Nice hotel; not the best value ”
The hotel seems to be set up to cater to large events and lacks a certain amount of charm. Having said that, the amenities are good. The spa is separate from the hotel. My wife used the spa, but no spa packages were available to us when we booked. Breakfast was not included. We booked off season and I thought we could get more value for our dollar. Long Branch has a very pretty beach, and we certainly enjoyed our stay.
Prime location, and you pay for it.”
Perfectly located in Long Branch on the Jersey Shore, this resort hotel has it all. Great pool, tiki bar, and ocean views. Cross the path right onto the beach to enjoy the sand and surf. Restaurant in property is OK. 2 minute walk to the shops and more restaurants. Be prepared to pay for all the convenience as this is one pricey place.
Great location ”
Hotel is in a great location. There is so much new construction happening along the beach but none near Ocean Place so the views are not blocked by new buildings. Room was clean but bathroom towels feel like cardboard. The private beach is not really private. The public beach gets so crowded that people not staying at the resort use the ‘private’ beach and set up up big tents (like the ones banned in Belmar), and their own umbrellas at the beach. Hotel staff should be walking around beach checking wrist bands of those not using the resort’s chairs and umbrellas and ask them to leave. Parking on weekends is tough because the resort allows non hotel guests to use the parking lot for a fee. There should be a designated area for non hotel guests to park. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Return Visit to Ocean Place ”
This was my 2nd stay at Ocean Place. My wife & I really enjoyed our stay. The room was beautiful with an awesome view of the beach. The outdoor pool was nice and food/beverage service was good. The location was great because restaurants and shopping were within walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel because it's an excellent place for a weekend getaway or family vacation.
I felt like we were on an island in the Caribbean but we were in NJ. Loved the beach club amenities. Lounge chairs and umbrellas and waiteress/waiters to order drinks while on the beach. Parked the car and never had to use it during the stay. Walk to shops and food.
Great location and wonderful facilities ”
This is a wonderful place for an Ocean get away! Rooms are great, facilities are amazing ! There is lots to do and it’s all included in your resort fee!
Facility excellent, but housekeeping needs improvement”
Summary: Great location right on the beach, beautiful facilities, wife loved her two spa visits, but the people in charge of making our room could have done a LOT better. The "Help Wanted" signs suggest a temporary slump, so it might be better by the time you read this. Everyone was very courteous. We checked in, and our room had only one bath towel, and no ice bucket. The air in the room was very warm, because although the thermostat was set to 65, the fan was Off. They ran out ouf beach towels before noon. More would be coming in about 20 minutes, but when we got there 30 mins later, the new batch was all gone. One day, they forgot to make up our room. We pointed this out, and they promised they’d take care of it. We returned from dinner and found that nothing had been done. I went to the Front Desk, and in about 20 minutes, they sent us clean towels, coffee and cups for the morning, and so on. She also comped us $50. I understand that mistakes do happen. I hope they improve.
Very nice stay at the Ocean Place! We enjoyed all of the amenities and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the beach and surrounding area is. The staff was very friendly and we will come back for sure.
Great weekend getaway but unorganized for check in.”
I have been to this resort many time previously. It’s a beautiful place for a weekend getaway! Oceanfront, clean and cute shopping area within walking distance, but this trip wasdisappointing. I had requested early check-in for 1pm, and I realize that can’t always be accommodated. After standing in long lines to speak to someone to see if my room was ready we didn’t check in until after 6 pm! Regular check in is at 4 pm. I also witnessed people that had just arrived at 4 pm get a room instantly and I had been there hours and still had no room. It was very frustrating and the staff had no accountability for the inconvenience. Glad we hadn’t made dinner reservations because we wouldn’t have made them. Along with this the room keys kept failing. I had to go get a new one two times when I couldn’t get out of parking lot or get into my room. Again an inconvenience and staff said that it happened all the time when they get old. So why not get new ones? Beautiful place poor management, IMO.
Great (In some ways)”
A close-to-excellent facility and great location. The only real problem is that it's a real Jersey place, meaning lots of seasonal workers with no real experience or dedication. Combine this with weak supervision and you get long waits and harried staff, especially when busy, which means summer weekends and holidays. Just accept it-and the near 400/day price- and you'll have a great time.
Location is excellent”
Enjoyed my stay BUT....the hotel advertises the room as having two queen size beds. The beds are DEFINITELY NOT queen size they are doubles. The hotel has their own “private” section on the beach and hotel employees will set up chairs, small table and umbrellas for you however, they need more staff. My first day I grabbed the chairs and table myself because there was a line of guests waiting to have chairs etc set up. The beach is suppose to be private but many people not from the hotel easily sneak onto the beach. It’s obvious because they don’t have wrist bands and are using their own chairs and towels(hotel supplies beach towels too) One group even had their beach pass from the public section pinned to their cover-ups. No one walks around to be sure you are a hotel guest. Did see an employee at the beach entrance but he was busy on his cell phone. Hotel is convient but is not worth anywhere near their asking prices of $500 and more.
Place was beautiful. Staff, not so much.”
The resort was beautiful and clean. The staff, however, could use a little work. We decided the first night to have dinner in the restaurant/lounge. The food was delicious. The menu didn’t say that my meal came with any sides, so I ordered baby carrots for one of my sides. When our food came, there were carrots included with my dinner, then I also had the ones I ordered as a side. The waiter should’ve told me that carrots came with the dish. Then it came time to pay. The waiter told us that our credit card “didn’t go through”. We gave him a debit card and he came back with that one, too, saying that it “didn’t go through”. Somewhat embarrassed, we had it charged to our room. Our dinner came to be about $103 but when we checked on our account, they charged us $132. My husband went to the front desk to ask them about that, which they apologized for and corrected, and to tell them what happened with our cards the night before and was told “the system was down”. The waiter wasn’t informed.
On Friday July 12th my daughter's hand got stuck in the hot tub drain at Ocean Place Resort and Spa due to not having a drain cover which is in violation of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. An accident report was filed. On that day Dan Caparro stated he would credit us for our entire stay and give us an extra night at no cost, on the hotel due to the injury of my daughter and their non compliance (we did not plan on staying an extra night). We accepted this offer yet my credit card was still charged and no credit given for the previous stay. My initial contact to Dan was responsive. He said it must have been a mistake however I have never received a response back. I have followed up with him via phone 6 times and email 4 times. I have even left a message for the general manager with no response. At no point was the hot tub closed due to non compliance (staff said it would be). There was also no sense of urgency when my daughter's hand was stuck by staff, only guests.
My girlfriends and I really enjoyed the stay and the spa as well. We did have some issues. The bed was full of sand when we arrived. At check out we spoke to someone at the front desk. They gave us a 100.00 credit and we had breakfast. This accommodation was great. We will definitely be returning next summer. Thank you.
Facility is very nice. Pool was in a little disrepair. There was a bit of a housekeeping issue. By 6:00pm room was not cleaned. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. One word of warning - this a family place a there are a lot of kids by the pool. So if you’re looking for quiet, this place is not for you
Wedding weekend ”
The resort did a beautiful job hosting our nieces wedding. With many guests at the hotel and the wedding the staff managed everything perfectly Highly recommend
I was given a bill by check out receptionist for $21. for aprox resort service. I was also charged by booking service approx $30 for resort fee. I called hotel and was transferred to outside service. I could not get my question answered. I hope I was not double charged. The hotel was good - the way I booked on line does not allow a question to be answered
This is a beautiful place. They have a great location at the beach.. But they are not taking care of it. They do not enforce any of the rules and people being what they are abuse all of them. The facility is showing the wear and tear of people that come back from the beach and wash off their Santa toys in the hot tub. Babies with diapers go in the hot tub and the pool and The indoor pool. People that don’t have the wristbands come in and use the facilities and no one says anything. We ran out of towels Thursday when it was sunny and hot and so no one at the pool had towels including us. But a lot of People that didn’t go to the hotel and pay the prices had towels on the beach. They are all the same blue and white striped towels that’s how we know. Here’s the worst part: are you aware that they charge an additional resort fee at the end of our stay?
Getaway weekend ”
The resort is beautiful, wish there is a different area for kids to hangout than the lobby, wish the beach towels and chairs can stay w us til we decide to leave not 5 pm beach chairs and towels has to be returned......the lunch on terrace Buffett is not a good option when they make the hamburgers and hotdogs and they sit on a buffet lineup...these u eat right away...and that’s the only option for lunch...that needs to improve
Hotel has excellent location and facilities. Staffing could be improved: housekeeping was erratic and it took too long to get lounges and umbrellas on the beach.
