Comfortable, pleasant, convenient and relaxed.”
The Nord Est provided an excellent base camp for exploring Paris. It's located squarely between the Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est but tucked out of the way of any traffic or noise. The building has a pleasing anachronistic quality to it's facade, and is suitably only a short walk away from the beautiful Saint Vincent de Paul church. This hotel is ideal if you're on a budget; for our money we got a good sized bed, fast & free WIFI, en-suite bathroom with a powerful shower, nice new television, wardrobe space and a desk with 1 power point + divider. It's necessary to say that the rooms aren't perfect, nor are they forensically clean, any more than, for the sake of argument, one's relative's house might be. But at this price the competition is hostel's not hotels, and if you value your privacy then the Nord Est is perfect. The owners and staff were exceptionally friendly and relaxed. They take a laissez faire view towards your stay so if you are neurotic and need the constant reassurance of someone constantly picking up after you without asking for it, don't stay here. If you are realistic and appreciate a life uninterrupted by others, you will get along just fine. Having said that, room service was prompt, the room was always tidied and the towels always fresh. All the staff we met spoke English and helped us with any problems we were having, such as needing to print off flight documents, or directions for plotting our days activities. During our stay we quickly felt at home, coming and going as we pleased, unbothered by others and allowed to get on with our trip. Close to the heart of the public transport system it never felt too far away, and close to so many quality restaurants (and supermarche's) that we never required the hotel breakfast or bar facilities. I'd thoroughly recommend the Hotel Nord to anyone who wasn't relying on their hotel providing THE defining experience of their trip to Paris(!!!). Especially at 60 Euros a night.

Best location, needs repairs”
It did the job - the place was a 5-minute wallk from Gare du Nord and Gare de l'est, which will connect you to all major destinations in central Paris. The place was old and decrepit, but not without charm, although the finishings are in dire need of polishing and replacement or repairs. The room was a bit dark and could use more lighting and electrical plugs. The parquets flooring was a bit noisy when moving around the flat, which was limited anyways since the room had just enough space to fit 2 single beds (we had 3 single beds instead) and your luggage.

Small hotel in city centre”
The hotel was under renovation when i checked in. It's understandable that things are a bit messy under this situation. Being Paris, I guess this would be the standard for the price i am paying. Nothing great except location. Throughout my 5 nights stay, four days were were without hot water, due to the renovation work. There are many eateries around the hotel, convenient stores as well. Two main train stations are just within walking distance, so is the metro. Very convenient in terms of transportation.

Cheap. Simple. Mice in the room. Very close to Gare Du Nord.”
Pros: very close to Gare du nord and many restaurants Cons: mice in the room (I saw one crawling over my bags); holes in walls; non-functional room telephone and electrical sockets; very dark from the outside and in the hallways. Overall, I would never stay there again even though the price was cheap and close to the train station.

basic hotel”
very basic hotel. Our room was under the roof. The lack of A/C was an issue as the weather was quite hot. Double glazing on windows should be added as the street is very busy. But overall it was ok

Acceptable”
Stayed for 2 nights. Very happy to check-out as not have to be here any longer. Terrible in so many things, a few only mentioned here: Worn-out shower handle holder (-When showering one hand to clean your body and the other holding the handle from falling), one bed lamp cover broken(-exposing wiring), only power point in the room(-loosing or not fixed to the wall hence exposing all the wiring, too high risk for a chance of an Electrical arcing or Electrocution), No hot water on for a morning coffee. It seems the hotel cares for money but guests 's comfort and safety. We have not had a bad hotel experience like that in the past. Very poor standard. Not recommended. Absolutely NO NO NO. We have some photos for you but AGODA does not offer an ATTACH. Danh Nguyen, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.

Small hotel in a convenient location”
I stayed for 5 nights in this small city hotel. The last 4 nights were without any hot water. It was not a right timing to stay here as the hotel is going through renovation work. There were scaff foldings outside my bedroom & toilet windows and the workers literally were walking right in front of me every morning. The room was tiny, so was the shower stall & toilet, but I guess this normal for European city hotels at this price range. The plus point of this hotel is its location, which is very near to two main railway stations and the metro. F&B outlets & convenient stores are all within walking distance.

Under rated hotel”
The room was not that pleasing but large for a couple. the floor of the room was not leveled and the floor finish was delaminating while the toilet was kind of old and was painted red wall and pink curtain as if it were a motel for short time stays. We were on the second floor, physically on the 3rd level, and unfortunately there was no elevator so we have to carry our luggage and pass thru a narrow winding stairs. The ambiance of the garden court and the front court was different from the other hotels which attracted me to book here. The staff or he looks like the owner is very polite and allow us to leave our luggage at the lobby after checking out. For an overnight stay, this hotel will suffice.

Good Stuff / Good Staff”
Staff were great. Many things in the hotel in need of repair... Ie bed legs broken, shower nozzle loose. Would have liked access to a little more breakfast food but very set at 1 coffee, 1 bread roll, 1 croissant and 1 orange juice. Perhaps thats ok for 7 Euros? Good to have easy Internet access. I should say again... Wonderful staff!
