It’s got tradition. It’s got got location. It’s also got staff who care and genuinely want to make a difference. In the outback this is the quintessential place to stay - don’t miss it from your experiential bucket list.

Unreal rest stop”
Staff were helpful and friendly. Bar had a great atmosphere and I felt very welcome despite this place being very far from home. Can’t wait to stay here on my way back! Thank you

Exceptional”
Richard the manager makes your stay! He is friendly and helpful, nothing is too much of an effort. Lovely meals and very friendly vibe throughout the hotel. Clean and welcoming. Rooms are alittle old fashion but clean.

Suzy! thank you so very much for your kind words and great feedback! We appreciate it and are thankful. Glad to hear you enjoyed the vibe of this Grand old Lady we call the North Gregory Hotel. A little old fashioned but I hope you noticed it is how we like to keep it for the simple reason people come to visit the nostalgic town of Winton. We update our upholstery and linen regularly. We hope to see you again in the future Kindly Richard GM
Better than expected. ”
Much quieter than I thought. Rooms clean, ensuit was good. Comfy bed. All quiet once the music finished at 930. Beautiful area out back and cute town.

historical Winton”
North Gregory Hotel in Winton - Gregory was an explorer in the gov't admin area became known as "Gregory". One of the receptionists loves the poem "Invictus" which most of us have heard but don't recognize. Very family-friendly. Meals in the outdoors "Beer Garden" are great.

Music, Poetry and fresh country food!”
You can sometimes get a good deal on a particular booking site but not on others. So compare before you book. When we were there they had the poetry of Banjo Paterson and live music which was great.

Great place to relax after a day with dinosaurs.”
Outside really hot, but we were pleasantly surprised to find the aircon was already on and room was perfect. Hotel has character. Had dinner here and the food was great.

Great Country Hotel in Art Deco style”
Stayed 1 night (Saturday) and had a wonderful evening with live music and Banjo Patterson poetry with style entertainment. Food was also great. Great Art Deco style throughout the hotel located in the main street with free parking and wifi. Staff were excellent. Only place to stay when in Winton!

Budget accommodation”
Great location. Good facilities. Nice to get a twin room for about 100 dollars a room. Staff were brilliant. Bathrooms are dated but clean. Beds are comfortable.

Great place to stay in the outback”
Staying at this Art Deco style hotel is an experience in itself. A special daily performance by Greg North of his rendition of the life and works of Banjo Paterson are the icing-on-the-cake. This place is well worth a stay.

Excellent”
This was a lovely old hotel with its unique charm. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great comfy beds huge rooms the only let down was the smell in the room coming from the drains. We were on the ground floor so I don’t know if the first floor rooms had the same problem, but we closed our bathroom door at night and it helped a little, but the smell was quite over powering.

The room was not what I expected. But I found the quirkiness and history of the hotel well worth the stay.

Excellent”
Not the most luxurious rooms - just one power point near the door and no bedside lamps, but clean, cool, quiet and comfortable. 👍

Hi Deb Thanks for your great score. No. we are not luxurious, we don't pretend to be. Remote of course and built in the 1950s prohibits us from changing too much due to the high cost of doing business here. We try out best and hope the charm of a 50s pub with its retro feel and look provides nostalgia to our guest experience. I wonder how you thought you might find luxurious in the remote nether areas of far western Queensland? We certainly hope we impressed you with our historical feel and look, We welcome your feedback most heartedly and glad that you feel cool and comfortable. Love your feedback Kindly Richard GM
Great Location”
Excellent location in the centre of town. Historic building ( 1955). Room (double) was large with all facilities ( ensuite, small fridge and air conditioning) but showing its age. Good shared verandah. Convenient for the live music often on in the pub ( but they didn't run the music past 8:30 pm when we were there). Go there for a true taste of Australiana rather than modern rooms.

The air-conditioning was a blessing on a hot 40degree day. The beds were comfortable but no toaster or microwave.

Good”
We found the accommodation adequate for our needs , definitely no bells or whistles and the menu could do with more appeal and less crumbed everything. Staff were great and position in main street was good. Just a reasonable pubstay for travellers but I think they at least need to do a real good fresh produce/ homestyle menu to give it some kind of edge , although its remoteness may have something to do with that. But staff were great and drinks were cold.

Enjoyable”
Loved the poetry readings and position of hotel to Matilda centre, Arni wall, music junk, truck museum and the show was on 7,8,& 9 June.

Iconic but costly”
An iconic hotel but the cost was ridiculous. I promised my wife a stay there and it fulfilled the "dream", BUT in hindsight we could have stayed ANYWHERE but here and just had a beer and meal.

Not as advertised ”
Please beware - this hotel is very misleading. If you think it’s going to be Art Deco it’s only in reception and dining room. The front of the hotel is blocked off because of road works. The back is blocked up by campers. So guests have to park a block away, tough when you have luggage and 3 year old. Rooms are old, dark, no effective aircon and extremely noisy overlooking the beer garden. Not appropriate for a young family.

NGH great place ”
I pass through Winton a couple of times a year and this was my first stay at the North Gregory Hotel (NGH). A most interesting deco, mixed 40s/50s/60's art deco, including cut glass features. Most trips I'm passing during the day but this time I booked a room and arrived early afternoon and spent the rest of the day wandering around town as a huge storm brewed in the south east. Got some great pictures. People in the opal shops were very friendly, informative and personable. Next time I'll make it a couple of days, use the historic NGH as a base, checking out Opalton and other local enviors.
