Best Place in Japan”
I have traveled a lot in Japan, but this one is maybe the best hostel that i have found. Really clean, the staff is smiling and gentle, you could eat inside and there are 2 little onsen. It's really all perfect!!! If i come back to Gora, i'll sure come back here.

Awesome hostel in Gora/Hakone!”
We loved our stay at hakone tent in October! The shared facilities are great--two onsens (one to reserve and one first come first serve) were so nice, relaxing bar area with seating and nice tatami floor rooms. We had some drinks at the bar but didn't have dinner there. There is a large kitchen that you can use (I just made tea there but saw others cooking). There is a great breakfast place down the hill but not a lot to do without taking the train somewhere. The station is just about 3-5 minutes away and you have to walk up a hill to the hostel. Loved the community feel and relaxing atmosphere!

Very nice place & amazing staff”
Very nice and conveniently located place to visit around Hakone area (next to one of the train stations). Amazing staff: very helpful and really friendly; always giving tips and interesting talks! The value for money is undebatable! Nice onsen on the premises and japanese style comfortable rooms

An economical hostel with shared private onsen ”
It is a prefect place for young travelers who would like to meet new friends. It is convenient as it is near the train station. Some shops and restaurants are nearby.

Fun Hostel, Good Food, Friendly Staff”
Booked a single room here. Great value for money. There was parking across the street for free, but it was very limited so ask ahead. The pizzas were great, and the onsen was also pretty good.

Exceptional”
The hotel has a unique charm to it. The hosts are very accommodating and very friendly. Also, the hotel’s location is very accessible to Gora station that connects to the cable car and all other attractions.

Great stay in a cosy & friendly guesthouse!”
Hakone Tent was a lovely place to rest after exploring Hakone. The staff were so helpful & spoke great English. It was warm and cosy and the private onsen was such a special addition to the stay. The bar was a nice place to hang out in the evening and the pizza was good! Easy to find from Gora station, and the check in/check out was so easy and quick. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to friends visiting - thanks Hakone Tent!

Great for the price”
The staff is the most valuable asset here. They are friendly, extremely helpful and most of them speak English, or at least the ones that don't try really hard. This is a great place to practice your Japanese with other guests. In general, the people who stay here are friendly too. I will go back.

Nice refurbished Ryokan with onsen”
Location was easy to find, next to Gora station. And is a very cosy ryokan with it’s own onsen. Love the lounge area , very cosy and comfortable to hang out and meet other travellers.

Pretty perfect”
Pros: Hakone Tent was a gem. I knew i wanted to spwnd a night in Hakone and I wanted an onsen experiwnce and traditional type room. A few other spots had the full Ryokan experience but their cleanliness reviews were suspect. At Hakone Tent, we got the traditional room with super comfy futons and private indoor onsens which were perfect since I'm tattooed and didnt want to deal with being rejected at the public onsens. The bar food was decent, the atmosphere is chill, and even though we didn't get it I recommend you get the breakfast. We tried finding spots near for breakfast and nothing was open so get it!! It smelled really good too. They have yukatas for rent but they may not have your size if you're standard American size. Cons: honestly can't think of any. There are spiders in some dark corners but that's not their fault

Best experience in Japan so far!”
My friend and I travelled to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto before arriving at Hakone Tent, and it was the best part of our trip. Even with our heavy luggages, getting to the inn from Gora station was easy. Gora is the best place to stay in Hakone as it is the terminal for the tram to see Mt Fuji, and a terminal for all major buses. The interior of the inn touts a distinct hipster vibe, and the young, musically inclined team that run the place are friendly and accommodating. We requested to upgrade our 6-sharing room to a private room the next night, and both room types were immaculately clean and comfortable. The perk of the shared rooms is that you get to make a lot of friends. In a town that shuts down once the sun sets, the common lounge is a great place to interact with the staff as well as local and international tourists. They have a bar that serves drinks and good food. Available is also a selection of musical instruments for you to flex your creative muscles. The two nights we stayed there, the staff mingled with guests, making sure everyone was having a good time. Our next trip to Hakone, we will definitely repeat our stay in Harkone Tent. Modern and traditional experience under one roof!”
We both enjoyed our experience very much in Hakone Tent. There was a mini slope up to the guest house so be cautious with heavy luggages. Location is strategic as it's just next to Gora station. Easy convenience to nearby attractions. Staff were helpful and friendly. First time sleeping on the futon beds on top of tatami and they were awesome. The private onsen was great too! What I loved a lot was the cozy bar and kitchen area. Good to chill around while listening to the jazzy acoustic music in a very nice interesting set-up of the whole place. Really recommend this place if you're looking for a traditional and modern experience.

Love the place! ”
I had a good time in Hakone Tent, futons was nice and cozy plus there's a heater in the room for cold weather. The dormitory room is bigger than I thought which was nice. Food was good here, love the grilled chicken and soup plus two bread in the morning. But what I really love is the private onsens, there are two in the place and I got to tried the two. One is i think is Cypress bath and the other one is a stone bath, I like the Cypress bath. The place is near the Gora station and one station stop to the Open Air Museum. I would definitely recommend this place to stay in Hakone. Loving it there. :D

Home away from home”
I am glad I chose to stay in Gora instead of Hakone city center which is too commercial to me. The guest house is very close to the agora station. With the train free pass I can easily go anywhere around Hakone from the guest house. The best part of the guest house is its home feel atmosphere and wonderful staffs. The guest house also serves meals which are surprisingly delicious and reasonable-priced.

very good place!”
Staffs are very friendly and willing to speak with the guests with a smile. What I really liked was the onsen. There are 2 onsens inside the guest house. Big one and small one. Water is directly from the owakudani mountain. It was a great experience. Notice: 2 onsens are in one place but only divided by a wall, which means you can hear any sounds from each places. You can visit bar and lounge anytime until 10pm. Food was also great! You should at least try chocolate cake&ice cream.(hand-made) This place made my day pleasent at hakone.

Super great experience!”
The experience staying at HAKONE TENT is the best among all in my traveling experiences. The environment is full of traditional Japanese styles, and it's clean, well-organized and neat! I have to specially mention the staffs there, they are really nice and helpful; they are the most unforgettable part in my stay at HAKONE TENT. Please, do visit there if you ever have chance going to HAKONE.

Clean and spacious rooms”
Hakone tent was was a perfect lodging in hakone on a budget . It was clean, staff was helpful, and their small on site onsen was open 24 hours. I would not recommend for light sleepers however because the traditional tatami rooms have thin walls. Very conveniently located by the station , several restaurants and markets. Overall a great value.

Hakone tent was a gem! We loved our stay. It’s a great location close walk to the Gora station. There are two private onsens which made for an awesome experience.
