Fantastic Experience”

Location, Decor, Service

On8 is a wonderfully sleek and modern boutique hotel. The staff is professional, courteous and helpful. The bell hop in particular was very thorough in explaining how the security card and ammenities in my room worked. Since my Thai vocabulary is limited, he also helped me while I was on the phone, ordering a private car. I stayed in an Amber Room, which is On8's standard, most economical option. The room was quite large by Bangkok standards. Both the sleeping area and bathroom were beautifuly designed with a modern elegance. I had read online that the rooms didn't have windows, which sounded like a negative. In actuality, a windowless room turned out to be fantastic since you don't have to worry about being woken up by sunlight or outside noise. My only complaint is there was no water hose next to the toilet. In case you're not aware, in some countries, they have a "bum gun" next to the toilet so that you can wash your butt afterward. In terms of location, the hotel is conveniently located near Sukhumvit, a major Bangkok road. Also, the Nana train stop is right outside the hotel's restaurant entrance. The train can take you to many shopping malls and other tourist sites. Do note that the hotel's main entrance is not on Sukhumvit Road nor directly on Soi 8. When turning onto Soi 8 from Sukhumvit, you'll turn immediately right into a small, dead end. The hotel is located there. Overall, I loved my stay at On8. Unless their prices become unreasonable, I would stay there on every visit to Bangkok.

Great location, very clean room, staff, secure.”

Location, cleanliness, staff.

Excellent stay. Great location right at the Nana BTS station, sharing an entrance with the famous Raja's Fashion (but not to be confused with another similarly-named tailor on the same road). Sukhumvit Road has plenty of malls, shops and eating places, and there's a lively street market at night. The room and bathroom was very clean, neat, smoke-free and well maintained (everything I used worked). The staff were friendly, well trained and professional. I really liked that the hotel was "family friendly" and I didn't see and wasn't bothered by people offering "companionship" at the hotel's entrance, as I've read happens at some other hotels in the area. A minor quibble was that when I entered my room on the first day the air conditioner took quite a while to cool the room, but I didn't call maintenance as it was running and I was on my way out anyway. The room was cool when I returned a few hours later, and no problems over the next 2 days. Another is that the lobby entrance was a bit difficult to find the first time, when I was in a taxi. Perhaps the hotel could have more prominent signage at the entrance to the alley, post photos on their website with a street-level view of the turning into Soi 8, the turning into the entrance's alley, and names of the landmark establishments there (e.g. the tailor's shop at the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 8, and Viva Monsoon tapas bar). I would stay here again and recommend it to friends visiting Bangkok.

Great little hotel in Central Bangkok”

Comfort, location, staff and price

Stayed for 5 days in late July, 2012. It’s as nice as it looks on-line and a bargain for the price range and location in Bangkok. Nearly everything about this small (40 rooms?) hotel shines, from the staff to the clean rooms to the comfortable beds to the great Western oriented breakfast. Free Wifi was excellent. No pool or gym. Located right beside the Nana BTS station, nearly every area of Bangkok a tourist would want to visit is easily accessible from here via skytrain, subway and river express boat. Have stayed in quite a few small hotels and areas around Bangkok and this is a winner. It is on Sukhumvit so outside is frenetic, though you hardly notice this inside the hotel. Neighborhood was typical for this area of Sukhumvit. Mixture of restaurants, hotels, convenience stores, malls and apartment buildings. Well lit area at night. Want some greenery? Checkout Chuvit Park, a short walk down Sukhumvit at Soi 10. A big plus if staying awhile in this area. Nice place and would stay here again when in this part of Bangkok.

Lovely stay at On8 Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel”

Location and Friendly staff

I stayed at On8 Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel for 5D4N. Locating the hotel was a no-brainer. The BTS Nana Station was just outside their cafe (On8 Cafe). Checking-in was likewise a breeze and I was greeted by the hotel staff with a smile, truly exemplifying Thai hospitality known the world over. The breakfast included in my booking was enough to get me through the day and the cafe staff was also very accommodating. WiFi connection was also excellent and fast. But the strongest selling point of the hotel must have to be their location. Its location is very convenient if you want to shop anywhere in Bangkok. If I were to point out a flaw/room for improvement, it would have to the rooms having no window. But over-all my stay at at On8 Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel was indeed pleasurable and worth every penny. Looking forward to my next stay in this hotel for my next visit to Bangkok!

Great location, nice hotel”

Location - right on Nana BTS. Clean, new.
Inside rooms - no windows at all.

I travel to Bangkok on holidays very frequently and this was my first stay at On 8. This hotel has two entrances: the main entrance is off Sukhumvit Soi 8, and the other, is through the cafe/restaurant. The latter entrance takes you directly to the stairs up to Nana BTS. The hotel is new, and clean. And location is great. There is a wide screen television and enough channels to keep my partner and I happy. (I have been in hotels where only local channels, two movie channels and CNN were available!) The staff were extremely helpful, and most spoke English rather well by Thai standards. There are a number of watering holes just outside the hotel, and a number of legitimate foot massage places to take care of your sore feet after a day out. They also provided two small bottles of water every day. Oh - there is a kettle and complimentary coffee and tea, although I only made use of the kettle! Breakfast down at the cafe was the usual fare of breads, cereals and a cooked breakfast which you got to select what items you wanted. More than adequate! We had lunch there once, and that was nothing spectacular. Overall, would I recommend it - yeah, I think I will.

Excellent Location, Excellent Hotel”

Excellent service. Clean, modern rooms. The hotel is conveniently located right beside the Nana skytrain station and right next to Sukhumvit. At night, the sidewalks of Sukhumvit turns into a long, congested street market.
The location of the hotel may have been a little TOO convenient, as there were frequent traffic jams on Sukhumvit. Sometimes it took us 20 minutes to advance half a block towards our hotel.

On8 was the first hotel we stayed at while in Thailand, and it was arguably the best one in terms of price, service, quality and location. The hotel is conveniently located right beside the Nana skytrain station and right next to Sukhumvit. In fact, it may have been a little TOO convenient, as there were frequent traffic jams on Sukhumvit. Sometimes it took us 20 minutes to advance half a block towards our hotel. Luckily, taxis are dirt cheap in Thailand so it might mean an extra dollar or two on your part for the wait. At night, the sidewalks of Sukhumvit turns into a long, congested street market with merchants hawking all sorts of goods and souvenirs. The rooms were of excellent quality. Clean, well-designed, and very comfy. The washroom was elegant and very modern-looking. We liked their rooms a lot! The only unusual part of our room was there were no see-through windows; rather, it was just a huge floor-to-ceiling piece of "snowy" glass. Light would come through, but we can't see outside. Probably for the better since all we would see is the Nana skytrain station. The Internet is also FREE, which was a huge plus for us. Good connection speed too! Service was excellent. The staff were very attentive to our needs and had no problems hailing us a taxi and ensuring the driver enabled the meter. We were also served the customary cold towel and drink upon arrival. The breakfast was included in our rate and we enjoyed it very much. Simple, western-style breakfast with plenty of fruits, breads and juices. We liked it a lot! All in all, an excellent hotel in an excellent location that you won't be disappointed with.

Great location, great service, great room.”

Superb location, reasonable price, great rooms, good food.

Checking in was a breeze, though locating the hotel proved to be a challenge for the kind taxi driver we met from the airport. The front of the hotel is located at the end of an alley in Sukhumvit Soi 8. An easier way to get to the hotel by car/tuktuk is to stop by the Nana BTS along the main road. Service was great, though rooms were strictly non-smoking. Room was reasonably sized and really new. Great price and quality as compared to the other bigger hotels in the area. The only drawback of the room is that there were no windows in it. That means you will not know if it's daylight yet unless you look at your clock. Soundproofing could be improved, because we could hear everything coming from the rooms beside and above ours. Shower and air-conditioning were great, with drinking water provided. I guess that's all travelers need in Bangkok. Location was awesome. Walk out from the main entrance of the hotel(in the alley in Soi 8) and you will see Foot Joy, and their staffs dressed in pink. Great price, no sleaze, and awesome Thai massage. Further in is a 7-11 with enough necessities for every badly equipped traveler. Food stalls there during the day are greaaaaaat. Not to be missed. Staff spoke enough English to guide you in the areas you require. Recommended.

Perfect location for Nana BTS”

Skytrain access, Nana Plaza, Food options

On 8 is one of the best locations for a hotel in the Nana area that is close to the BTS. It is located directly down the steps of the Nana Skytrain BTS so you are only 1 minute from train to your room. An excellent stay if you want to change clothes or drop things off at your room before a night out. It's just minutes away from Nana Plaza and with the skytrain at your front door you truly have all of Bangkok at your fingertips. The room service is delicious and fast too. There are 2 entrances, one on Sukumvit (which closes in the evening) and the regular entrance on Soi 8 at the very first alley on the right. If you go onto Soi 8 there is a large pub with a tasty lamb burger too if that is your thing. The negatives are the rooms are tiny (but clean) and have no view. The bathrooms do not have toilet water sprayers as almost every other hotel in Bangkok has. The internet is an ok speed but the desk is uncomfortable. If this is a working holiday for you then you likely won't be comfortable at all in the standard rooms. I'm not sure about the higher priced rooms but the desk in the standard rooms is directly in front of the tv and quite small. Overall if you want the perfect location for the Nana BTS and Nana Plaza, and don't mind small rooms with no view this is an idea hotel. Especially if you get it at a good rate of around $50.

Trendy hotel to experience Bangkok from”

Location, clean rooms, trendy, close to sky train, free breakfast

we loved our stay at on8 sukhumvit. the escalators for the sky train nana station are just outside the front door and made it an awesome place to experience bangkok from. the room was small, but lovely. we had a king size bed, a small sitting desk, big cupboard and a great bathroom. we only slept in the room so it wasn't a big deal. the hotels has a restaurant where we ate breakfast each day. the breakfast is simple and doesn't change - for hot food you can get bacon, sausages, eggs made to your order, potatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes. there is a toaster where you can made toast. they also have some pastries, fresh fruit, fruit juice and cereal. it was good, but after a week, i was getting a little sick of it. we also ate two dinners at the restaurant. i had a green curry which was lovely and tried to get a grilled cheese sandwich which was not on the menu. due to communication problems i ended up with cheese, tomato and lettuce and the bread was toasted. all in all i really enjoyed stay here. there are a lot of restaurants nearby and some good massage places. the price and proximity to the skytrain make it a winner, especially since the rooms are so lovely.

Nice boutique style hotel”

Good location and very clean rooms

Nice clean rooms and a great location. Walk out the door of the attached cafe and you are at the Nana BTS station minutes away from anywhere in BKK. The rooms were nice, clean, and spacious (I opted for the higher end room). It can be a little hard for taxi drivers to find if they are not familiar with the area and it can easily be overlooked by novice travelers as it is located on a subsoi of soi 8, the first subsoi off of Sukhumvit, if you are at the 7/11 you went to far. Have stayed here 3 times so far and think it is a great bang for the buck. Soi 8 is an adventure of its own as is the surround neighborhood on Th Sukhumvit. It is kind of hard to get used to not having windows you can see through in the rooms though, even though I understand why they frost the glass in these rooms.

Convieniently located boutique hotel on Sukhumvit ”

Nearly new, only 2 years old, very clean and tidy, good sized rooms.

I stayed in a Premier room for two nights. Unfortunately my room (407) was located at the Sukhumvit Rd end of the hotel. Which meant there was a fair bit of traffic noise. The rooms have no windows as such, just opaque glass panels that allow in the light but you cannot see out. This did not bother me but it did mean going downstairs to find out if it was raining or not (although at the time of the year I was there rain is at least a daily occurence. The room was well laid, very clean with a small bar fridge/minibar, electronic safe and free wifi internet that ran at a good speed. The staff were all friendly and reception helped by calling my limo company to ensure they knew where the hotel was. The taxi driver that took me there from another hotel in Bangkok did not know where it was apart from that it is supposed to be on Sukhumvit Soi8, which it actually isn't. Access to the BTS could not be easier as the escalator up to the station is right outside the On8 cafe door. The BTS is the only way to get around the popular parts of Bangkok, buy a 1 day pass for 120 Baht and you can make as many journeys as you like, it is great value. I would heartily recommend On8 Sukhumvit for budget minded travellers, who also want a good Hotel experience.

As promised, On|8 Hotel, BKK, Thailand”

Our stay at On|8 (Soi 8 & Sukhumvit)was as promised -- very nice!
Confusion on credit charges.

Our stay at On|8 (Soi 8 & Sukhumvit) was as promised -- very nice! The hotel is small, the staff hospitable and detail-oriented. Our smallish room was clean, bright, modern and reasonable (at discount rates). After 2 nights stay, we submitted a list of little things with suggestions for fixes such as closet light that didn’t turn off, towels that were washed when we indicated that was not needed (environmental issue), air conditioner noise. The staff appeared receptive. We don’t know if there’s anything can be done about On|8 restaurant guests who loudly use their skype phones at breakfast! One minor thing, we were surprised to find that a charge was placed on our credit card a few days after our return home, having been assured that we owed nothing at check out. When we checked with the hotel manager about the charge via several email messages, we were told that’s customary but charged in error, and would clear in TWO weeks, and it did. But we disagreed with the fees being “customary,’ having stayed at hundreds of such establishment before. D&T

On8 great location”

I stayed in On8 this March, the location is great, the rooms are clean and well looked after, breakfast was very basic but was enough for me, I was in a front room on the 2nd floor, I never once heard the BTS every now and again the street noise was a little loud, the room had a large window, however it doesn't open and it is covered by an opaque covering though it lets the light in you can't see out, the whole hotel always looked clean and tidy and the staff were always helpful and polite, I arrived very early the first day and had to wait a few hours to get my room, as soon as the room was ready they checked me in, the location is perfect right next to the Nana BTS, during normal business hours there is an entrance off Sukhumvit Rd after hours you can enter by the first little soi off soi 8 on the right, it's close to restaurants and bars and there is a 7/11 across the road and a small conscience store next door.

Worth the effort to find.”

I had a business appointment on Soi 8 and needed to say overnight in Bangkok. I picked On8 based on it's location, and was pleasantly surprised by how excellent it is in general. I was in a low number room, so it was away from Sukhumvit and it was perfectly quiet. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are helpful and friendly. All in all, if you do not have a vehicle, this is an excellent place to stay. Entry from Sukhumvit is through a tailor shop, and the restuarant, and direct lobby access is through the alleyway in the back. The alleyway has limited vehicle access and no parking.

Deserves the "Travellers Choice Award for 2112”

friendly & polite staff, location, location, location

my recent 5 night stay in march 2012 confirms what i had to say in my review submitted septmeber 15, 2011 under the title "highly recommended, one of the best" and is a worthy recipient of the tripadvisor's travellers choice for 2012 award, congratulations and well done. i think that says it all. the following is an extract from my previous review: having stayed at a number of hotels in bangkok and other far east countries i can certainly recommend this hotel. the booking experience via the internet was quick and simple.the opportunity to give special instructions, eg late arrival, etc. was much appreciated. the friendly welcome by the staff after 16 hours of flying set the mood for the next 5 days in bangkok. breakfast was excellent and always served with a smile by the cafe staff. the rooms were well appointed and comfortable and despite not having a clear window this did not detract from the room. the house keeping was of a high standed. the proximity to the skytrain is huge added bonus, could not ask for a more convient location. getting to the hotel from the airport is an absolute pleasure using the express train and skytrain and also the return trip to the airport. no more sitting in the bangkok traffic. the facility to book day trips from the hotel was limited and could do with some improvement. i will certainly stay at no8 on my next visit to bangkok. well done to management and staff at on8.

Fantastic hotel! always reliable &friendly service”

Clean and well located, personalised service, spacious room

On8 is where I stay whenever I am back in Bangkok With all things considered, I think this is the best all round place to stay in Sukhumvit. It is literally 5 metres to the foot of the stairs up to the Nana BTS skytrain station - cant get closer than that. Also across the road from Sukh Soi 11 which has many nice restaurants and bars/nightclubs Soi 8 itself is a more pleasant one to walk down, no harrassment, cleaner than others. Hotel itself has everything you need and nothing you dont!

Great stay in the heart of Bangkok”

Location, comfortable room, adequate breakfast

I only stayed at On 8 for one night, and decided on this hotel based on a recommendation of a friend and its location. It is in a very lively area of Bangkok with lots of options for dining and partying in every direction. The BTS is right outside the hotel. In spite of the busy-ness of Sukhumvit, the hotel was extremely quiet. My room was modern and of ample size, and the bed and linens were comfortable. My only complaint is around a poorly designed shower door with a small gap at the bottom; this allowed water to pass through and flood the bathroom floor. Breakfast in the morning was adequate, and included coffee / tea, some breads, fruits, and an egg menu. The staff was friendly and helpful, but very slow to arrange for our taxi service to Pattaya. Based on this, if you need a taxi to a nearby location / airport, book early to give the front desk staff some time. Overall, a nice experience and I’d stay again!

Great location & service!”

BTS (mass transit system) right outside the hotel, clean room and good service

It was so easy to travel around in Bangkok using the BTS (Nana Station), located right at the front of the hotel. There is a new shopping mall, Terminal 21, within walking distance from the hotel. Lots of massage places surrounding the hotel. For cheap massage, you can head towards Sukhumvit Soi 11 (opposite road) - Bann Phuan. Great night life in that area! The room was well maintained and clean. Wireless internet access was speedy. English breakfast served at the cafe. Service was great - each time we came back from shopping, the hotel staff would greet us at the lift and chat with us about our shopping experience. The only downside was that we booked the basic room which has no windows - which meant no natural light and air ventilation.

A pleasant surprise”

Clean, comfy, on doorstep of Nana BTS

Stayed for 7 nights in the premier room, so the room is a relatively decent size. Ask for a room with a window if you want natural light. All windows are frosted though, so no view, but then you're not missing much outside. However, the surprising thing about this place is although the surroundings look rundown, the hotel itself is anything but. Everything was clean, the staff are friendly, and the internet was decent. They also readily loaned me a LAN cable free of charge when I needed one. Also, I was on the 2nd floor, and it was still pretty quiet. Come down from Nana BTS station on the side with the huge open field. The street entrance is through a tailor's shop (Raja, I think). There's a pretty clear On8 sign outside the tailor's shop. If you want to go in through Soi 8, look out for Ravi Sehgal on the right-hand corner, then turn right again at a massage parlour called Footjoy. The main hotel entrance is right at the end of that little side street. The hotel is 1 station away from the mall Terminal 21 (Asok station, which is reachable on foot), and there is street food outside the hotel every day (except Mondays) which is fun to try out. If you're into bars and stuff, there are a few right outside, and more in the vicinity. Everything else is easily reachable by BTS (literally on the doorstep), or flag a taxi/tuktuk from the road. (Generally, it's a better idea to flag a moving one from the road and bargain to a price you're willing to pay. Don't take taxis or tuktuks that are already parked and waiting for customers. The only time we did that, it was a pretty bad experience.) All in all, I don't have much complaints about this hotel. The only minor suggestion I have is to change the decorative picture in the toilet, which was a somewhat bizarre and slightly creepy photo of a shadowy man. Otherwise, definitely recommended!
