I wanna keep this place a secret”
I was looking for a small and quaint hotel but was afraid to end up in a dingy place in SF. I'm glad that I ventured and tried the Nob Hill Hotel. My room was clean and the people at the reception were very nice. The hotel is not located along the public transportation routes so I used Uber a lot during my stay. Will definitely stay there again on my next trips to San Francisco.

    Good value”
My expectations were low so I was disappointed. The hotel is quaint, room small but functional. All in all we were satisfied. Especially considering the price of lodging in SF. I wouldn’t say it’s kid friendly. Be prepared to park your car two blocks away at $25 a night. Also, be prepared to climb 5 flights of stairs as the elevator is an unstable antique.

    A bed to sleep..”
We chose Nob Hill as our last night in San Francisco because we wanted somewhere cheap to stay. The staff was nice, room was somewhat clean(could’ve used a vacuum) and we had a place for our luggage. Upon our arrival the elevator didn’t work, my husband had to hold the hair dryer into the plug so I could dry my hair, the worst of it we could hear everything from yelling in the street to a bunch of girls giggling until 4 am. All in all we got what we paid for.

Very compact but beautiful rooms, spotlessly clean, great amenities. Great complimentary breakfast. Coffee and tea freely available in the lobby throughout the day and night. The complimentary wine and cheese reception makes a lovely end to a day exploring SF. Extremely friendly staff. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

    What a surprise!”
Location, staff performance, room cleanliness and comfort
I booked a few hours before I checked in because of some last minute changes to my travel plans. I had the lowest of expectations and boy was I surprised! The hotel is old but is well maintained, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom has just been renovated. The room is very clean. The nearest MUNI bus stop is just a 3 min walk. I walked to union square for about 15 min and I felt safe. The only problem that I had was that I missed the free breakfast because I overslept for 2 hours which is not the hotel's fault. I would stay at the Nob Hill again!

best value for luxury in downtown”
    size, location and value
After being ripped of in the hostels throughout the downtown area finding this was excellent. Room is really nice and in a great location downtown, not sure if there is anything of equal value avaailable. However staff were a bit useless. Noone to check us in, and then checked in people who arrived after us first and did not show us where the room was. Did not make use of any food facilities

The stay was really good. Location is excellent for seeing the city, cable cars, [Just turn left out of hotel] Fishermen's Wharf and Alcatraz were only a short taxi ride away. Shuttle from airport was $17 each way. A good value for money hotel, situated on Hyde street. Rooms were good, service was fine. Lift to all floors. Wi-Fi worked well in the room. Fifth floor. Light buffet breakfast, and complimentary wine in the evening. Some good eateries within minutes. Another great value for money hotel booked on Agoda rates.

Great location, very funky and quirky 19th century design rooms, lovely staff
this was a gem. well priced around with breakfast included and free wine and cheese every afternoon, it was also the quirkiest hotel i have stayed in. all rooms are 19th century design with four poster beds and old fashioned details - but with a big flat screen tv. i loved my stay here.

    Not happy with entire experience!”
I had a very unsatisfactory experience. The front desk attendants were vague and mildly rude and dismissive, the rooms do not have ac, the area is not like the reviews that I read described, and when I asked for a manager for a reservation problem I was having they said there wasn’t one around. I ended up not being able to stay my last 2 nights and could not get through to Agoda the booking website at all. The only pleasant interaction I had was with Paul at the front desk who really tried to help. I should note however it is a very clean hotel. I would never recommend Knob Hill Hotel to stay or Agoda to use for booking to anyone.

Stay At The Nob Hill Hotel”
A really nice place to stay, especially with the complimentary cheese & wine sessions every day. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was well placed for walking about and for catching the Muni transport across San Francisco. The old-style elevator was an interesting challenge and we stayed in a king-size room which provided more space. Overall, we were very happy with our choice of this hotel.

3 days in San Fran ”
We stayed there 4 days / 3 nights & the staff were lovely and helpful. Arrived from the airport via the train and then tram which was hard work considering 3 big bags. Decided to get an uber on the return as it was 30 dollars and 20 minutes. Breakfast was ok considering other negative reviews elsewhere. The room also was ok but could have a bit of sprucing up as was a little dated. There was a bonus with the wine at 6pm whoch was appreciated. The room has relatively easy access to all the commercial & tourist areas. However there was a bit an issue with the number of apparent homeless not just near the hotel but across San Fran.

    Not too great a stay”
Dont be misled by the images. Rooms are compact. I would pay more and take a better room than this..hence not value for money. No air conditioning and I probably didnt read that. The weather outside was pleasant so it didnt matter too much.. but the room was way too cramped and the hotel had serious doing up required. The lift has probably not changed since the time the british left.

    Not worth the price”
The room was a structural tragedy. There was an actual hole in the original floor that they just carpeted over. I know this because when I stepped on it, my foot sank into it and nearly punched a hole through the carpet that was covering it. The plumbing is ancient and makes all sorts of noise throughout the 24-hour day. I wouldn't be surprised if the piping was lead! The bathroom sink and tub are decades old. The walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor's tv at a reasonable volume. Not worth the price at all.

    Getaway”
We live in Daly city and just wanted a room with a Jacuzzi, the Jacuzzi was a little small, although through out the room there were antique Tiffany lights that were beautiful and in the hotel hall ways. This is a very old hotel the location was not that great we were on the very edge of nob hill right next to the tenderloin in which there were many homeless. The room was clean and felt like a small apartment with our own porch and deck off the living room.

The room not big but the bed is big and comfy. We got the room facing the road, so it's quite noisy when car passes by. Almost every night got ambulance or police car passed by with siren. Very Average for the Price”
The hotel just didn't seem to be good value for the money, which sadly is typical of San Francisco. But it seemed a bit lacking even compared to other hotels in this price range where we've stayed. We arrived during a record heat wave; there was no AC or fans for temps close to 100 degrees. Our room was very stuffy with poor air circulation due to the closeness of adjacent buildings. Facilities and furnishings seemed worn, though clean. Our room was never cleaned during our 3-day stay. Most rooms are noisy due to ambulances pulling into an adjacent hospital 24 hours a day. The hotel is not really on Nob Hill, but lower on the slope going up to it. Iffy neighborhood at night; many street people. Would not recommend it for solo women. It is a steep climb to restaurants at the top. Difficult to access downtown by public transport except expensive cable car down California Street. Breakfast was sad, even by my very minimal standards--two kinds of cereal, bread and a few stale baked goods. You are better off self-catering from nearby Trader Joe's or checking out some cute coffee shops (Nook, Soap Box) further up Hyde Street. On the plus side, the rooms were actually on the large side for this price range, with a roomy (for SF) closet to store bags, and bathtub in the bathroom, the coffee was good, and there was nightly complimentary California wine from 5:30 to 7. But all in all, very average, if that, for the price.
