Convenient location, friendly staff, and clean rooms.”
It was my first time traveling alone, and I was very happy to meet friendly staff. Their warm smiles made me feel welcome. The hostel is located just across from the Y13 exit of Taipei Station, which is very convenient.
A perfect stay in Taipei”
I stayed in Old Door Hostel for 3D2N. I would like to commend the staff when I first arrived and accommodated me during my early check-in. I left my stuff to roam around the area to familiarize myself too and went back to the hostel to eat. The hostel is conveniently located near Taipei Main Station. If I remember it correctly, it's exit Y13 so you can enter the mall and go straight to the MRT line. The "capsule" room I booked is for women only. I was shocked that it's very spacious that I can somehow stand a bit. It's a plus for me. The washroom and shower area are also kept clean. Signs for proper trash disposal are also helpful. The common area on the 1st floor and 4th floor are also good! Since it's also a cafe/bar, locals would dine in for coffee or some drinks. I got to order their tea and coffee which are both good. The breakfast is also served when you requested it. I ordered the corn omelette and it was very delicious for me. Simple yet filling with the toast. WIFI is also free for us to use. I would definitely stay again if I come back to Taipei.
Great hostel as as first-time solo traveller”
It was my first time traveling alone, and I chose to book a hostel to save costs. Choosing this was probably the best outcome for me. The location is 10-15 mins away from the Taipei Main Station (granted, on the third day of walking back and forth, my feet were starting to kill me haha) and 5 mins away from the Airport MRT Station. It's fairly convenient already if you don't mind the walking you're gonna have to do. The hostel's location is also very pleasant. I love that a YouBike station (Taiwan's self-bike rental) is so close, and I was able to enjoy cycling around the streets of Taipei on the first day. The hostel itself is small, but full of personality. The staff are very lovely people, and I appreciated them asking you how your trip is from time to time. I'm pretty introverted, so I didn't do a lot of mingling but there's a nice common area upstairs if you want to chat with other travelers as well as the staff, too. The hostel room I stayed at with 12 others was spacious in comparison to other hostels I scouted in the area; large head space. There isn't anywhere to put your luggage but outside, though, but that's fine. The bathroom was also kept clean and tidy. There were about 3 toilet stalls, and 2 shower rooms on the female dormitory floor. I didn't really experience that much of a waiting time in terms of bathroom usage, but I think it's because I always got back to the hostel late at night haha. Also, Breakfast was included in my stay! They make it for you fresh every morning. Their taiwanese omelette was very delicious :) Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at Old Door Hostel. They were very accommodating to me, and I could see their passion for keeping this thing together. I hope I get to come back to Taipei in the future ~
The best selection for solo traveler”
If you travel alone in Taipei, I recommend this hostel. The staff will host you with great hospitality! The bed sheets are clean, and the toilet and shower rooms are also well-maintained!
Best hostel experience”
A great location, right next to the metro station. Lots of options for food, markets very close by. All the staff are extremely friendly and pleasant. I was welcomed with a tea, and with general tips about sightseeing, tourist traps and getting around etc. at check-in. The hostel itself is quiet, not overcrowded at kept very clean. They had also a very convenient toilet bowl bidet buttons like in Japan except for the used tissues must be thrown in a trash bin. Bed was comfortable and there’s a mini safe lock box. Breakfast is served every morning for free which included local Taiwanese breakfast~ a bread and an omelette. if I’d visit the country again, I’d definitely stay here.
