"This hotel is right on the waterfront at Vieux Port, and two very easy Metro stops on Metro Line M1 from Marseille St Charles - Central Railway Station. The entrance is tucked between two restaurants and Reception is on the first floor up a broad set of stairs. Staff were helpful and friendly - and most seemed to be at least bilingual (French and English) at least. I paid EUR 20 extra to ensure a room with a view and was allocated Room 404 on the fourth floor (there is a tiny elevator so fourth floor is easy access after the first flight of stairs) which was small, but well-equipped and with windows looking straight into the harbour and the splendid sunset. Breakfast was quite satisfactory - and there are scores of restaurants nearby if still hungry. Excellent location and value for money."

"Stayed here for one night before our flight home from Marseilles and it was very good. The room could do with a bit of updating but was clean and comfortable and we had a small terrace which was lovely. We had breakfast and it was good value (by Provence prices!) and the staff were very nice and very helpful. If you are out during the evening I would stick to the area between the front of the hotel and the port. The area a few streets to the rear of the hotel comes alive at night and not in a good way!"

"This hotel is situated right in the center of Marseille, next to the old port so its location is excellent. There were road works in the surrounding streets so we heard loud noises since 8am, hope this will be solved after the roadwork is completed. Facility wise, expect facilities from an ordinary 3-4 star hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy, acceptable facilities."

The city is well-connected by public transportation, making it easy to navigate. The nearest airport is Aéroport Marseille Provence, located about 30 minutes from the city center. Various transportation options, including buses, taxis, and shuttles, are available to take you to your accommodation.

When exploring the Old Port, it’s helpful to have a map or a navigation app on hand to guide you through the area. The streets can be narrow and winding, so having a reliable reference can enhance your experience. Additionally, many attractions are within walking distance, allowing you to enjoy the scenic views as you stroll from one site to another.

Lastly, familiarize yourself with local customs and etiquette. The French are known for their politeness, so a simple “bonjour” (hello) or “merci” (thank you) can go a long way in establishing rapport with locals. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory; rounding up the bill or leaving small change is customary in restaurants. By being mindful of these cultural nuances, you’ll enhance your travel experience and connect more deeply with the people and culture of Marseille.
