Love the old decor and lovely food”
We took the Japanese room (superior) for the 3 of us and it was of a traditional Japanese style. It was also large and spacious. Slept on the futon which was surprisingly comfortable. The only issue was that the AC was weak. A fan would have been quite nice as it was a bit warm during summer. But we opened the windows and it was fine at night. The adjoining public onsen via the 4th floor bridge was great. We went there 2x a day. There were various pools of differing types - a large onsen, a hydrogen one, an outdoor one, a sauna and a flower onsen with tea coloured water. During the night it switches with the day one for each gender so each gender gets a feel of either onsen. However one really has to be naked except for a face towel to be placed in front for modesty. However the locals did not bother. After the 3-4th time, i did not bother too much. There is a lounge with refreshing lime-flavoured water. Also in the basement - a 150-year (?) old onsen which was free. Will come again.
Nice staff and considerate services”
Had a great and pleasant two-night stay at Hotel Munin. Staff was extremely helpful with the booking and was very reliable when we needed help. Each room has a mobile phone travelers can bring along with as they hang out.
Best traditional hot spring resort”
They hv d traditional n modern hot spring n many unique foot spa etc Restaurant food n buffet breakfast is fantastic!! Will definitely come back again :)
the Hotel is well located in heart of Jozankei.”
The location is Top. Onsen on the 5th is not the same as in the ads picture. but stills, it is ok. My stay is dinner and breakfast included. Dinner is Japanese style. Breakfast is Japanese buffet. Both are excellent!
Michelin Star ryokan”
A ryokan that gives you a rustic feel. It seems popular with locals ( mostly older folks), staff are friendly and service is just excellent. We booked a room with a private Onsen and my young daughter enjoyed it. Dinner was good but not fantastic though still much better than the breakfast. There is nothing much to do in Jozankei if you are not an Onsen buff.
Perfect Way to Experience Japan”
My husband and i were pleasantly surprised with the traditional japanese ambiance of this onsen. Everything was perfect form the punctual shuttle to the clean and beautiful accomdation, helpful staff and the impressive ten course dinner. The atmosphere has the warmth and comfort of home. We would certainly come back with our children next year.
There is a public onsen (separate genders) in the basement level and one level of private onsens which you need to book in advance. We tried both, both clean and tidy. Had free parking. The breakfast and dinner were great, however, it needs some aircon in the lower dining level. The dining atmosphere was great, the staffs were friendly, even though they had limited English. Definitely come back for the onsen.
Rejuvenating authentic Japanese experience”
We absolutely loved our stay here- the dinner was one of the highlights of our entire trip to Japan. There is a convenient shuttle from Sapporo and free parking if you prefer to drive, and once you’re all checked in the only thing in your agenda is to eat delicious food and sit in an onsen. The hospitality is just incredible. We needed to use some Japanese language, in case that’s important to you, but we were the only foreigners there which made the experience even better. If we are ever able to visit Hokkaido again, we will absolutely be back.
Unique Japanese Ryokan Experience”
Overall the hotel stay was excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful, but I felt they were a bit nervous in dealing with English-speaking guests. The private hot spring bath was a bit small - I'm 6-foot tall and I had some difficulties in fitting myself into the tub. The Japanese style dinner and breakfast were excellent. (N.B. This is the fourth onsen ryokan we had stayed in Japan).
Quaint ryokan in a serene town. Bus stop short walk & souvenir snack stalks around...”
Room is clean & great to have outdoor onsen in winter! Gotta line the steps with non slip mats though as it can get quite slippery when the snow melts...
onsen hotel with good ambience ”
Love their food and onsen.
Travel partners and i were enjoyed during the stay. Clean, tidy, lovely and great view (especially the onsen). We enjoyed their full course dinner and breakfast buffet as well.
Good stay, excellent kaiseki”
Good stay, excellent kaiseki, free parking available
Stayed here for one night with my 16 year old son. Booked the shuttle from Sapporo, so logistics were so easy. You need to pack nothing for this hotel — they have every amenity including cozy pants/jackets to wear around the property. The outdoor onsen on the 8th floor was my favorite; so peaceful with the sound of trickling water and the cool breezes.. Food was very good; we enjoyed the breakfast buffet more than the dinner though. Don’t miss the Hokkaido yogurt! Facilities were spotless, staff was lovely. 20 hours in paradise!
Nukumorino was wonderful. The service was excellent and dinner (we opted for irori seating) was mouthwatering - it took 2 hours for us to complete our dinner! Special compliments to the staff who waited on us during the dinner - he was such an efficient worker and friendly too, it's such a pity I did not get his name. It was truly a traditional experience worth going for! :)
amazing quality ryoken”
I have only excellent things to say about this place. Energetic and extremely pleasant staff, fabulous accomodation, sumptuous food. Beautiful different places to sit and eat.luxurious beds (even though we got futons instead of normal beds...which I didn't think I'd be ok with but slept like a log!) Caters for both eastern and western tastes. I feel like we got a real taste of upmarket Japanese culture.
The price is a bit steep as for what they have to offer. Authentic ryokan experienced, lobby atmosphere and facilities was good. Dinner was delicious and breakfast choices was simple. The down side would be old room layout and very dusty room and bathroom.
Room was great and comfortable. It would be good if the environmental controls in the room had English translation to it. We loved the experience in using the kakebuton duvet, but it got very warm with central heating. Dinner was a unique and memorable experience for us.
Clean rooms, polite staffs (as most of all hotels in Japan:) Breakfast choices was abundant, not the best at this price range. Hotel offers free shuttle bus to and from, make sure you ask. We did not know so we only used the drop off service (hard time communicating in English but worth a try).
Enjoyed our stay at this traditional ryokan and its onsen”
Glad that we chose this ryokan and stayed in special room (room 721 ) which was a suite room with its own private bath. Service was great and food was delicious. Onsen was traditional and we also went to their 100 year bath which is located in the basement. We had an enjoyable and relaxing stay at this beautiful ryokan.
