Just okay”
Our room carpet smell is very bad. One staff ask us to take luggage trolley by ourselves and later return to the lobby. what a nice service! Also, another staff gives wrong information about Starbucks location and we've ride bicycles about an hour facing the sun. The good point is to get a free shuttle ride from Hualien Station to the hotel. And prepared earlier breakfast for us as we need to check out early.

A small reasonable hotel”
I picked it for the price, was looking for a reasonable place to stay in Hualien City. Its a basic hotel, don't expect any luxury. The room was clean and quite, with a safe, descent internet and a comfortable double bed. Breakfast was satisfactory, a bit limited and repetitive, but will fill your belly for the morning. Staff were nice. The location is a bit far from anything, except the coastal bicycle/walking path which stretches along the coast for a few kilometers. Has a great time walking along this path. Food choices in the area are limited, and nearest 7-11 is about 10 minutes walk.

Our stay at Ocean Hotel was superb. Definitely MUST be recommended. We took a cab/Taxi to the hotel as we didn't arranged with the hotel for pickup service (FOC) from the train station. Mr Chen had been a very nice guy to shuttle us to downtown for dinner/city tour and to the train station when we checked out. The staffs were very friendly and approachable. There's bicycles available for rental at a reasonable price at the hotel. Just a short walk could bring us to park, 7-eleven, Pacific Ocean (though not the sandy part but we could view it from our room... there's a port there). In a nutshell, if we ever return to Hualien for a retreat, we will pick Ocean Hotel again for sure! Love the room, love our stay!

got a great view of the sea from my room. the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. suggested a few places of interest for us. the only problem is that its off the city centre so not much to do at night unless u take a cab out. not a lot of eateries around either. wife and i had to walk quite a far bit before we found lunch. but i think most of hualien is like that. would be great if you had transport arrangements when you stay in hualien.

Cute small hotel by the beach”
Overall, this was a lovely little hotel. The rooms are well looked after and cleaned immaculately. The location is overlooking the port of Hualien and it's a 15 minute walk to the centre of town. The only drawback was the advertised bar (which is on the roof) and the restaurant were not open the two days my partner I stayed there so we had to venture out for food and drink. This was okay by us as there are plenty of restaurants in the area and there are several convenience stores next door to the hotel.

Transport between hotel and train station is provided. But restricted to a certain time frame. View was ok. Faces the ocean but you'll be looking at hualien port. Location was a bit far from city. So for every meal I had to take a taxi out. Although bicycles were available for rental at the hotel, I wanted better options. But the hotel staff had no idea where else I could rent. Managed to find Giant bikes near the train station.

Very nice hotel”
This hotel is small, but the rooms are very neat. Our room had a small balcony that was glassed in with a view of the Pacific Ocean. The staff spoke enough English to help us with any requests we had. The breakfast was more local than western, however it was good. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers. For the price it was a bargain.

Lovely Hotel with Exceptional Service”
We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay at this hotel. Although it was winter and there wasnt alot of people staying over, the staff were stall very much on the ball and helpful. Everytime we walk by them we would receive a smile and even a greeting. The room we stayed at was very good, clean and ven had a bath tube and separate shower area complimented with an array of shower gels and bathing equipment. however its located a little out of the city central. But we certainly had a very good rest and would certainly come back again.

The rooms were a plus as we had small rooms over the time in Japan and Taipei. Older-looking rooms but extremely adequate. Rooms were cleaned everyday and it remained comfortable with a big bed and working kettle for tea. Breakfast was simple, mostly closer to Asian cuisine such as steamed buns, fried noodles and mushrooms, porridge. As I personally prefer to find local cuisine such as famous restaurants and food places, we didn't have a problem with the spread. Sufficient to load up before trekking Taroko Gorge. Bicycles were provided which we used to cycle out, and thanks to my bad planning we were stranded far away at night, however I called the hotel and they quickly arranged for a taxi to pick me and my girlfriend (and 2 bikes) as we did not have any contact for taxi companies. We paid directly to the taxi driver and were very thankful for the hotel's response. Location is a little far from the town, but if you cycle/like walking, there's a nice spacious seaside path in.

Ocean Hotel is not far from railway station. They have shuttle bus to sent you to railway station and night market (free for service). The hotel is near the see and you can ride the bicycle from the hotel too (they have bicycle for you). Lovely hotel and service with a smile.

Simple hotel with bay view”
the room is simple and clean, not big but comfortable with all the relevant furnishings, with the exception of cutlery. the view of the sea port though not spectacular, is better than one of a dusty city. it is located 15 mins from hualian city centre by foot or 10 mins drive courtesy of the hotel van. the staff are warm and friendly, very helpful in suggesting attractions for the lazy traveler who has not done much pre-trip homework.

Nice but small rooms”
Nice small hotel with pleasant service. The rooms are small and not suitable for parties of more than two but very modern. The balcony has reinforced doors that effectively cut off the noise from the road it faces and this is going to be essential. It is facing a new seaport which when fully developed can add a lot of noise, traffic and congestion and spoil the view of the ocean. Breakfast was generous and all the staff were helpful. A few restaurants within walking distance.

Quiet and clean hotel”
I stayed in this hotel for one night after visting Taroko Gorge. the service was prompt and excellent, they serve a welcome drink which was hot red dates tea, perfect for the chilly night in the sea breeze. The bathroom seemed made for couples, as there were see-through doors and windows into the room! We had to pull the curtain down. No bathtub though. Breakfast is a set menu, unlike the buffet style like in most hotels. Sumptuous though.

Lovely hotel with very nice rooms”
The room was clean and functional, with a nice patio. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was very nice. The view from the roof top terrace at sunrise, of the ocean and the mountains, is terrific. The location, across from the shipping terminal, is not prime and it is not remotely beach front. But for those of us who have never seen a sunrise over the Pacific. Pretty neat.

we booked our taroko gorge tour through the hotel and their manager was the one who took us on our tour. He told many interesting stories about the gorge, including his own personal life stories which made the trip very fun. He was very warm and friendly. He paid for many of our local delicacies (refused to take our money when we offered to pay) that we ate there such as sashimi and the yummy taiwan sausage. The entire trip felt more like an outing with a friend than a paid tour

Far but nice”
the hotel is a little far from the town center but made up for that by being near the ocean view. you can rent bicycle there and rides along the bicycle path which make for a great distraction from the city. food around the area is hard to find but you can ask the receptionists to book taxi for you.
