There are only advantages of staying in Carana Hilltop Villa! The best choice! We had a beautiful and spacious room with two balconies and jacuzzi :) Mathew ,the host ,helped us with organizing our trips and excursions (looking even for the best prices!). if you are going to Carana Hilltop Villa he will definitely help you with everything, always ready to answer your questions. Views and gorgeus beaches nearby, friendly atmosphere and the people makes the place worth visiting! Simply a paradise :) Hope to come to Carana again one day...

Bad experience! Don’t go there”

The hotel is isolated, a real hill top place. you will have no access to the beach, and it is so far from the city center and other nice place that You spend all your money in taxi, an average of 100usd par day. Furthermore the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, and there is no one close to the hotel. They will propose to go and buy take away foods for you but the taste...pouahhh! The closest restaurant os at 10min far away by car and you pay something like 70usd per person. Otherwise the manager matthew is fantastic and the housekeeper also. Very nice team.

Beautifull & Peacefull place”

We have spent 3 days in this guesthouse, the staff was really nice and suggested us things to do. The place was comfortable and close to some beautyfull beaches (sunset Beach) and we staid very comfortable in the huge double room!

Nice location, Home Stay type”

About 25 min drive Airport. You might tend to miss the route on the left when you drive North from airport in the night. Steep road with sharp turns take you to the Villa. Don't worry about the drive, the view is awesome with Mountain on West and Sea on East side. Travelling with family? you would feel home with big living hall and common areas to roam, Swimming Pool with relaxing area is cool. Location is good for North Mahe tours. Though South Mahe would take more than 60 min drive, still accessible from this location. I recommend.

Very overpriced”

Location is very far flung. Room and pool was nice but hugely overpriced. If you are planning to stay, do not buy anything from host. Charged 5€ for water when available in market at 0.2 €. Additionaly plan your breakfast outside as they charged 12 € for one breakfast which included fruits egg and tea. Overall place is not worth the money they are charging.

Loved the view and welcome!”

Rooms are clean and wide (got a free upgrade to superior room). A nice breakfast is served on a lovely terrace (fresh fruit-fried bananas-beverages-bread-eggs) and Eileen was kind and welcoming. Location has a great view but it’s on the top of a steep road. You can reach the Villa by bus + 10 mins walking on a very steep street (with your luggage that’s hard) or by taxi. Only one restaurant close to the Villa (Carana Beach restaurant). Swimming pool is perfect for families. Would come back!

Nice quiet location up in the hills on the north side of the island but you definitely need a method of transportation. Great breakfast and friendly staff. The real negative side is the size of the standard room and the lack of WIFI reception in the room.

The property is quite far from everything. If it is your first and and unless you have a hire car, I would recommend paying a little more and staying on Beau Vallon, or Anse Royale.

Awful customer Service”

Pluses: Very Nice beach nearby however you will need to rent a car do get there and also to get the amnesties like food as there is nothing around. This is where pluses end. The customer service in this place is awful. We stayed there for 3 nights: 1. After coming back from beach in the evening and sorting everything we went downstairs to cook the dinner ... and found ourselves locked out! We could not go to the kitchen or to the main hotel area. There was no one around. this was around 20:00 local time!!! On the next day the explanation from the management was that everyone is sleeping by then! 2. The hotel is advertised as it has a kitchen available for cooking however that is not strictly true. On a different occasion we tried to use it but the kitchen was locked. so we asked a worker where could we cook, he showed us another kitchen which we did use. As I was washing up the dishes some old chap turned up(I did see him before in the hotel but still have no idea who he is as he never introduced himself) and started talking aggressively "What are you doing here?", " You are not supposed to use this kitchen!" the fact is kitchen was advertised as available and one of the staff advised us to use this one. I find it absolutely appalling to talk to customers like that. This is by far not the cheapest guesthouse in Mahe. Stay away!

First timer traveling to Seychelles”

I really enjoyed my short staying at Carana Hilltop Villa. Eilleen and Vincent were the perfect hosts. The staff was also helpful and ready to please. The view of my bedroom was gorgeous facing the sunset. Breakfast was flawless. I will recommend Carana Hilltop to anyone traveling to Mahe'. I can promise that you're not going to be disappointed.

Very kind and helpful. Ther took care of us like family. In north is more likely to be fine in rainy seasons. If you have a car it is very nice place.

Highly recommended.The owners pride themselves on a clean place. Must drive if you want to stay there. about 20 minutes to get to the city centre and 20 minutes to get to beau villon.

really a hilltop property”

when we arrived, the power was off, so candles and flashlights. you have to drive somewhat a distance from the airport to be here. If you don't rent a car, taxi drivers may deem you a easy prey for the ride. Even if you rent a car, the car rental is still just a little bit better than the taxi fare.the rooms we stayed in were not well aired or ventilated in the daytime.better for solo travellers or young couples.
