Nice balcony”

I liked the shared balcony, where you also can have your breakfast (fried eggs with some bread). You can also watch the monks collecting the alms from the balcony. The room is oke. The water pressure in the shower was quite low. There was only one man speaking English. The rest of the staf cannot. Still for 16 euro, a good place to stay.

Excellent situation with a few niggles”

This location on the Sakkaline Road, 5 minutes walk to the night market and with two beautiful wats opposite is ideal. There are excellent places to eat close by, including on both riverbanks and Phonheuang café only 100 m away. Take the bamboo bridges for a walk to the sa paper and weaving villages. The entire old colonial city is within 20 minutes walking. Helpful staff. Downsides: I was in room 8 on the NE side of the building. This room doesn't have windows, the windows are in the bathroom, so you can't be woken by dawn light. The rooms at the front and back have windows. At the front, if you leave the shutters open, light sleepers may be disturbed by guests on the balcony guest or the 4 am gongs and 6 am drums from the wats. The bathroom door in room 08 has a broken door lock, the door cannot be shut. However, everything else in the bathroom and bedroom works.

Great location, super nice staff”

This hotel is a great deal for a smaller room with incredibly friendly staff. The receptionist was so incredibly friendly, she brought us fresh coconut juice, helped us to book a bus and tuk tuk, and even wrote us a personalized thank you note for when we left. The attention to detail is great. Breakfast was excellent, and we liked watching the almsgivng procession for the monks from the balcony. The view of the temples from the balcony is amazing. Would highly recommend, just know that the rooms are a bit smaller but still super cozy. Thanks Sokxai!

I am very satisfied with Sokxai residence. Clean hotel, friendly staff. The 2nd floor of the hotel is very relaxing. Especially in the morning begging.room rates are also very good. I will come back here with my family and my friends. Thank Sokxai residence

Location”

Stayed two nights. Rooms are poorly appointed (for the money, compared to other places), wet bathroom floor which hardly dries. No decent closet and no desk for basics (laptop etc.). Getting into bed was challenging as the space to the left and right of the bed was 10cms each only. Mornings feature a noodle kitchen in front of the hotel; the Asian noodle (stench, in my case) is offensively unpleasant blown into the rooms facing the road. The coffee, sold extra, at LAK 15'000 is highway robbery compared to what you get just next door at Le Banneton. There's wear and tear now already with no eye for details; assume this place will go south in a year or two unless staff is not only on Facebook and Line but also on the job. Will not be back!

Disappointed ”

Staff were not friendly as they don't speak English. Poor house keeping. Had to remind to clean the room and provide the clean towels. But the location was strategic.

Night market within walking distance. Good bakery just 40m away. Hotel room clean. Infront of a temple where every 6am you can see monks walking to receive offerings from locals. Owners are friendly and helpful. Speaks English too.

In the morming you can sit on the veranda and watch the monks exit from the wat opposite the hotel and receive alms from donors .. simple breakfast but good ... great omelet and endless coffee

Attention, seulement une chambre double bien placée”

J ai réservé sur Agoda une chambre twin 20 ou 22 metres carrés avec vue sur la ville (pour assister à la cérémonie matinale de l'aumône). Agoda indiquait qu'il y avait 2 chambres de ce type . Ce n'est pas vrai ! Quand nous sommes arrivés, le gars nous a dit qu'il ne restait qu'une chambre à un grand lit avec la vue. Bon, on la prend pas de soucis... Mais elle est au rez de chaussée sans terrasse, et minuscule.. On est obligé de sortir pour voir la cérémonie. Mais de toutes façons, il n'y a en fait, que 3 chambres qui donnent sur la rue. Une double au RDC. Une twin au 1er et une single au 1er. Mensonges . Beaucoup de déceptions au Laos par tant et tant de mensonges...
