New Block rooms more modern but original block being renovated”
This was my third stay in two months. The first stay room was in the original block and in great need of upgrading - this time I asked for a room in the more modern block beyond the outdoor swimming pool which was much better with quality fittings (but no bath, there's always a downside!). Had a couple of local (Stella) beers in the evening which were a very reasonable price, however smoking is allowed in lobby/bar areas so it can be unpleasant for non smokers. Breakfast seemed to be served in three separate areas which appeared to be for airline inclusive guests, group guests and other guests. I was redirected to the latter and the buffet was extremely good with a multitude of choices - even a grill chef for omelettes, and very good value too. Room check-out was 12noom so, as my flight was not until 3pm I used the pool facilities until then and checked out shortly after this time - saying I wanted to take the 12.30pm shuttle (which runs every 30 minutes - IN PRINCIPLE! - read on) At 12.35 I asked the doorman when the shuttle would be leaving and he told me to sit by the door. At 12.40 I asked again and eventually went to the front desk to be told to wait where I was. At 12.45, with no shuttle, I went back to the front desk - to be told by another receptionist that - "the 12.30 shuttle has gone" I was extremely annoyed and asked to see the Duty Manager. He offered to pay for a taxi but I declined and waited for the 13.00 bus. A very flustered bus driver appeared at 12.55 and he spent the entire journey complaining that he had started at 7am and this was the first chance to get something to eat. I was unimpressed with this aspect of the hotel service. One point to note is that, to ensure a pick up from the airport, you are asked to make a local call to the hotel. This would have cost me a fortune using my overseas cell phone so here's a tip. Wait for the Inter-Terminal bus (blue) and ask the driver to drop you off at the Novotel. Sometimes you have to change buses (

Much better room in new block across pool”
Last time room was in original block and needed upgrading. This time I asked for a room in the new block across the swimming pool area. The difference was amazing - this one was bright and modern. Booked pyramids sound and light show with travel agent in lobby and was generally happy although driver tried to charge for entry tickets which we refused to pay. After a bit of a stand off he agreed to get them. show worth going to. Driver offered papyrus and gem exhibition which we had to decline at least three times before he got the message. He did take us to rooftop bar with great view of pyramids and sphinx which was good. Left hotel at 5pm, got back at 9 and had dinner on hotel main restaurant by pool - it was a buffet and good vfm.

Acceptable”
Rooms were not clean, hotel is rundown outside of the lobby. The shuttle service (main reason we stayed here) was unreliable.

Two nights in Cairo”
The hotel is superbly located near the airport. There is a free shuttle bus every half hour. Cairo traffic is very heavy and stressfully, so being next to the airport is a very big plus. The standard rooms are nice, but the bathrooms are equipped with very high bathtubs. The chief housekeeper saw that my diminutive wife would not be able to use it and immediately call Reception and got us transferred to a Superior room with a walk in shower at no extra charge. The various restaurants have a nice selection of various foods and the prices are very moderate. My only issue was with the person manning the travel desk who tried to gouge me on a taxi. Since I am conversant with Egyptian prices, I just call the Cairo based London Cab Co. and paid circa 25% of what he tried to collect.

Decent stay”
Prompt in communication. Free shuttle was major draw for me and they did it twice impecably. Representative was already next to arriving gate, helped with visa, whisked through immigration and I was on a bus. Ride lasted 2 min and voila, check in was done. One has to be familiar with carelesness and roughness of Egyptians, yet they care more then those who pretend to deliver service with fake smile. Loved it, would use it again. Perfect for transfers, for city trips, could be issue but über worked well. I had updated room and it was comfy, clean and quite. Havent tried food. Recommend!
