Buffet breakfast is way overpriced”

We enjoyed our three-day stay here, but be aware that the buffet breakfast is $25! This price was not mentioned anywhere when we booked, so we were a bit startled to face the bill at the end of our stay. There were much cheaper dining establishments within easy walking distance that we would have used instead had we known how expensive the breakfast here was, especially considering that the room itself was not that expensive. Also, the A/C in our room did not work, and it was not fixed while we were there even though we mentioned the problem to the staff early in our stay.

One of the best hotels in Victoria Falls”

This is probably one of the best hotels in Victoria Falls. It is just in two kilometers from the waterfalls. Among the problems that I encountered is that I could not open the door to the balcony - it was stuck. The second problem was that wi-fi was not always working. I also booked the hotel it without breakfast so I can not say anything about their food.

A Good Option”

We stayed here in December 2016. We were very pleased with the size of our room and the quality of the furnishings. The hotel grounds are well kept and it is in a good location. The staff were always friendly and helpful. From our room we saw a family of mongoose and a couple warthogs! We had one dinner here and it was only OK. We opted to eat "in town" for our other meals. I would stay here again.

nice though a little dated”

Quite pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly.It was the cheapest pleasant hotel we could find in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. It was within walking distance to the Falls, tourist center and a very good new Thai restaurant.

Breakfast and dinner very expensive, besides that we had a very pleasant stay at Rainbow Hotel. You have a great hard working staff with the best services ever and generally the hotel is great. Rainbow Hotel is a place to be in Victoria Falls. It is situated close to all the attractions and town.

Hotel management do not honour your booking”

After booking this hotel 5 months early due to the closeness to the area our group staying we were dumped at another property way out of town due to the hotel overbooking. When my husband was dropped at the hotel post rafting they told him there was no booking under my name so he had no idea then where we were staying as they didn’t pass on about the new hotel. This also happened to our hotel transfer we had pre arranged to the airport the next day, telling them they had never heard of us rather than tell them our new hotel. They even had the nerve to say we were being moved to a 5 star hotel it was bearly a 3. Costing up lots in taxi fare driving in and out of town. Very poor hotel management

Lacklustre”

Pretty disappointing. Bathrooms are in desperate need of an upgrade, towels were extremely thin and even had holes in them. Tried calling housekeeping for an ironing board and got no answer. When I went to reception the house keeping guy was busy talking to other staff. When I got the iron I was given a sheet and told to use the table as an ironing board. Sat for dinner and waited over 10 minutes at a half set table for staff to acknowledge me So overall a pretty poor performance from a hotel that is rated fairly high

Good value”

Stay was enjoyable. Easy walking distance to the falls and centre of town. The staff were great and the room was comfortable. For the price it was good value except for the buffet breakfast which was over priced for what was on offer.

It was ok but overpriced.”

The hotel is still a work in progress, Rooms are very spacious and the ambiance friendly but a lot of renovation is needed. Reception staff are a bit casual in manner, leaning on the desk for an example however they maintain good eye contact and acknowledge guests.

Nice hotel walking distance to Falls”

Nice hotel, very close to the falls (walking distance). Airport shuttle was reliable and timely - cost USD12 per person. The room was clean and fairly large. Nice friendly staff. Did not experience any issues.

Agoda Booking”

Agoda created an unnecessary problem for me which was never resolved to my satisfaction. I booked thru Agoda and the hotel was already fully booked. I paid Agoda and the all the hotel could do is find me inferior accommodation further out of town.

Very disappointed in hotel and service”

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and if I had the opportuntiy after the first night I would have transferred somewhere else. The hotel itself is in disrepair and needs a lot of maintenance done. The service was ordinary and things were not replaced in rooms when when cleaned.

Great food and service!”

pros: great variety of food, delicious vegetarian options, close to town cons: a little worn down. bed sheets were old, dirty and brown

Good location ”

Good location but should more shuttles per day and should be a lot earlier. The minibar was nice and useful especially as there is a lack of halaal food in vic falls. Some days the traditional dancing and music went on a little late. Pleasant staff and responded promptly to requests.

Tired”

Rather disappointing but this is Zimbabwe and everything seems to be very tired and no maintenance/upgrades. Definitely, just a 3 star hotel, we think its overpriced but seems everything is around Victoria Falls. Rooms a large enough, happy to change rooms after being directly along a very noisy main road.

A very disappointing stay”

A very poor stay. After being initially greeted warmly the service quickly went down hill. The toilet was broken when we arrived, and broke twice more during our stay. The Wifi was out of order for 2 of the 3 days. The bar staff were rude and inefficient, and we felt uncomfortable in public areas. The rooms are clean, and air con works well. Over priced for me.

it could have been so good ”

The hotel is fairly good but could be so much better with a little effort. The pool is very good but there is a serious shortage of chairs / loungers so not many people can use it. the sunken pool bar looks good but means there is nowhere to sit outside for a drink except in the "bar pit". We did have some issues while at the Rainbow. the staff are variable - from very pleasant and responsive to,in some cases not very useful at all. There is an African dance group who are fine but are VERY loud and appear to perform every night so if you want to talk between 7 and 9 you have almost to stay in your rooms! The thing to be aware of is the attempted rip-off on breakfasts. The restaurant staff tried to charge us 28 USD for an average b'fast (Dinner is only $15) but after a heated debate negotiated down to 15....not what you expect in a professional hotel.

Decent 3* hotel”

Although by all means this is not a great hotel, it is a very decent option considering the other options in the area. VF is generally very expensive. The better hotel options are much more expensive, and the less expensive options are much worse in quality and service. Therefore, this qualifies as a decent 3 star hotel. Bed is good which is an improvement from last year's reviews. Lots of pillows. Location is great. Walking distance to the falls and you can walk to town even at night. Wifi was working in the room most of the time. The only problems found were: - very old and noisy a/c making it very hard to have a good nights sleep - no mosquito nets on windows. If we had them we would not have to use the a/c as the nights are pleasant. Unlike other reviews here, we found that staff was very friendly and helpful. Just don't forget to tip a bit them as this is the custom. Tip: book without breakfast, and get better breakfast in town for fraction of cost

Good but quite expensive”

Convenience hotel but quite expensive specially restaurant dinner service and breakfast. Also the transfer price to the airport offered by the hotel. Official price is 30 USD but we were offered by the hotel the price of 60 USD.
