Perfect place to rest for a couple of days
The map is unclear and yes the hotel is along the beach, the villas are across the street. The breakfast is excellent: good variety for both Europeans and Asians, good quality, although the room is noisy like a cantine. We had a standard room facing the jungle, which was correctly renovated, however it was smelly and stuffy. I believe it was due to the lack of air. A sticker recommended to keep the sliding door to the balcony closed due to mosquitoes. A mosquito screen and a simple fan in the room would help! Some good "thai style" fragrance too. The swimming pools were fantastic and excellent massage by the beach at reasonable price. Nothing around the hotel, a few bars and a simple restaurant with great food and great price prepared and served by great people. Overall this was an excellent destination to rest for the week-end.

Novotel Rayong
Novotel was a nice stay for us during a long holiday weekend. We got off to a bad start when the reception demanded 2000 baht or a credit card to secure the minibar. We never use the minibar and felt as if they were implying that we would leave without paying our bill. This was very insulting and a really bad way to begin our stay, especially at a 4 star resort. The bed was a torture and the pillow was as thin as a sheet of paper. There was only one extra pillow. There was also only one umbrella provided during rainy season. There was no water pressure in the shower and little hot water. I would qualify it as barely warm. Our room did not respond to the key card after one day and we had to go to reception to get it sorted. Parking was difficult to find and the guards were barely helpful in this regard. Things got better from there, however. The resort is nice with a lovely beach. The pools provided plenty of room for the many guests. The restaurant was ok, but pricey for what you get. Breakfast was fine. Overall, this was a nice stay, mostly due to the beautiful beach and the close proximity to many beachfront dining options that offer far better food at much better value.
