Very good waterfront location next to Deakin Unive”
We were in Geelong for our son's graduation ceremony at Deakin University. The Novotel Geelong location is next to the Deakin University, which suit our purpose of stay very well. The staff are friendly and welcoming us politely. Nice view to the sea from our hotel balcony. Dinner at the Novotel restaurant was nice.
Nice Hotel in Geelong”
Nice hotel on the waterfront at Geelong. Room was a good size. We didn't eat at the hotel but had a drink late Saturday night after attending a function down the street - very nice watching the world go past. Will stay again if heading to Geelong
Great value hotel”
The Novotel Geelong hotel rates well as a 4-star hotel. The staff were very helpful and the rooms comfortable. This hotel is handy to the CBD and close to the harbour.
Stay in Geelong”
This Hotel was well presented and we had good views of the Geelong waterfront. Unfortunately there was no free parking although valet parking for a fee was offered
Nice overnight stay”
It's in a great location, close to everything Geelong has to offer. We had a king room and the room was very clean, renovated and the bed was very comfortable. The staff member upon check in was fairly cold, understandably they were busy with a huge wedding, but that's actually not my fault or problem. A smile wouldn't have hurt. There was a mix up at breakfast, we had this included in our package but the resturant didn't seem aware of this. Again, this big Jewish wedding seemed to still be causing chaos, as they expected us to to be part of that. In this instance, the resturant manager fixed the problem quickly and really nicely!! Over all, a good stay. It's too pricey for what it is. 5 star prices for a 3 star experince.
Great spot for Geelong Revival weekend, and rooms are great.
The hidden extras”
We both lived near Geelong and were familiar with the area, we were returning after 12 years away for a funeral. We booked a room with a balcony as we are both smokers, have travelled extensively and always been able to smoke on the balcony, it was not until I was signing the paperwork upon arrival that I was told there was no smoking on the balcony and there would be a $200 fee if there was evidence of smoking in the room or on the balcony. We had a hire car and were charged a $25.00 valet parking fee, the hotel car park was 5 metres from the entrance. We were aware upon booking that breakfast was not included, however the hotel charged $30.00 for a very basic, second rate breakfast which we didn't order and found many good places to have breakfast close to the hotel. The staff were not particularly welcoming or friendly and it was not pleasant to walk past a bucket and mop left for 2 hours in the hallway to get to our room. Although the bathroom was OK, the shower is over the small bath and the shower curtain stuck to you - yuk!
I feel that the hotel facilities are fine. Good warm Swimming pool and newly renovated rooms. The cafe has decent food and friendly staff. However, the reception staff all looked so serious and not really service oriented. It’s a real pity. The road leading to the hotel was closed on Saturday due to the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival. So I asked one of the reception staff how I could get transport out with all my luggage. She said “I don’t know...” Don’t even offered to book a taxi until I asked her to book one after I tried to book an Uber myself but not successful as the driver couldn’t drive in. If the hotel wants to welcome guests, please ask all reception staff to be more friendly and service oriented.
Had a great stay. Centrally located to everywhere we needed. Would have been nice to have some patio furniture so that we could enjoy the balcony we paid extra for. Must keep guests informed of kitchen times. We called for room service at 8:40pm to be told kitchen is closed but could access the buffet for $30 per head. We only wanted a light snack. Very friendly and helpful staff. Had a very pleasant stay.
Lovely hotel to stay in. We were overlooked somewhat in our room and had partial sea view. Next time I would get the rooms facing the ocean. Pool was nice but a little cold. Great location. We walked everywhere and free parking out on the main road. Would definitely stay again.
Style location staff”
I needed a place to spend the night during a conference at the nearby Waterfront campus. This hotel fitted the bill very well and suited the purposes entirely. I was so busy with the conference that I didn't have time to appreciate the hotel properly and another time I would like to spend more time there and enjoy it more. Staff very helpful with string bags before and after my stay. Very positive experience though the breakfast seemed pretty expensive at just under $40.
Great location, friendly staff ”
Had a girls night away with a friend, perfect location, staff were really friendly. Reasonably priced, bar fridge also wasn’t badly priced neither was room service - thank you x
Convenient location with sea view”
It was a pleasant experience staying on this hotel. The only setback is my room being right above the roof. The view really sucks.
We stayed 2 nights checking in after our wedding. Staff were lovely and congratulated us and extended our check out to late check-out. Found a heart made out of red flower petals on our bed but no other upgrades for our honeymoon which was a little disappointing. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast buffet was also great.
Location Location ”
Well positioned opposite the bay with lovely walking running swimming and dining options right outside. Room was clean well set up with a lovely comfy bed. Gym was a bit Spartanjust a few running machines and one cross trainer and no weights. Friendly staff
Loved our stay”
Grace at the front desk was truly delightful. Vallet service wonderful. Room was beautiful with waterfront views. Only downside was our sleep in was interrupted by the renovations but that was minor.
Great location! ”
Right across the road from the bay, and right in front of the large shopping complex. Room was large, bed was comfy, staff efficient. Valet Parking is $25 a day - only option; better than no parking
Lovely stay, the hotel is located perfectly. Only gripe is for a 14yo hotel the bathrooms are old and need a refurb especially the shower.
Great location best in Geelong ”
Great hotel , breakfast only let down every table was dirty as they seemed to be low on staff
Comfortable and relaxing”
The airconditioning was great, really helped when the heatwave came. TV channels were good. Room was comfortable. I really recommend enjoying dinner at the restaurant.
