Good location but the cleanliness can be improved
Had to wait 40min for check in”
Their service is terrible. One of the receptionists left her spot and only one guy was helping people check in, and when she returned she helped someone else who came after me which definitely made feel like I was ignored. Also they didn’t give me any instruction to access the room, I didn’t know my room was in a different building, so I ended up taking all my luggages back and forth.
More bad than good.”
Housekeeping only cam to our room once, on the last day of our stay, after complaining that we needed new towels and toilet paper 3 time. On one night the night club bouncer would not let my girlfriend in even though she had her room key as required to enter. Salad we got from the restaurant had unwashed lettuce, tomatoes that tasted like they were weeks old, and blue cheese crumbles that didn't crumble, but was just soggy. I know it's an older hotel, but no vending services or ice dispenser on any floor. If you want ice you have to go down to the bar and hope that it's not busy just to get a bucket of ice. The only good things about this hotel was that most of the staff was very friendly and it's in a great location to walk one block to the Fremont Street experience.
Passing through ”
My stay was short (one night). The location wasn't what I expected (not on the strip). The taxi driver warned me the location is not fit for after dark touring. Upon my arrival, I was dropped off at a nightclub which turned out to be merged with the hotel. The atmosphere in the club was good, and the room was clean. Overall, not a bad experience, but for the cost... I could have stayed at a much better location closer to the strip.
Goid place if all you need is a Mattress and TV ”
I ordered a room with two queen beds. When we checked in we only received one bed. Because it was New Year's Eve there were no other options available. The service was terrible. They do not have rollaway beds or any options. So I requested extra bedding and a pillow so that my guest could sleep on the floor. The extra bedding never showed up. We went down to the check-in desk and asked for the bedding a 2nd time. We had to go down to the front desk in person because there are no phones in the room! Imagine if there was a disturbance or physical altercation in the hallway or if you had an emergency? You are SOL unless you have the hotel's phone number on speed dial in your cell phone! So after a night of partying, my roommate slept on the floor utilizing the towels from the bathroom as his bedding and covers. How absolutely ridiculous is that! Not a bad place to stay if you're drunk and don't care where you lay your head. However we do!
I was surprised to see ear plugs inside the room, but soon realized the need for it at nights. The rooms that I got was facing the road and the noise bothered me while trying to get some sleep. And I am an easy sleeper. I asked for another room which wasn't facing the road, but I was told I got the least noisy room. The ear plugs helped though.
not very happy when we ordered food and waited over 30 minutes for hummus and staff was rude”
when we tried coming into the facility we were asked for ID's and room key cards and escorted to elevators and told we could not come back down. do not think wee will stay there again
House Party hosting only, no sleeping possible ”
We booked the Sugar Shack for one night. I did not realize that music and lights would be glaring until 4am. Know that if you book the room, it is not for a restful night. You are literally in the center of an outdoor nightclub. Yes, there are games, a DJ a bar and great atmosphere, but unless you are planning on staying up all night, the room is NOT a good choice. Side note, the beds have no blankets, the heat doesn’t work, and if you plug in more than one item at a time, the fuses blow. The outdoor heaters are broken and the private fire pit in your “private” yard are out of order. The private yard, is not private, gobs of Gold Spike customers were undeterred from using the tables and chairs. A long, loud night. Highly recommended for twenty somethings!
Nobody told us that Friday’s and Saturday’s there are huge backyard parties with live bands. My room was right above the party. It wasn’t just a party it was a rock concert and the bed was vibrating from the base and noise... it was going on all night till early morning ours. They could have at least asked us when checking in if we were planning to sleep or party. No party pooper but seriously this was rediculous...
Not sure which was worse, staying there or not staying there!”
-Overbooked -Diverted to new hotel -Didn't want to provide transportation to new hotel -New hotel was a cesspool of cigarette smoke and extremely loud partying -Upon walking back to hotel in the morning I noticed that the hotel nightclub featured an image of handcuffs, which explained some of the noise complaints the front desk was fielding while I had waited fro transportation the night before. Suggestions: -entrance needs much bigger signage and lights -clean up the lobby/hall check in area -form relationships with taxi/Uber/Lyft drivers for providing transportation to customers
We loved going downstairs for all of the activities like darts, skee ball, giant connect four, and foosball. Then outside there was shuffleboard, beer pong, hooka, four corners, tether ball, and giant chess, jenga, and corn hole. The biggest problem we had was having to find and pay for parking. There are two small parking lots that you can stay in for free with a parking pass you get when you register but those two lots are also available for anyone as Park and Pay.
UN ATTENTIVE, RUDE CUSTOMER SERIVCE. ”
we wanted the stay in las vegas, as we do every year to be special and this time we thought it more important to give back to the local community and stay at gold spike. never again. the front desk and reps and manager have terrible attitudes, no thanks, we're going back to spending our money on the strip and giving corporate business our money and be treated like kings/queens instead. no thanks gold spike, keep your attitudes in old vegas, such a shame for millenials like us that care about thriving local communities, not worth the money youre saving. back to the strip!!
Ok for short stay.”
Location is not bad, rooms can be quite different ....had 2 different ones for the same price during my stay, definitely not the same quality...friendly staff, ok for short stay
Great value but obviously not for young children.”
Very clean, but we had young children. But that's on us to do more research. Kids lived the room though :)
They are pet friendly, but no bags for the dog droppings
Bands played right outside the north facing tower rooms unit 1:30 am. Even though we booked the Oasis were put in the tower called the Gold Spike. We asked to be relocated to the more trendy Oasis after a rough night in the tower. Coffe was great. Staff was friendly. Pool water was too cold to swim in
Nice little hotel, friendly helpful staff, clean, could be a bit noisy at times but your in Vegas in Downtown, has pool tables table tennis, outdoor disco and roller skating at night, beds very comfortable, good shower and flat screen tv with many channels, security good, I would stay there again.
Yikes! Crickets and roach in room.”
No real check-in, staff except Rose not interested, rooms very small, no fridge or microwave, floor filthy (my bare feet were black in seconds), ejected 2 crickets but a third in the a/c all night, convinced a cockroach to vanish behind the boards, noisy floor in room above, front entrance path unsuitable for wheelchairs, dust and muck in corners, extremely noisy, generally the worst experience of a hotel in the USA I have had. Spent the night and got out!
Good place to post up and relax, socialize ”
Great value for the money and pretty chill staff wish they had a few more rooms but then it would still be booked to the max!
We had a few days off and wanted to have some fun without splurging.”
The Gold Spike was a lot of fun. It's an adult playground with games everywhere. The room itself was clean and minimalist. Our room was above the 'backyard' so it got pretty loud, but earplugs were provided. Nice touch. I liked being 1 street away from Fremont Street. Close and also far from the crazy. I would definitely stay at the Oasis again. Thanks.
