Perched on Cliff Road on Wollongong's North Beach, this up-market property offers views of Norfolk Island Pines and calm harbor waters. Just across the road from the city's most popular stretch of sand, the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach provides all things to all people, being the only hotel of its class on the water's edge. For couples, there's the romance of sea-facing boutique rooms, and families can enjoy the proximity of Stuart Park's barbecues and bike trails, while executives have long used this establishment as a base for their Wollongong dealings. It's a 10-minute bus ride into the central business district from here, but this location has some of the area's best seafood restaurants, and for a more traditional and cost effective Wollongong dinner, the local fish and chip shops offer the best of the harbor's daily catch.

Pleasant stay”
First time visiting Wollongong and chose to stay in Novotel Northbeach. The location is excellent! It is just the opposite of North Beach, walking distance to North Wollongong train station, and there is a bus stop just outside the main entrance. In terms of restaurants, there are not many of them nearby the hotel, might need to walk to the city centre to get more options. My room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, I had good night sleep throughout my stay. The reception and dining staff were very friendly and nice. I would highly recommend this hotel for weekend getaway or short family holiday.
Beautiful hotel with great location”
My husband and I both really enjoyed our stay at the Novotel. The location next to the beach was amazing. We also went to WIN stadium which was an easy 20 minute walk along the beach from the hotel so it was perfect for us as we did not know the area at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful and would highly reccomend for anyone to stay there. The rooms were a great size and had nice views. Overall was amazing night in Wollongong.
Great service with an amazing view ”
Really enjoyable. Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Ocean View Room and the view was beautiful. Staff responded to all requests quickly (e.g. extra pillows, international plug converter etc). Buffet breakfast had a good selection - would have been better if buffet ended around 11 or 1130. Otherwise, great stay! A must try is SKYDIVING which is just 5 mins away from Novotel Northbeach Hotel - most amazing experience ever!!
Clean but out dated”
Staff were great by relocating us to a better room on another floor due to the room given to us that was not private enough, many of the rooms are like that due to the hotels layout and design. All the rooms had the shower in the bath tub with the old shower curtains, so out dated but still clean. Bed was comfy and also the TV was larger than most hotels , 42". All and all though it was comfortable and quite even though there was a wedding function on but I'd probably look elsewhere for better deal next time I visit Wollongong
Wonderful hotel, spotless and comfortable”
This hotel is one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in around the world. Rooms are large and lovely beach feel with the blue and green colours. Staff friendly and helpful. Part beach view from our bed room 832, lovely to wake up with the large windows showing the sun coming up over the water and the lighthouse. The Kiosk across the road on the beach has the best ever hamburgers. Would go back to Wollongong for another one.
Standard hotel, not really 4 stars”
Novotel Northbeach is a fairly standard 3.5 star hotel/motel, not quite 4 stars. The room was dated. The bathroom was old, had some grime on the tiles and an old shower curtain. Also, my partner and I found the bed mattress quite comfortable but the sheets and blankets very thin. However, it was clean and had a lovely view of the beach. We also had complimentary breakfast - the offering was mostly your "big breakfast" items (bacon, eggs, sausages etc) but it was delicious. The location is perfect if you're there for the beach (which we were) but it's not exactly central to Wollongong's main streets. You still need to drive to get anywhere, and there didn't seem to be many shops or people around the area either. The attentiveness of the staff should be complimented. When asking reception for bathroom extras (e.g. toothpaste and toothbrush), they were very friendly and very quick to assist. Overall, a decent stay if you can get a good rate. Not convinced that this hotel is worth the $200+ a night though.
nice hotel with good view”
This hotel is very nicely located in Wollongong, very close to the beach. Even though the price is high, but it is acceptable.
it suited my needs very well.”
I came to wollongong for my girls to go on a dance camp so wanted accomodation to suit me. Gym, close to beach undercover parking and clean. I will be back next January.
Comfortable and Convenient”
The Northbeach Novotel is very spacious and comfortable, lovely lounge areas & good breakfast. The real attraction; however is the easy access to spectacular beaches and the beautiful Stewart Park, just a few metres down the road. This would be great for a relaxing getaway or family holiday.
Lovely hotel; probably needs an update. ”
We had a room looking out on the roof with the aircon unit on it, so not very exciting. However, we always enjoy our stay at Novotel Northbeach and this time was no exception.
Birthday Surprise”
It was a lovely stay, unfortunately the hotel couldn't upgrade us from a city view room to an ocean view room as there were no rooms left for upgrade, considering I paid a good price for 1 night stay in holiday time. Our room was a nice size, the bathroom was big & had been renovated. The hotel needs a refurbishment eg: carpets in the hallways & painting needed, after refurbishment I would grade it as a 4 star hotel (Novotel Brighton Beach is nicer) Staff at reception & the bar couldn't have been more helpful & friendly, wonderful service from the waitress Elise G in the Windjammer Restaurant on Saturday night 9th Jan. Location is great, hotel is opposite the beach.
Great location, tired hotel”
the novotel has seen much better days, the decor is old and tired. our room had a bathroom with chipped tiles. the bed was extremely soft, there was no tv movie option paid or free. it was an extremely rainy weekend and having access to movies would have been a big improvement. the staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful, however i wouldn't recommend the novotel. you can get a much newer, cleaner hotel for the same price in wollongong and this is what we will do if we travel there again.
Great Location”
Best thing about this hotel is the location right in front of beautiful north Wollongong beach. We had full buffet dinner and breakfast while we are staying but I think those are over priced. Hotel itself was very old and they kept some of the pillows bottom of the wardrobe where you would usually put your shoes. They don't have bath robes and their bed and towel looked bit old too. I would rate this hotel about 2.5-3star motel not 4.5 star hotel.
it was ok needs to be updated a bit”
It was okay it is probably the nicest hotel in Wollongong with the view and it is centrally located the rooms need to be updated a bit
Good stay.”
Attended a conference in Wollongong. Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It was a good stay. Would stay again.
Very good experience except for breakfast”
The next time I book at the Novotel I'm not going to have breakfast included. The dining area was very crowded and noisy compared to the rest of the hotel. It would be better if we went to one of the cafes close by. There are plenty to choose from.
Amazing location”
Clean and modern hotel like any Novotel - our room was massive with very comfy bed - although I got the impression the building itself is dated. Staff were Friendly and there is a great beach bar downstairs - hotel is literally on the beachfront (and a great cafe too) - whilst I don't get the impression this hotel is complacent because of the location I got the feeling it should be better; like most hotels in Australia this place is expensive compared to what is on offer at this price point in the USA or Asia for example
Long Weekend in March”
The Novotel staff made this weekend special. Everyone was friendly and attentive and nothing was a problem. Highly recommended and commended especially Carl, Alana and Michael in reception and Emily in Windjammers. Thank you all.
comfortable with excellent location but expensive”
Our stay was pleasant although rather expensive. When we arrived we were disappointed to find out we were required to pay an extra $AU15 if we wanted secure parking. The room was neat, tidy and comfortable with excellent views of either the city of the beach from the higher floors. The buffet breakfast was delicious with wide variety but there seemed to be too many people for the space and we had to wait 5mins to be seated - Extremely busy but well managed.
Mean”
Being asked to pay an extra $50 as a sort of bond which will be refunded FiVE working days after we leave is absolute rubbish. Had ai known that ACCOR had taken over Novotel I would not have booked there as have had copped that crap before from them. Also noted that the little packet of TWO biscuits among the tea and coffee stuff that are complimentary everywhere else were listed on the mini bar menu as costing six bucks. Ridiculous especially at the prices charged for the room.
