It's an escape to dreamland. The surrounding of the hotel is so beautiful. The hotel itself is clean, comfy and the staff are very polite. But it's the view of the lake and it's surrounding greenery that is awesome.
Overall a great great stay! Breakfast was a normal fixed meal but we enjoyed it! We like the Onsen and the Massage Chair facilities! We rent a car to the hotel so transport is not a problem, there is also shuttle bus. We will definitely be back again.
Lovely location on Hakone Lake”
Great place to stay with a lovely view of Mount Fuji from the garden - wake up early to get a good view. Breakfast is continental style (quite adequate) with a pre-set menu. Very nice Onsen to rest and relax in. Only disadvantage is meals at the hotel are expensive (expect to pay 5000+ yen per person / meal) and alternatives are to go into the nearest town (Motohakone) where all restaurants close very early (between 5 to 6pm). After that you only have the 7-Eleven store that sells Noodle and small bites...
Awesome View of Lake Ashi”
I love Odakyu Hotel De Yama because :- (1) I was assigned Room 307 that provides an awesome view of Lake Ashi. Every morning, when we woke up, we were greeted by the lovely scenery as well as the birds chirping in the background. The garden is nice to stroll along (2) We stayed in a room for 3 persons. So the room is spacious. (3) I love the Drip coffee and the flower flavoured teabags provided by the hotel. (4) There is a COMPLIMENTARY indoor and outdoor Onsen on level 3 for the ladies. The bathroom facilities come with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, facial cleanser and makeup removal. There is a massage chair for us to use as well. Lockers are available for us to put our Yukata and room key. Perfect for a relaxing stay. Onsen operation hours are from 3pm to 12 midnight (5) There are some interesting shopping outlets situated only a stone throw’s away. Lawson and 7-11 (both operated 24 hours) are available nearby. (6) It is important to rent a car
Beautiful room & view ”
Booked this nice room for our anniversary ; room was perfect in all aspects and very spacious, with nice SPA bath waiting for us ! Very attentive and helpful staff. Only low of this stay was the immediate area is completely dead ! No restaurants or cafe around .. we were very surprised by that ; we did have a car so we drive around to that Yunassen hot water multicolored flavored pools about 20min drive and had great time with kids. The view of the lake from our top f’oor Room was very nice we were a few weeks too early to enjoy the not yet multi color gardens of the hotel .
RE: Good View but hot spring is not that grear”
I booked this hotel mainly for hot spring but it has no outdoor one and restricted for people with tattoo. Nowadays, in USA, tattoo is very popular with youth. It has nothing to do with yakuza or any personal improper behavior. It is more like woman’s cosmetics or earring, eyebrows, etc. My son is a scientist in bio tech, and working for world renowned bio pharmaceutical company. He has tattoo because he also like Brazilian Judo in which tattoos is quite common. Besides, the internet is too slow to be useful.
Perfect location but I expected a little more for the price. We paid”
The location and shuttle bus was perfect place from which to launch our trip to Hakone. The restaurant in the hotel that we ate in was the French one and we had an excellent meal. Excellent. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed lunch on the veranda there on our arrival. However, the bar closed at 9pm which seemed far too early for us and it didn’t allow a digestif or two to be taken after such a wonderful meal. The WiFi was sporadic which for an upscale modern hotel is not acceptable. The staff were very attentive and helpful.
Glorious view of Mt Fuji from our room”
I was disappointed that our room didnt hv a private onsen. I was probably confused with rush plans as d hotels with nice views of Mt Fuji were in high demand & getting sold out fast. It has a public onsen though. Anyway the Magnificent view of Mt Fuji made up for it. The hydrangeas are set to bloom in 2-3 wks, but still lovely to walk the garden. Location of hotel is very central, nr the Pirate Ship Cruise Pier & other attractions. Frm Narita, we bought Airport LimoBus promo tickets for 4 pax at discounted total price of Jpy8,000. Traveled same day to Shinjuku station, and bought the Hakone 3 day FreePass at Odakyu Sightseeing Center there, there's added surcharge for Romance Train to Hakone Yumoto station, then took bus to MotoHakoneko. A that point hotel shuttle will pick you up. Be prepared for a long journey frm Shinjuku to Odakyu Hotel de yama. Breakfast & dinner as all restos close by 5pm.
Spacious rooms however outdated hotel with limited shuttle hours to Hakone, unless you have a car”
The rooms were large, however the lobby has old & worn out furniture and average decor. Onsen was nothing special. We had poor shower with limited water flow in our rooms and ended up using the onsen for our showers. Shuttle to Motohakone was only operating from 9am to 5:10pm so if you need to leave early or come in late and not having a car, you are in for a 15-min walk to Motohakone. This limited us to buying breakfasts and dinners from hotel or packing our own. The price is high especially with included meals. The positives are hotel staff is very helpful, particularly the shuttle bus drivers. Spectacular Oshi lake view from the rooms and view of sunset from the observatory. All things considered, we decided this hotel is rated on the side of not-recommended-if-asked-by-a-friend.
Best stay in Hakone!”
Odakyu Hotel de Yama Hakone Lake Side is the best place where to stay in Hakone! Great Hotel with excellent onsens (hor springs), beautiful territory, unreal Fuji & lake view ! Super location, very nice staff.
Wonderful location with lake views in every room”
This was a fantastic place to stay. It had all of amenities— easy access to the train via hotel shuttle or walking, two restaurants, beautiful lake views and gardens, near the shrine, etc. I can’t wakt to come back again!!
The scenery is beautiful, you can see top of mount fuji from the hitel’s gardeb”
Can walk aroun lake Ashi
Excellent Service ”
Exceptional service from all staff
Beautiful location, lovely simple Japanese food, French restaurant was nice, but not great, beautiful gardens and lake views, nice walking locally. Room was ideal and the hot spring bath with a view was so relaxing. A little isolated for a long stay, taxi or bus necessary for most journeys. For us it was a perfect, restful three day break.
Great Relaxing Getaway at Hakone”
Hotel scenery is beautiful - offering a serene view of the Lake Ashl & snow- capped Mount Fuji from afar. Hotel's garden is nicely maintained and we totally enjoyed the garden stroll in the morning breeze with the lake as a backdrop. We came from Osaka so we had to alight at JR Odawara station to change into Tozan bus service ride which took abt 1hr to reach Motohakone Ko shuttle pickup point. The free shuttle for hotel guest is prompt and efficient. Hotel staff are very friendly and given us good advice with regards to logistics and transport options back to Shinjuku very well. Food choices within the hotel are limited and slightly more expensive. we only tried the Japanese Restuarant for dinner and was pleased with the ala carte order for Tempura and fried fish. Dinner sets can be on the high side if budget is of concern. Room is well equipped and my hubby is happy with the in room humidifier which offers relief and comfort to our sensitive skin esp during this cold dry winter that the skin seems to be more irritable. Onsen was enjoyable with one indoor pool and one outdoor pool with a forest view. I enjoyed the all-female onsen and went for the hot dip everyday of our 3D2N stay. Overall, we are pleased with our stay and will recommend this hotel to all looking out for a relaxing stay with a view.
a tranquil and high end hotel ”
Located at a very beautiful and tranqui l environment. room overlooking both the Asinoko Lake and Mt Fuji. Very nice, helpful and courteous staff. hotel providing sumptuous Japanese style dinner and breakfast.
Beautiful Views of Fuji, assuming the weather is perfect.”
This venerable hotel keeps its rooms well maintained, and we appreciated the complimentary Fruit Crisp Choco pieces, refreshed daily. Staff were very polite and helpful, and clearly explained Japanese bathing etiquette to us. I imagine the scenery would be spectacular, on a good, clear day. Unfortunately during our stay, the weather did not cooperate and we didn't see Mt Fuji until the morning we checked out, and what we saw was only fleeting glimpses of the tip of the mountain. A real pity! If it were possible for the hotel shuttle bus service to run until 8pm, that would have been very helpful, as the location of the hotel is a little remote.
Elegant hotel, with great view and a great garden”
The hotel is very elegant and clean. It has a great view of lake ashi. The surrounding becomes very quiet in the evening. There is no restaurant or convenience store nearby. The hotel's restaurants were expensive and by reservation only. The room had no complementary water bottle. The public bath in the hotel was clean, but nothing out of ordinary.
Great Onsen - just imagine spring”
Their English service is limited but they make it up in helpfulness, come armed with some Japanese or a translator app. It’s not hard. If you’re not keen on the fine dining the Rosage lake side coffee is amazing dining. It was just hard to walk to bars at night, but the onsen made up for it. Recommend hiring a car in this area.
