The Mayflower Hotel
Not 4 star for sure ”
First the hotel cant NOT be 4 star for certain Dirty carpets, pillows, old and shabby cover sheets The AC was a disaster! Impossible to control! Nosy Staying in the hotel for 9 nights was a biggest mistake in my life! The AC has effected my health drastically now i got chest infection Mr Ashraf was v nice and helpful As well as other staff Tarq and Mohammad No cattle in the room terrible heir drier I will never stay in this hotel and will never recommend it They charge far too much for Taxi ride $ 33 i booked it before hand with Alo Taxi for only $ 20
Lady on front desk needs training on how to be polite with guests”
Unfortunately my interactions with a member of staff on leaving ruined my trip. I had taken chocolate from the mini bar and replaced it with the same, this was not accepted, so I needed to pay for the chocolate. I did so but asked for the replacement back. It was brought back to me, half eaten by staff. When I said this, the lady on the front desk denied it and said it was me. She seriously needs to be taught the damage she is doing by speaking to guests in that manner. I went straight away and looked into cancelling my follow up stay I had booked due to her impoliteness.
Good option in Hamra for 40 USD!”
The hotel was just OK nothing good or bad doe my one night stay ....
We arrived early in Beirut and wanted a place to rest as one of us were taken in. Requested to check-in early at 8am and by 8.30am the room was ready for us. The male counter staff (didn’t manage to get his name) was very efficient and polite. Room was basic but clean with a very nice washroom. Bed was exceptionally comfy. We managed a 5 hours rest before we checked-out on the same day to continue our Beirut journey. Definitely an excellent start to our trip. Thank you for the superb service!
Photos did not match room”
Very disappointed with our experience. Photos looked great until we saw it with our own eyes. In real life the room was very old not modern at all compared the photos. Automatically felt disgusted walking in. Breakfast buffet nothing like the photos aswell. Horrible
Very much for the money”
Located only 2 min from Hamra Str. The building from the 70ies but in very good condition with very spacious public areas; 2 nice and comfortable lobby areas - one with PC and printer and luggage lockers, a very large and coosy bar and a spacious roof top sitting/resting area with a bar and a small pool. No fuss but spacious bedroom with fully modern and spot clean and fully equipped bathroom. I have stayed at several similar hotels in this area but The Mayflower is the one that by far has given me the most for the money. Will certainly stay there again and can highly recommend it.
The carpets are totally dingy. Friends of mine who paid the same as I did not get breakfast but I did. Separate breakfast costs an outrageous $12. While paying with my card the reception guy was looking directly at my pin code - I called him on it. The bathroom is shabby. The rooftop closes at 7 pm already. The elevator is sweltering. The breakfast room is hot and stuffy. The minibar drinks cost 3 times more than in Co-op next door. Airport pickup costs $33 but normal price is $20. This place is living on its colorful past. The breakfast waiters are very good, as is the room staff. The reception people are lousy. Do not stay at the Mayflower.
Lovely vintage hotel in a great area. Staying at this hotel felt like going back in time. Some reviews complain about the dated rooms, but I found them really charming. It's easy to imagine that you're staying in Beirut in it's heyday in the 60's. Walking distance to loads of nice restaurants, cafes, and bars. About a 20 minute walk to pigeon rock. Breakfast is simple. As a vegan, there wasn't much for me to each besides bananas, but the coffee was nice. Will stay again during our next trip to Beirut.
This is a good hotel for the price, I always feel safe here and the staff are so nice, the location is good too and rooms probably could do with a big clean but still loved it!
Great value for the money”
I always stay at the Mayflower. You can't get better value for this price, the location is great, and the rooms are very good. The staff are very helpful
Great location and like stepping back in time”
We had a great stay at the hotel. It's not quite 4 star, but is definitely like stepping into a Graham Greene novel. All of the hotel's style has not been lost and the Duke of Wellington is a fantastic little pub. Rooms were clean, but would be better if there were non-smoking floors. Breakfast was fine. Nothing special. But set you up for the day.
A great hotel. Nice staff, and of course the Hamra environment. I stay there a lot, and will do next time too
I have used this hotel a lot and it is just perfect for me. Close to shops and restaurants in Hamra, and a short walk to the cornish.
Overall, a good experience. Our hotel room was a triple and so maybe not the best/most frequently used. It had a bit of a damp feel to it and smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. Staff were friendly apart from one man on reception who I found abrupt and disinterested. You could be left standing there waiting for several minutes before he would address you. Great location, very close to Hamra street, bars, restaurants etc. Good breakfast.
good place ,next time i will live there again
Mayflower: Best quality and value for the money”
The hotel's location is perfect in Hamra. The value for the money is amazing and probably hard to match. The rooms have been upgraded since my last stay in 2009, they are quite modern and up to standard. The breakfast is good. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
hotel is located at convenient area ”
it was nice and pleasant
Good, but need improvement ”
In general it was okay, when we first checked in, I got a very small room while the bed was kind bed size, but it was so small, Hotel staff were very kind and very helpful and cooperative, and they offered upgrade to junior suite free of charge, junior suite is fine, but the toilet was also small too!, but anyway we took it since hotel was overbooked. if time pass 4:00PM and you were in your room then don't expect it would be cleaned since after 4 there will be no one to clean it. for breakfast even if it was included in your room charge, you are not allowed to take anything from it to your room, or to ask them to take it to your room and if you ask for it youll get charged twice! in breakfast open buffet there is a remark that each person is allowed to have only one bottle of water!!. four stars Hotel usually give water, coffee, tea complimentary in your room, but this hotel even its four stars it doesn't have it. even with the comments I mentioned it is still great value Hotel, and you take more than you pay, and reception are extremely kind and helpful.
it was nice and friendly ”
