Good price for location
The hotel is an historic victorian mansion located in a central part of the city with subway access steps away. Fair price for the location and the rooms are clean if a bit tired feeling.
The rooms feel a little run down and the neighborhood itself is a bit sketchy. Don't walk south on Sherbourne, crack heads everywhere, go right to the subway and head downtown or walk 1 block west to Yonge street to walk downtown.
I have used this place several times now as it is in a really good location for the price charged. I like the feel of the old Victorian mansion but the rooms are a bit run down, although always clean. Staff is good and helpful. Subway is only half a block away. Downtown is a short walk or subway ride. But don't walk down Sherbourne, go west 1 block to Yonge first before going downtown to avoid the crack heads.

Price is right
Very good price for the location. Quick access to the subway. Clean rooms, would stay again.
Dodgy neighbourhood. Don't walk south on Sherbourne. Old decor and old building but functional.
I would recommend this place to anyone who is a bit budget conscious but wants to stay close to the downtown core. Way cleaner than any of the sketchy hostels downtown, good showers, steps away from the Bloor/Danforth subway line. You can walk right downtown in 15 minutes, just be sure to go west to Yonge before venturing south. Sherbourne is crack town.

Nice building, bad area
Cool old mansion, very accessible to the transit system, easy to get anywhere in the city by public transit or taxi. Clean, good water pressure, nice little suites on the top floor.
Bad neighbourhood, tons of crackheads to the south along Sherbourne but easily avoidable by walking east or west along Bloor before going south. Old feeling rooms.
If you want to be pretty much in the heart of things at a budget price this is the best option in the city. I've used it several times before and can't find a better deal. The Bond place right at Yonge and Dundas is good too but can be quite noisy. This place allows for a bit more peace and quiet while being a mere 10-15 minute subway ride from everthing from the entertainment district, to shopping, to China town, to Greek town. Just pick a direction and go.

Great price, good hotel
continental breakfast was above average, hotel was in a good location (walking distance to everything you would want to visit in Toronto), and the room was pretty clean. While nothing was exceptional, it was certainly worth the price.
We had a bit of trouble getting the wifi to work, but the hotel staff helped us promptly.
Overall, Clarion was definitely worth the money we paid. Recommended for students or young couples especially, or anyone looking to not pay too much. Hotel staff was helpful and the continental breakfast was good, which is always a plus. Nothing in the hotel seemed particularly nice or luxuriant, but you probably aren't considering this hotel if that's what you care about (you're visiting the city, not the hotel, right?).

Nice place to stay
Clean room, Nice service
Old fashion Elevator
The hotel is nice and clean. The staffs are friendly and provide good customr services. The hotel is very close by subway station, just a block away that you can walk there. You can get anywhere around downtown within five minutes by taking subway. Bars and restaurant are around the hotel to dine or drink. Bus stop is cross the street from hotel if you like to take a bus to go someshere, like downtown. Hotel provides nice breakfast that you do not have to go out for breakfast. Overall nice to stay at this hotel.

Cheap but Basic
Cheap, in downtown.
no free parking
The hotel is located in downtown but one has to drive or take a subway to reach there. For driving the hotel charges a parking fee of CAD 15 per night. There is a separate parking lot which is cheaper just opposite. The rooms are OK although a little small. The hotel reception is very friendly although there is usually only one staff there. The breakfast is surprisingly good for value for money. Internet booking through agoda is much cheaper than rack rate or direct booking with hotel.

Good value for cost
-Cheap -Clean -Free breakfast -Close to the subway and yorkville shops
- Cleaning came after 12pm but was not a big deal at all.
For the cost this hotel was great. We were able to access the subway in minutes and go anywhere downtown. They included a simple breakfast which was nice and let us save that money for other things throughout the day. The staff was helpful as well.

nice place to live at the heart of downtown tor
customer services, clean room, quite and nice breakfast.
elevater looks old fashion; when you have something on your both hand it's hard to open elevator door which is manual door.
Nice, clean, quiet and good service hotel. Best part it is at the heart of downtown toronto. Subway is a minute walk to get where ever you want. No disturb during my stayed. Politeness staffs at the frontdest. Breakfast was awesome with verities. Block away a bar & grill to enjoy night. All clubs are couple of station away from the minute away subway station from the hotel which probably takes less than 10 munutes. I stayed at the hotel everytime I went to toronto which is about twice two night a month. So far I stayed at hotel about 5-6 times most of them two nights and never had any problem with anything. In this reasonable price at heart of the city is awesome. I will recommend everyone to try once you will stay there time to time.

Clean, convenient location, good value
Located about 300M from the subway, minutes to the downtown core. Excellent price and clean rooms.
Expensive parking, bit of a sketchy neighbourhood. Walk directly to subway, no exporing around here.
The Clarion Selby is located very conveniently, only several hundred meters from a subway station. You can be in the heart of the downtown core within minutes. The rooms are very clean and well equipped for the price you are paying. The neighbourhood isn't the best around Sherbourne station which is why it is good that the station and hotel are so close together. Parking is a bit pricey at $15/night in an open lot.

Good value for money
- Close to Yorkville and literally across the street from the subway atation. - Breakfast was more substantial than the traditional 'croissant & coffee' - on-premises parking
Too much construction around yhe hotel
The hotel, although older, was quite clean and well-maintained. The check-in was effecient and professional and the clerk was quite attentive and professional in his duties. He was also very helpful in pointing out the subway station location and had answers for all my other questions. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, with provision for toast (both white & brown), bagels, cereal, fruit, juices and coffee/tea (I had expected a stale croissant and coffee). Good value for the money .. especially with the Agoda rate!
