Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp
Petra Wereld Erfgoed Terrein
Loved the camp, with all the lights in the evening and the music and chai! The staff is really friendly and the dinner was great!
Maybe is good to live in summer time. ”
We stay there for 2 nights without AC in our room. , it's too cold in the mountain area and we think it's good to stay in winter time. The breakfast is nothing at all but it's especially experience to live in the local tent.
EXCELLENT Stay, AWESOME Hosts, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”
We booked a 1 night stay at the Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp and it was so awesome! It was winter but the tents were warm enough even without heater (they prepared 5 layers of blankets but I really only needed 2). The toilets/showers were shared but very comfortable and clean. Hot water also available! You have the option to have dinner there for JD10 but I didn't think the food was that great so I recommend getting dinner elsewhere (if you have a car). We spent nights in the communal "hang out place" - in front of a fire. Near to Little Petra and a short 10-15 minute drive to Petra.
They customer first approach makes this camp an excellent choice for your stay. Located in a incredible spot and with a fantastic set up for visitors to enjoy the night under the stars, this camp has nothing to envy to any luxurious hotel. I will definitely be back
We felt very welcomed, the staff were so attentive, the camp fire at night created an amazing atmosphere and it was lovely to see the hillside liten up by candle lite. We had shisha and enjoyed the company of fellow travelers. The staff were amazing and the camp had all the basic necessities.
Great setting next to scenic rock outcroppings in the desert/hills near Petra, remote feeling but not far and easy to get to. The drive out to the camp is scenic in itself, don't worry about the dirt/rock road at the end, it's fine. The guys running the place are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The tents have thick carpets on the floor, comfortable bed, warm and dry even if the weather is not (it rained hard one night). I stayed in a single tent, looks like there are some dorm-style tents that weren't in use when I was there. Breakfast is fine and filling and free. They offer a camp-cooked dinner for a reasonable price that looks good, although we didn't partake, choosing instead to eat in Wadi Musa (up the hill away from the main tourist restaurants). The bathrooms and showers are a short walk down a path from the tents. Amazingly clean, quite nice, not a problem, you only get hot water from about 7 to 10 at night since the generator is turned on only then, although an early morning shower will still have some lingering warm water. There is a big common tent with cushions and a fire and tea for hanging out at night, or outdoor around a central fire pit. Great place, not a luxury tourist camp, not a rustic adventure camp, it's a scenic outdoor camp with comfortable carpeted tents with beds, a nice experience different from hotel or hostel.
Beautiful place tarnished by last trip”
Positives: Initial great welcome, collected at the airport and driven to the camp. The camp is beautifu Negatives: We were there in May and the tents get incredibly hot, there is no ventilation and it was uncomfortable to be within the tent until several hours after the sun had set. We booked a trip to Aquaba via Wadi Rum and we were not provided with what we agreed, we had been told that the car would take us, wait and then take us on to Aquaba and that was fair for the price we agreed. However on the day the driver was quite grumpy, appeared to suggest that it was my fault that he had a cold because of having the fan on a couple of days earlier and left us at Wadi Rum. This meant that we had to have our bags out in the 45 degree sun in the back on the jeep and then we were transferred to a very uncomfortable local taxi that had black plastic seats and the driver could not speak English and didn't know our destination. When I contacted the camp about this they were not interested.
Fantastic place to stay for Petra”
If I could give 6 stars, I would without question. The camp was well run, and when we arrived on the 29th, we were promptly invited in for dinner even though we had neglected to let them know we would like to join. The dinner was 10 JD, so on the pricey side but filling and absolutely delicious. There were several dishes that we could choose from buffet style and we all had our fill before being shown to our tents. (Breakfast was served similar and just as delicious). Our two tents were nearby each other and nearby the shared toilet/shower facilities, which was nice because it was cold. Given the three heavy blankets on each bed though, we didn’t suffer through the cold nights at all. I was plenty warm and while the beds weren’t a temperpedic, they were comfortable. The common area was great and they ran the genny at night so we charged phones and talked to other visitors before dinner. I would absolutely stay here again. Huge thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome!
Lovely camp (the best we stayed in) with amazing communal tent area with non stop tea and a wood burner. Also great if you want to walk from little petra to the monestary in Petra via the back route. It's a great walk but you will definitely need a GPS device or guide as it goes right through the desert. Loved this camp!
Sleeping in the desert”
~ Only in complete silence can you hear the desert~ so my first night in the desert at Petra I slept at #sevenwondersbedouincamp it was an experience full of great food, tea and more tea, smoking hookah at a bonfire, music, and sleeping with the stars.
If you visit Petra, then stay at this camp and nowhere else. From the owner Atif to all other people working at this camp will make your stay here a memorable one, I gurantee you this. We stayed here for 2 nights and I regret not stying longer to enjoy the hospitality of the 7 wonder Beduin Camp. From food (dinner) to the evning gathering at the campsite is unforgetable. The owner Atif works from 6am to 12 midnight to make sure that his guests are all taken care of. He will assist you from arranging ride to Petra and back (15 minutes), to Wadi Rum (2 hours each way), picking you up from Amman airport and return (3 hours each way) at a very reasonable price. He will peronally see to it that you had dinner and breakfast. They serve free refreshing tea in the evening as much as you want. He sent his brother Hussain to pick us up fom Amman. We chose King's Highway to get to the camp. Although it cost a little more to come this way, but I highly recommend that you do the same.
From the location, to staffs, to facilities. Everything! One of the best places I ever stayed. Must try if you will go to Petra. If you want to experience Petra, do it right! Thanks Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp, you made our Petra experience wonderful. Cheers!
Brilliant camp a little bit out from Wadi Musa. The staff were great and the food and facilities very good. I'm glad I stayed in the camp rather than one of the hotels in the town, it's a great experience.
This is a great way to enjoy Petra although slightly disappointed. They should through the internet away as there is no interaction between guests. Also the advertised story telling and music did not eventuate. They are getting too commercial (it is not Bedouin owned but British owned) and they are extending so as to be able to take more tour groups. Despite this it was an experience but do it soon.
I am a New Zealander and my bedouin husband owns the camp and runs it with bedouin family members. I have nothing to do with the camp nor its management - I just do the bookings. We have never advertised story telling. There was no music in October because someone close to the camp had died and it is a show of respect to not play music. Glad you still enjoyed the place, though.
Great location for visiting Petra. Experience life in the desert with the Bedouin for a few days. Dinner was good value. Soup, salad, rice, vegetables chicken, baklava, water and tea. The only downside for me was the constant barking of dogs at night. I'm guessing they were wild dogs as none were around camp in the daytime. Because of this I didn't sleep very well as I continued to be woken up.
One of the best experience of our lives”
Thank you to this great family who have welcomed us, the place is magical, the food is amazing, people are the nicest, everything is clean and beautiful... we stayed 2 nights but we should have stayed longer, Petra is really big and take time to discover! Thank you, see you soon :)
my 2nd time staying here. love the lighting at night, the view from the nearby hills, the food, and the hospitality. our rental car broke down outside the camp, and the staff were happy to rescue us, and very knowledgeable too. guides available for a fee to take us to petra from the back (descending route), a great alternative to the front route.
A really great experience”
The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you needed to go somewhere they were happy to arrange it. Unlike being in a formal hotel you got to chat to other people and to hear their experiences. Also you could share good places to go so you didn't miss out. There was plenty of food which was cooked in a fire in the centre of the camp. So if you enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories, which I do , then spend a night here.
Desert Retreat; Bedouin Hospitality”
We stayed here three nights with our adult daughter. It was so relaxing and wonderful to come back to after full days of touring Petra. The breakfast was delicious and filling. The evening tea and music were a perfect end to the evening. We opted for dinner for two nights and it was delicious. The staff is really friendly and helpful and it was nice to sit around the fire drinking tea and chatting with other guests. No complaints. It was everything that we hoped it would be - a highlight of our trip to Israel and Jordan. Warning though - you are sleeping in tents and you will hear other people. If it's cold, you'll be warm enough under a lot of blankets and the tents are cozy and protect you from the wind and weather, but the bathrooms are down the path. If rustic accommodations are not your thing, it's probably not for you. We, personally, thought it was the best place ever. So peaceful and a respite from the hustle and bustle of Petra.
Very wonderful ”
Camp boss showed us perfect Bedouin hospitality from the beginning till the very end, all staffs are wonderful. The recommended "Petra trip from the top" is also perfect, save time, energy and see every thing! I'll be back next year.
