We are one with Nature”
OReillys Rainforest Retreat is absolutely stunning. Everything from the drive there, to the hikes, the people and the stunning views. I cannot recommend this place enough. This place is great for couples looking for a naughty weekend away or for hikers that seek the breathless views or even families looking to put down the technology and enjoy the marvels of nature. OReillys is beautiful :)
Beautiful location”
Had overnight stay here recently prior to starting Gold coast great walk. The location is fabulous, so peaceful up on the mountain and the birds, lots of colourful parrots, are beautiful and prolific. We stayed in retreat room prior to walk(inclement weather)It was very clean with soft comfortable beds and lovely views from our little veranda..We stayed at the Green mountain campsite at the conclusion of the walk where we had the company of dozens of kangaroos.Ate at the bar(not the al carte resturant) we had a lovely sunset and stunning mountain views.Food pretty good value too and good size servings. They have happy hour which seems very popular. We enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend staying here especially if you love nature.
Great views and rooms”
we found the room to be of a high standard and as it is in the original part of the retreat, there was no television for distraction. the dinner/breakfast package is good value since it offers a savings over ordinary prices. the meals are well presented and very tasty. the rainforest surroundings are quite relaxing and offer many walk options. a very enjoyable stay and definitely value for money.
Amazing first stay at O'Reillys”
I have long wanted to visit and finally got the chance. We spent three nights in a Rainforest villa and I would have been happy to stay for a week- next time we will. The rainforest villas are private with a spa on the deck. I could have stayed at the main resort more cheaply, but glad we did it this way. The villas are great if you want spac, privacy and to make your own meals. They are in canopy so no view, but that was fine by us. You really need char if you are going to stay here. Pool was amazing down at th eLost world spa. So may activities and not enough time. We will be back.
Comfortable with fantastic views and walks”
Stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. The only problem we had was that we had booked a mountain view and were given a ground floor room where views were obstructed by trees and bushes. This was soon rectified after a trip to reception where the staff were very helpful and changed our room to one with fantastic views. Husband went on the early morning bird walk and was impressed with the knowledge of the guide and the great variety of birds flitting around the rainforest. There was a variety of wallabies that came out to graze at dusk with numbers increasing throughout the night. We met Michael O'Reilly at breakfast who would provide toast for anyone who wanted it! The restaurant provided excellent a la carte food, or you could get a bar meal from the bar upstairs where you could also watch the fantastic sunsets. There is a variety of walks throughout the rainforest, for people to choose from. The Tree Top walk and Mountain Gardens are well worth a visit. We also did the Wishing Tree Walk which was quite an easy walk and very enjoyable. O'Reilly's has something for everyone, (except those wanting to party) and we would recommend it to anyone - don't forget your camera.
Exceptional”
A true retreat in the middle of a rainforest with special exclusive walks. But beware the infinity pool with exceptional views is freezing cold, otherwise all is wonderful.
Worth to stay even is on top of the hill”
This is an amazing place in Gold Coast. It located in a very natural place which good for kids and us. Wild animals all around us and the sky is so clear for watching star in the night time.
Entirely relaxed within the environment of nature”
Marvelous surrounding within the rainforest retreat with very quiet environment and fresh air
Excellent”
Birding holiday. . Fantastic for birds but lots of options. , billy tea tour with O’Reilly a s Glen Trefor a hoot. ,,, saw Lyre birds on track ,,, restaurant very expensive .pub ok . Good Bush .rainfirest. Wild life experience, true Australia mmm juxtaposition to the Gold Coast .
Excellent location in the middle of a national park”
We only stayed one night at this place and immediately regretted it was only for one night (we had pre-booked all our accommodation). It would have been nicer to have stayed one or two more nights. Bird is abundant and there is a good variety of plant species; ferns and orchids growing on trees. As we visited in the autumn, various fungi had produced mushrooms and other interesting fruiting bodies. Temperature wise, the weather was similar to Auckland at that time. The room decor was mainly wooden with cedar blinds - one of the nicest hotel rooms I have seen. There was an oil column heater which worked fine but I would have expected a heat pump as that is more energy efficient. Wifi was slow but given the remote location it is probably hard to get a fast connection. The view was fantastic. There are a few short walks around the retreat, plus a few longer ones. Better information of facilities and scale map of local walks should have been provided. The restaurant is a bit expensive.
Perfect Retreat”
Absolutely superb location with great self-contained houses. Incredible walks through world heritage rainforest. Birds galore. Beautiful pool to wind down in. Staff were great, activities plentiful. Or you can just be self sufficient if you prefer and escape into the natural wonders of Lamington. Will be back!
Exceptional”
The perfect escape to the rainforest. Great value, including daily activities and immaculately presented room. Staff very friendly and went out of their way to organise me a transfer to the site. Thanks!
Beautiful”
We had a fantastic two nights . The staff we most helpful food was good. Having the mini mart was Herat as we could get a snack instead of a big meal. The atmosphere of being in the mountains the chill in the air and in the rainforest was for a very relaxing two nights
Exceptional”
staff were so lovely and when we asked for late check out it was given no problem at all, the venue and surrounds are so pretty , looking over the rainforest, lovely weekend away from the busy city life.
Villas Fabulous ”
Very nice, we were two over sixty couples, Villa was great, each bedroom having own ensuite, kitchen facilities great, however all the facilities at hotel itself need some attention, getting a bit rundown. The parking area for two cars at each villa, really should read two small cars, we just managed to squeeze second car off the road, but it wasn't undercover. The happy hour was not really happy hour, only related to a few cocktails! The food offered in the restaurant was not worth the monies paid, very average! We were pleased we bought our own supplies, that was the best, sitting on the balcony each night enjoying a few drinks and our own cooking. All in all it was a pleasant stay as Villa was so nice. I did have to clean filters in our bedroom aircon as it started spitting ice all over the room one night and it was not working properly. Filters were chockers with dust, obviously had not been serviced for sometime. Be aware if you book a villa the rainforest ones a fair distance to main hotel and it us uphill, so for elderly people you would have to drive or book mountain view villa higher up the hill!
Great place to relax, explore or energise”
Can do the key trails from here like tree top walk, wishing tree, Moran's fall, glow-worm, etc. can join some of the activities there too - some free, some paid. Nice restaurant and cafe so getting food is not a problem here. Ample parking so even after checkout, can leave car here and simply walk. We did the wishing tree walk half way( stopped T mountain gardens and turned back. Fortunately when we did the Moran's fall trail, we did it one way, at the fall, there is another way that goes via the O'reilly private property. Since we are guests, we took that route and chanced upon lots of animals - wallabies, birds, etc. saw the flying fox wires, some obstacles for those seeking thrills. Past that onto a road track that joined back to wishing tree trail( the other end). Good thing we found this route and continue our tracking to see the wishing tree and back to the retreat to pick up our car and head downhill.
Welcome return ”
I recently returned to O'Reilly's after a number of years. I had never stayed in the Guesthouse, only camped. I had a single room which was part of the old house/lodge. The room was surprisingly roomy for a single and had a quaint charm - everything was older but worked. Also a nice view from a small balcony. The resort pools were very welcome on a hot day and the walk to the villas for the infinity pool was worth it. Generally speaking the whole resort is expensive, but in Lamington it's all about the location - once you're in that rainforest everything else melts away.
Very homely nice staff good food. Just a lovely place”
The rainforest is wonderful , we are in out late 70s but still did lots of walking. The other guests were mainly friendly a good mix. The staff were really kind
Wonderful stay”
We stayed in the retreat for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. The room we stayed in was nice and roomy. So not a small room. The views were stunning. I definitely will book it again. m
