Review For Orange Pekoe Wow! The name invokes visions of a wonderfully appointed lobby, with exotic decorations of varying hues, not to mention a delightful statued garden that you might pass thro... and eye-popping tapestrys and rugs... not! Guess again! Agoda's description and my comments: "Well positioned in Bukit Bintang, (NOT AT ALL! Good luck finding it...) Orange Pekoe Guesthouse is the ideal point of departure for your excursions in Kuala Lumpur.(not at all. It's difficult to find, and even MORE difficult to get to the MRT train because of the street construction going on... And ideal point would be next to the train station!!!) From here, guests can enjoy easy access to all that the lively city has to offer.(uh uh... Not easy at all It's a sweaty walk to the train... and you have to put up with the taunting of the street vendors, massages parlors, restaurant barkers - to and from...) With its convenient location, (relative to what...?) the guesthouse provides easy access to the city's must-see destinations. (no way easy access...) Orange Pekoe Guesthouse offers simple, clean, and friendly accommodation.( yes...) All guest accommodations feature thoughtful amenities. Free Wi-Fi, daily change of towels, writing desks, and safe boxes are just a few elements of the simple comfort that you will enjoy at this guesthouse. The hotel's host of recreational offerings ensures you have plenty to do during your stay. ( don't know about ANY recreational offerings...) Orange Pekoe Guesthouse is an excellent choice for your stay in Kuala Lumpur." (I disagree... It's a good choice - but not excellent...) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The pace is hard to find beacuse the STREET signs are hard to find - If you don't have a navigational device - good luck! Most don't inderstand english! I asked - and the locals didn't know - not even the street name!!! Sent me in the wrong direction. Amazing! The Agoda picture displayed is NOT of a sleeping room. It

Definitely worth a stay”

Cleanliness, friendly service, lovely design

The stay was definitely better than I expected, me and my friends enjoyed every bits of it during our stay there. We couldn't find our way to the guesthouse at first, so we gave a phone call to the hotel and were given a warming approach with simple and clear directions to reach there. Our backpacks and luggages were allowed to be deposited at the place before / after our check-in / check-out time, the receptionist was more than welcome to provide the service. This definitely eased our day to shop in KL without extra loads :D The family room setting was really spacious and very very clean even on the walkways. Fine choice of colours of the furnitures and wall were also a highlight for the stay. Self-service breakfast at the pantry was pleasant but with limited choice, if a simple breakfast just to fill up an empty stomach, Orange Pekoe provides just enough. Or else, a mamak stall which provides local delicacy is just within walking distance around a corner, the food tastes quite okay too. Just that it was rather noisy outside during the night and foreigners could be seen lingering around since there were a few pubs and cafes around, better to have some accompaniment for females during the short walk from the monorail station to reach the guesthouse. Ear plugs may be needed depending on the room's position. So in short, we'll definitely be back to Orange Pekoe Guesthouse, one short amazing stay and great place to be :)

Great budget hotel, very friendly staff”

Location, affordable rate and good-sized room

Orange Pekoe is located in a residential street in the Bukit Bintang area, which I think adds a lot to its charm, being away from the noise and busyness of the more crowded tourist areas. It's only 5 minutes away from Jalan Alor, the famous food street, and 5-10 minutes away from the nearest train station (Bukit Bintang). It's challenging to navigate the steep streets to the guesthouse from the train station when you have a heavy luggage, but my 68-year old Mom managed it pretty well. The staff were friendly, the room was great and big, but the bathroom was tiny even for petite people like me. Overall though, I'd come back and stay here again.

Great Hospitality”

The lovely receptionist, the clean room, the price,

We had the most lovely stay in Orange Pekoe Guesthouse. The really nice receptionist recommended a local Indian Thai Malay Diner which we visited every night during our stay in Kualar Lumpur. I would recommend that if you book with agoda and you are told that the hotel is full for your selected nights try to ring the hotel as it may be that only one of your selected nights are full.

Second time around”

Enjoyed my stay last time (2016) so I decided to book Orange Pekoe again for my layover trip this year. Really loved how easy check-in was and how accommodating the staff were. They let us leave our bags after checkout as we explore the city with our spare time. The internet signal can be intermittent though. But if you want a guesthouse near the train station (Bukit Bintang station) and also close to food (Jalan Alor street), then this is for you.

Comfort close to shops”

Large, clean room, ensuite bathroom, close to lots of malls

This was the perfect location for us. Tucked away in a comparitively quiet side street near the busy Bukit Bintang MRT station. Mutliple amazing malls within 5-10 min walk distance like: Lot 10, fancy Pavillion, Low Yat Tech Mall, Berjaya Times Square, Sungei Wang for clothes and shoes etc. Also an easy walk to Petronas Towers and KL Gardens, Menara KL Tower and close to bus stop for free purple travel KL bus to Chinatown and markets. It was Ramadan during our stay and we were a 2 minute walk from Jalan Alor where amazing food markets were all along the street at night. The guesthouse was immaculately clean, white tiled, shoes off at door, fast internet, breakfast of toast, spreads, cereals, coffee/tea and a curry option if you wanted Malay. Organised a taxi to KLIA for us at 80 MR = as cheap as both getting the fast train from KL Sentral station but without the hassle of lugging our bags there via the MRT. If arriving at Bukit Bintang by MRT, look up a map before arriving as this guest house can be reached in 5 minutes easily from the street below the station by navigating a few side streets. We got too hot with our packs and had to hop in a taxi to be charged a 20 MR flat fee only to be taken on a 2 minute ride!! Frustrating. Easiest to get onto Jalan Bukit Bintang opposite the Lot 10 mall and then cross over by the KFC to go down Changkat Bukit Bintang. Pass by Jalan Alor and turn right either down the concrete steps and across a few side streets to reach Jalan Angsoka or turn right at the first side street and follow it. Don't bother with transport!! This area is super busy but the hostel is a quiet reprieve.

2 Nights in KL”

If you’ve never been to South East Asia before or Malaysia in particular then you may be a bit put off by the immediate neighbourhood of this guest house – but don’t be. The location is great – so central – and some of the restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood are very friendly, warm and welcoming and serve delicious, mainly Indian/South Asian dishes at reasonable prices. The one directly opposite on the corner – wish I could remember its name – also do delicious home made yoghurt and Asian desserts and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. The Orange Pekoe itself is a gem. It is scrupulously clean, well maintained, and functionally appointed – no unnecessary clutter. The private – on suite – double room that we booked was small and basic – but at least they provide 2 bedside lamps, which often hotels that charge double this rate don’t. The toilet is very small with an over toilet shower. However, as I said, everything works, it is extremely clean, and looks like it has just been decorated the day before. The breakfast is simple but hey at this price what do you expect. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the reception/lounge area is homely and welcoming. If you are on a budget – or even not – highly recommended.

location, friendly staff, comfortable

This place is great for a quick trip to Kuala Lumpur. The staff was incredibly helpful; they helped us organize our entire time there! From recommending restaurants to giving directions, they exceeded my expectations. The breakfast is nice with bananas, toast, and coffee/tea. The place is very clean and cute. The A/C is cold and the beds are comfortable. They are a 2 minute walk from Jalan Alor or Changkat Bukit Bintang. You can't beat the price for the quality and location. I would definitely stay here if I return!

Location, staff friendliness, clean and tidy

I have always stayed here and will continue to stay at Orange Pekoe. The staff are very friendly, and the accomodation is always very clean and tidy. The location is excellent. It is close to the monorail stations, the Pavillion shopping centre, the food streets and the trendy bars. The only odd thing about this guesthouse is the front entrance which slightly seedy, however there is a great Indian restaurant in the same street, and a small supermarket also. I love it, will stay again.

Great Location and Staff”

Arrived very early after an overnight flight. Friendly reception and permission to leave our bags but then to our surprise they did a change of rooms for us and let us in. A great relief! Our budget room was very small and basic but clean and they even replaced our towels for a late check-out which was appreciated. A standard or luxury room is recommended. Staff were also very helpful in organizing a taxi to the airport. Orange Pekoe is only a few minutes walk to the monorail and to great eating. PS. If you buy a burger (very good) at the "Burger Bar" (?) just down the road forget drinks. The prices are a rip off!

Staff are wonderful, location is great and the place is spotlessly clean

We stayed at OPG for 2 nights in April in a deluxe room. I cannot find any faults whatsoever - the room was spacious and very clean, the staff were extremely helpful and attentive and the location is great, right between two monorail stations. The breakfast in a nicely decorated and clean dining area was just enough to get us started (loved the kaya toast :))). This place is the best budget b&b we have ever stayed in, so if you're not a fussy 5 star hotel guest, but are looking for soewhere to rest after a busy day in KL this is a place to be! Thank you Orange Pekoe :)

Simple, Clean and Comfortable Stay”

Clean, Economy and Comfortable

I've read a lot of good reviews of this guesthouse and that made me decided to give it a try. I must say that for the price you paid, this guesthouse is really worth it. It's really very clean! You need to take off your shoes before the reception area and walk barefooted all around the guesthouse and I think that helps a lot to keep the area clean. It's about a 10 min walk to the guesthouse from Bukit Bintang Monorail Station. There are two ways to access the guesthouse from Bukit Bintang Monorail Station. Via Jalan Berangan and Jalan Angsoka is nearer but this road is a bit dark at night. Via Changkat Bukit Bintang and Jalan Nagasari is a bit longer but brighter at night as there are a lot of eateries and pubs along the road. Great B&B if you are on budget and want a clean place to stay in.

Great location in KL.”

Location, Price, Staff

We stayed just one night at the Oange Pekoe Guesthouse. The price was reasonable. The area was easy to get to via the Monorail and they had good information to get there. I will say that the internet in the rooms was terrible. The bed was sorely uncomfortable and wires were sticking out all over. I just did not sleep well on that. The breakfast was mediocre, but the price was low so I guess that is what you get. The location was great. Really close to the food street. Also just around the corner from TAPS, a great craft beer bar in KL. It was a little hard to find as the Orange Pekoe sign was not lit up, apparently it used to be called "The Nest" so that was the sign that was lit up.

Great Location ”

Location, Location, Price

Positives: Excellent Location. Its a few minutes walking distance to the Pub Strip, the eat street and the main shopping center in and around Bukit Bintang. The GoKL free shuttle rides (Purple Line) are also a few minutes walking distance on the other side. In short, a backpackers paradise. Concerns: The price of the rooms is pretty decent for this location - but the rooms are small. The major gripe would be about the toilet - its really really small, its like having a shower within a WC. If you take a bath, you would end up splashing water all over the WC, the wall and the towel rack and maybe a little water would creep below the door and into the room. The main door to the room is also not properly insulated, there were gaps between the door and the frame. With the corridor lights remaining on for the entire night, the same seeps into your room and as a result its not quite dark even when its time to sleep. We had a faulty AC during our stay - it leaked water on to the floors and flooded it. The hotel provided a bucket and towels to soak up the water. The maintenance man could only come the day after, so we had to spend an entire night listening to the sound of dripping water into a bucket and getting up in the dead of the night to empty the bucket (lest it spills onto the floor again)

location, price, air-conditioning

If you just need somewhere to sleep, Orange Pekoe is a fantastic option. The staff is super-friendly, the common areas somewhat stylish and very clean (shared "living room" with television, a few shared computers), and the no-frills rooms outfitted with a desk, safe, and surprisingly comfortable bed. Breakfast and all-day coffee/tea is inclusive. I'd stay here again when in KL by myself, but not while traveling with my wife.

The cleanliness and very accommodating staff and location.

It was my second time at Orange Pekoe and I was not disappointed at all. They accorded us the same courtesy that we received two years ago. I just have one complaint, there a lot of Bangladeshi/Pakistani at the area beside their door, which somehow scared us. it was kinda dirty at the area beside the door. There was a digging/road repair done in the middle of the night.
