It’s a Privilege to Stay Here!”
This is one of my all-time favorites. One other in Hua Hin was also a guesthouse built on top of a fishing pier. There is nothing quite like these places, and if you’ve never stayed in one, you should. While the Bang Bao is a very busy, crowded and noisy place to be (especially for otherwise quiet and sleepy Koh Chang), there is a sublime beauty, and in the evening, when the crowds disappear, you will have a chance to experience it for yourself. Ocean Blue is located near the very end of Bang Bao Pier, close to the boats, so you have incredible views. The young Thai couple that own and manage this hotel are super friendly and sweet. It is obvious they are busy renovating, slowly making improvements to an otherwise very old and creaky structure. All of this adds to the charm, and I would certainly stay here again. My only complaint, other than the less than perfect noise nearby, is that they did not provide any water or body lotion. At $25-30 per night, that would seem essential. I did have air conditioning, however, and a VERY FIRM mattress, which I like. There is a manual flush toilet, but the hot water is actually hot - for great showering. Thank you, so much, Ocean Blue!

Enjoyable experience ”
bang bao village is mainly built on a long concrete pier. it was a fishing village in the past. along its length are shops restaurants and guest houses. it is more than just a tourist site in that there are many people who live there with their families. lots of children about. commercial fishboats share the pier with a number of dive and tour vessels. the guesthouse is far down the pier off a small boardwalk to the right. it is run by a very nice young couple who have several small children. the building appears to be in very good condition and is very clean with gleaming teak floors. there is a very pleasant deck that looks out to the bay and islands. the room was comfortable, with good wifi. the shower is cold water which was fine with me because the climate is quite hot. there is no restaurant in the guesthouse, but one only needs to walk a few metres down the pier for a variety of places including a coffee shop and several quality seafood restaurants. i was only able to stay one night because the guesthouse was booked up. i would like to have stayed longer and would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a different experience.

Cozy and Unique”
This is a great spot, especially if you're planning to do some diving, snorkeling, or fishing. The guesthouse is in a quiet spot, you can sit out on the deck and watch the big tour boats come back in the evening, or you can wander the Bang Bao pier to find good food and fun souvenirs. The owners are really friendly and accommodating, and the wifi speed was great. No hot water, and no AC, but those two sort of cancel each other out.

A peaceul place on Koh Chang”
We spent a peaceful three days at the Oceanblue. The guesthouse is only couple of minutes' walk from the ferries so sea trips were easy. The room was simple, clean and pretty.

great value for the money.”
This was my 2nd visit and I'll be back. Even though there are not a lot of amenities, the hotel is clean comfortable and easy walk to both the pier and restaurants. If planning to dive in koh chang, this is the place to stay.

relaxing on pier guest house”
We had a very relaxing, (totally different than usual guest house)stay at Ocean Blue. They also had drinks you could buy and good WiFi, 7eleven at beginning of pier and other mini mart nearer as well as some good eating places. Ideal for a night or 2 before going to islands, very chilled no bars or boom boom nearby.

Veery welcoming, friendly and simple accomodations”
The hosts are super welcoming and warm. The room was super clean, neatly prepared yet simple. Overall this is a very well priced place to spend your nights at. If you are into diving you will find yourself right at the dock where all the boats take off. Food and everything else you may need is only a few steps away. Enjoy your stay!

Basic hotel on a pier”
Hotel is fine but Bang Bao has gone downhill over the years. From a small fishing village area catering to divers with a few interesting small hotels and restaurants - to a more commercially oriented "tourist attraction" with larger scale locally owned seafood restaurants, over-priced and catering to group tours (mostly Russian) and shops selling tourist trinkets. Not many smiles from the locals in this area.

Off the beaten path, great value!! Will be back!”
Very chill inexpensive location st the south end of the island. The family that runs this hotel is very friendly and will help you in any way they can. It is close to a couple of pubic beaches that are not far from the hotel. EXCELLENT seafood (it's right off the boat) food, a 7/11, and every boat leaving for snorkeling/diving leaves from right outside your doorstep. The beds aren't great and the bathrooms are kind of rustic but staying out on the pier is an experience to be had by any traveler that wants to see local culture as well enjoy luxur during their vacation ie: the biggest shrimp youve ever had. Happy travels!

cheap, over the water, friendly staff”
This was a very convenient place to stay for diving. The room is over the water. It's basic, but clean. The staff are friendly. The view from the back porch is worth every penny. The wifi wasn't fast, but it worked. Overall, I would recommend the place to friends and would stay there again.

Charming”
It was quite nice falling asleep to the sound of the waves rippling outside the window. My visit was during low season, so there were no crowds of people on the dock in the morning, it was peaceful and serene. The room is basic, but just fine. Overall a nice experience.

Amazing spot on the pier”
I had a bit of trouble finding this place in the middle of the night, but it was worth it. A cozy little guesthouse on the Bangboa pier. The porch area is a great place to lounge, watch the water and boats. Plenty of touristy activities to sign up for. The pier itself has a few places to eat and shop. A 20 minute walk, and you can enjoy the beach up the street. There's a couple of entertaining "Rasta" bars! It's not super touristy like the other spots on the Western side of the island. If you're looking for a party location, this is NOT it. If you're looking for a bit of a reprieve from partying and non-stop tourists, this is a great spot to slow down and relax.

Great place”
The place was great but the pictures are kinda old so the guesthouse is not in that condition anymore. For example there is no bungalows above water anymore, paint was peeling of from the outside walls and the pier was kinda decayed. Also the building next to the guesthouse was torned apart and there was only ruins left. But after all the place was really nice and chill. Room was kinda basic but it had really beautiful view to the sea! I loved that the whole place was above water but the con was that there was no beach nearby.

Stay was ok, but I wouldnt come back”
Rooms are small but ok, bathroom a bit...well, not up to the standarts if I may say so. The place is right at the pier, very close to the boats that are leaving early in the morning and returning in the afternoon. All the tourists that booked sightseeing or diving trips south of the island are passing quiet close, so its always quite loud and you can forget to sleep in. Also, at the time I was staying there, the family had three little kids and it seemed they were taking turns in screaming, crying or running up and down the wooden floor in front of the rooms. I wouldnt come back because of the noise and because I think the price is too high for the rooms they offer.

Amazing laid-back quiet living”
Unexpected pleasant simple guesthouse with all basic amenities available. Dont expect resort hotel standards or service. Basic back to nature 'kelong' wooden stilt over water accommodation. No heater or ac is ok as the weather is warm at days and cool at nights.

Interesting place and nice staff”
It was very nice to stay there for a night: in daytime this "village" (in fact the pier with lots of shops and tourists getting to and from the boats) a very crowded place, in nighttime allmost nobody there. Good restaurants, especially for eating seafood! The rooms are very noisy, because of very thin walls. You can hear neighbours snoring, or even open and close zippers. So take your earplugs with you! Staff is very nice nd helpful.
