly on my stay. I found it very relaxing and very convenient. The restaurant was fantastic; great value for money and an amazing range of food. It is a low key type of accommodation, i.e. no TV's in the rooms and no bar fridge etc, but not every traveller needs those. For a relaxing holiday that is a bit no frills, I couldn't reccommend it enough.
It's a guest house not a 5 star resort ”
Although the place is still a work in process - the owner was upgrading the facilities such as the wood floors and the bridges that connect the houses - the place is cozy, affordable, and relaxing. We both loved how friendly and kind the staff/owners were. We could have stayed with them without a doubt even if the facilities were worse. We stayed in the privates rooms with no bathrooms. It is kind of a pain to not have a bathroom, particularly when the shared bathrooms are located somewhat inconveniently. We'd suggest to fork over the few bucks and upgrade to the raft house with bathrooms. You won't regret it, I promise. Breakfast (not included) and location were on point, and they have a whole binder with detailed instructions into how to get to the areas main attractions, buses, and prices. They really put some work into that thing. Definitely stay, you won't regret it. It should be a perfect rating, but the work in process was a little inconvenient. If we're back, there's no doubt it would be fine since construction will be done by then.
Lovely guest house ”
This is an absolutely great choice for Kanchanaburi. It's less than 10 minutes away from the bus station and the location is lovely : you're right on the river, and it's incredibly nice during the day. The evenings can be a bit louder because of the disco on the other side, but it never lasts very late. The owner is absolutely lovely and the food cooked there is great. The wifi works great. As other reviewers mentioned, there's no sockets in the rooms but the ones in the restaurant area are more than enough.
Awesome place , not so friendly owner”
This property is really cool and was fun to stay on a raft house , pretty clean and common area was awesome - it's unfortunate the owner is not super welcoming and friendly. He charges 100 baht if you bring food in to common area (which is also his restaurant ) and 50 baht for coffee which appeaed to be free since it was instant and sitting out all day. Maybe if his menu was a little cheaper people would eat there and not have the desire to bring outside food in ... I would stay there again for the coolness of being on a raft house. Not for the friendliness of the staff
Beautiful views on a budget”
A little far from the center if you're on foot, but there's no lack of transportation options in Kanchaburi. It's definitely worth staying here if you want to stay away from the center for a good, peaceful rest but still stay on a raft. The facilities are basic but everything is clean and nice. If you're low maintenance and on a budget but still want a place where you can swim in the river and wake up to a beautiful view, this is the place.
Comfortable, relaxing, happy.”
My stay at Nita Raft House was lovely, the staff were very nice. I got bitten by so many mosquitos that my legs were very bad the gentleman there gave me a pot of something green and it worked a treat.
Floating fun”
We were a group of 5 staying for only one night, and all of us absolutely loved our stay here. Basic but clean and comfortable rooms with beautiful views, tucked out of the way, and it was fun to simply walk around the raft house! Thanks for looking after us!
Homey Guesthouse”
Rooms are basic but clean and as others have mentioned walls are paper thin and you will hear every creak of fellow guests, and may be kept up by the Karaoke boats floating down the river at all hours, but the charming and hospitable family running this guesthouse, and the experience of staying on a raft, make it worthwhile. Also a great value. A bit away from the touristy part of town, but a short walk to the bus station and a cheap tuk tuk ride to the main strip of restaurants.
Great location, cheap and rustic ”
I was welcomed by the owner with open arms. He is so sweet and loved his animals. The rooms and common room are all on rafts, so it has great character. I had the basic fan room and it was all I needed! I didn't even use the fan actually. It's cosy, clean, and comfortable. The only thing is it doesn't have power points, but he took them out because people were cooking in the rooms ... So you need to charge everything in the common room. Annoying but I got used to it. I didn't know there was hot water un till I checked out, so there is hot water for shower. I think the value is good, and it's probably only worth that much, but it's not nasty or dirty. I would recommend this place for young travellers on a budget :)
Great experience, amazing views”
I thought this place was great. We had the room with aircon, hot water and a small balcony and the views are amazing. The room is tiny and there is only one plug socket, but you are on a raft not a hotel so you won't get the same facilities. The guy who runs it was really friendly and very helpful, the bar/restaurant area is really nice to relax in, the food was good. I would definitely stay here again.
Good value for money”
It's a bit noisy at night, if people walk past your room. The owner has some lovely puppies and a lot of seating on the raft house. Not good if you suffer from motion sickness.
Feels like home”
Pros: -the food is really good -location is beautiful -there is an informative book made by them what basically explain evertyhing you can do at and around the city, priceless! -secure place, makes you feel like home -staff is GREAT!!! I really felt like home. The hosts always had time for a smile and asked how I am, what I am about to do with always a cheerful and helpful manners. They wanted me to enjoy my stay and were considerate and polite. -early morning the fish is jumping out of the water, looks great and fills the river look with flourishing of life My favourite moments were at morning. To see how the gentlemen went around the house and petted both the dogs with love to start a new day in treir company. A genuine insight of a family's life. I liked to be there. If I am ever in the city I know where I have to stay. A place to go back at any time. Cons: -not a stay up until the morning, drinking and being loud party place. You have to be civilised and considerate :) Enjoy!
Nice room with a great view”
It's a raft house located in the city, very convenient to travel around. Balcony with mountain view is a plus which made our stay a pleasant one. However we found it was difficult to relax during the day due to air-con doesn't seem to work under the hot roof. Overall we enjoyed our stay!
recommendable”
first of all, its a budget place, so dont expect too much first of all, its the cheapest place where you can stay on the river and the rooms are floating - this alone is worth the money - you live in nature so there are mosquitos, lizzards, and some other - no spiders, at least I didnt see one the rooms are basic and used, only fan, but a fan is enough at night. they are clean - for me its one of the most important things - and you can have a private bathroom for 250bht in total the view is just amazing and the atmosphere is great if you are looking for some nature experience. the staff is just great, one of the best ive experienced in 4 month of travelling. They help you with information without trying to sell you something, when you are not asking so its easy to get honest information about buses and other transportation the food they cook by themselves is good and they have fair prices, a cola 15bht for example. The best was to see how they take care for the animals and pet them, this is just a good atmosphere which they are spreading. the negative things are that you have no possibility to charge your stuff in your room and the location is for some people quite far away, although you can walk everywhere if you are not to lazy for some walking - they offer motorbike renting and taxi too if you are not willing to walk in conclusion I would stay again at this place, value for money is almost unbeatable ps. if you want to bring your own food you have to pay 100, but I think its okay when you know before
Great stay ”
Had a wonderful stay at Nita raft house, the owner was very helpful with information as to what to see and do. Nice area, close to the bus station and 15 walk to the night market.
