Boutique hotel in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter: staff are brilliant and extremely helpful”
This boutique hotel is well-located at the centre of action in the Old Quarter, almost an oasis of calm surrounded by the hustle and bustle of inner city street life that is Old Quarter Hanoi. You are within moments of stepping out of the hotel in the busy shopping streets around Hoàn Kiếm Lake, with all the sounds, sights and smells of a unique historical city in Asia. The front office staff are exceptional and transformed our stay (split by a night's tour to Halong Bay) from very good to extremely memorable. The welcome briefing (accompanied by a nice cold drink) was similar to what I'd expect from a five star luxury resort and very informative to boot (thank you Su Li!), with very helpful recommendations of what to do and the best local insights of what to sample during our time in Hanoi. Brian and Ron at the front desk and breakfast manager were very engaging and David Pham (hotel manager) has excellent teams of staff who handled all the check-in and out details with the minimum of fuss and were hugely attentive throughout without being over-intrusive. At one point, I had a small paper-cut and almost before I knew it a staff member was already offering me a plaster! A couple of very minor points to note if this bothers you: 1) This hotel is on a very busy street (Hang Bac) in the Old Quarter, and some background street noise is evident in the rooms overlooking the main road. We weren't bothered by it, and neither were my parents/young children in my travelling party, but if you mind this kind of background street noise interrupting your sleep, you might request for a room towards the rear of the hotel. 2) The plumbing of the hotel is a little old, and tissues are not to be disposed of in the toilet bowl.
Best hotel we stayed in Hanoi”
I cannot say enough about how excellent our experience was at Oriental Central Hotel. If you're looking for a friendly, clean and comfortable stay in the Old Quarter in Hanoi then you can't get better than this. The staff were super friendly (and genuine), very helpful, very giving and are one of the nicest people we've met in Vietnam, especially Mary, Thomas and the staff on reception. We stayed there on NYE and when we checked out the staff gave us a gift in celebration of the new year (Vietnamese coffee and filter) such a lovely touch and it made us feel really valued - thank you :) Small little things like that make the holiday experience all the more sweet. In regards to the hotel amenities itself, it's a small boutique hotel but they take care of it really well. The rooms are on the small side but it's very clean and has all the necessary equipment for a very comfortable stay. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the bathroom clean and spacious. On arrival you get some extras like free fruit plate and bags of chips - again, these extra small touches really make a difference in feeling like you found a gem in the middle of busy Hanoi. We stayed in three different hotels while we were in Hanoi and this was by far (very far) the best hotel. It was just a shame that they were booked out those other days we wanted to stay so had to find alternatives. Highly recommend this hotel so enjoy it like we did.
Superb service & great location!”
This is our first couple trip to Hanoi. The hotel is located at old quarter. Very conveniently located to all the food and places of interest. Room is beautiful and clean. Impress with the service rendered by all the hotel staff. Always smiling, greet us with warmness, provided is with good advice on how to travel around. Special thanks to Lucy who assist us from the day we booked the hotel till we checked out. On the day we arrived and realise we accidentally took a wrong luggage. We were worried and panic. She quickly helped to contact the airport and found the owner. Lucky and the manager gave us advice on how to collect our luggage at airport, help us got the contact of luggage owner and prepare a car to drive us to settle all within 2 hours. Truly grateful to all from Oriental Central hotel. Will go back again when we come back to Hanoi. Strong recommendation to all who want to book a hotel at Hanoi!
Best hotel ever”
This hotel is nothing short of outstanding and one if the best we have stayed in throughout all of Vietnam and SE Asia. Lovely room, complimentary water and snacks each day made this a good respite from the frenzy of Hanoi. The location couldn't be better right in the heart of the old quarter. The staff is the most amazing we have ever encountered and will go out of their way to accommodate any request or to arrange a tour or transportso that you will be sure to enjoy your Hanoi stay. The breakfast includes a choice of made to order items as well as a buffet that includes fresh fruits, pastries, yougurt and a range of Vietnamese and western items- and of course Vietnamese coffee iced or hot! We would definitely stay here again. Having been in hanoi before we were a little lukewarm towards the city. Our stay at the Oriental Central chafed our minds. We wish we could have stayed longer in this marvelous hotel.
Exceptional”
Oriental Central's staff was very welcoming and accommodating. We took a coach (bus) from Hanoi airport for 30,000VND each (2 travellers) for a 40 minute journey. He dropped us off at a point 5 minutes away from the hotel so we had to catch a taxi for the remaining journey. The taxi we caught tried to scam us by not turning in the correct streets (be aware apparently this is very common in Hanoi!). When we made the booking we had asked for a higher levelled room as we thought we'd get a view but this wasnt very wise as it was always very hot. So the staff suggested we have two keys, with one always being in the room to keep the aircon on (this worked really well). Room itself was very clean and breakfast was decent. 5 minute walk from the main roundabout in Hanoi and nearby markets. Solid street for nightlife 5 minutes away. Prime location for everything in Hanoi. They also checked in for our flight on the last day, printing off our boarding passes as well. We requested a later check out and left the luggage at the hotel while we went around for last minute shopping. Special mention to Mary as she was very helpful and genuine in her service. We rode a tuktuk to the hotel one day and the driver tried to get away with not giving us proper change and Mary came out and helped us. She also asked if we needed to freshen up or take a shower before our flight, which we would have loved had we known that was an option....the taxi to the airport was $15 usd which we thought was reasonable. Staff at Oriental will go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Above and Beyond ”
I stayed at the Oriental Central in Hanoi with my boyfriend, grandmother, my cousin and her partner. Throughout our three night stay at the Oriental Central Hotel we were continually pleasantly surprised by the high quality hospitality. From greeting us in the rain at our taxi door armed with umbrellas to telephoning our room on our last evening to ensure we had factored in sufficient time for the return journey from hotel to airport, the hotel staff did everything within their power to ensure that we had everything we needed. Choice of accommodation in Hanoi is severely limited compared to other touristic hotspots in Vietnam and so the Oriental Central was a hugely pleasant surprise. We will be returning when more family visit next year.
Exceeded expectations!”
Enjoyed our stay at Oriental Central Hanoi very much. The hospitality and sincere service by Mary and her team was top-notch - from our first encounter at check-in, during breakfast and when re-checking in after our trip to Halong Bay. The staff also provided a walking map around the Old Quarter and tips on where to visit/eat. We had a triple sharing room which was extremely comfortable, with nothing to fault. A local souvenir from the hotel at the end of our stay was a delight!
Lovely one night stay”
Super nice and friendly staff who gave us a nice welcoming & were helpful in every way. We were even upgraded to a bigger room and wished we could have stayed there for more than one night! Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Lots of variety at breakfast, and very good quality and portion sizes. Located only a very short walk to the main lake within the Old Quarter. Only thing was the transfer to the airport, we thought they'd have their own personal transport like we had in the other Hanoi hotel we stayed at. Instead they put us in a regular taxi after we'd already paid them, and the driver unfortunately was quite a creep who made us feel uncomfortable & tried to charge us extra when we got to the airport. But the stay itself was great and would happily stay there again. They even gave us a small gift of coffee when we checked out.
Excellent hotel. Highly recommended”
The hotel was the bright spark throughout our stay in hanoi. We stayed a total of 3 non consecutive nights. We could leave our luggage at the hotel when travelling to sapa and halong bay and our luggages would be brought up to the new room whenever we returned. Staff were very friendly and professional. It felt like a personal concierge service from them and they always made a conscious effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They would also enquire on our travel and tour details upon check in and help us call the relevant parties to ensure that all our bookings and pick up times were in place. Recommend to use the hotel's airport transfer as well. They even upgraded us to private car at the price of normal taxi. Would definitely return to oriental central if we were to go back to hanoi.
AMAZING”
I can not recommend Oriental Central Hotel enough! The staff was incredible. They were helpful, kind and welcoming. They made my experience! The hotel itself was beautiful. I will 1000% stay here again when I come back to Hanoi. It is right in the center of old quarter but somehow still quiet! Thank you for your thoughtful service.
Fantastic Hotel, incredible staff”
Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. This is a fantastic hotel, staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, bear in mind english is not their first language but feel free to ask questions and chat to them as they will help make your stay special. The rooms are great value for the amount charged, Location is amazing, right in the old quarter and close to some bars and restaurants. Hanoi itself is a great place but easy to be taken advantage of if an inexperienced traveller. If thats you, ask the hotel staff for advise and follow their recommendations :-)
Excellent Boutique Style Hotel in Old Quarter”
Staff are extremely helpful and professional. Rooms are newly remodeled and very nice. Fruit bowl and snacks in room on arrival. Also coffee and tea and 2 complimentary waters. Rooms have a refrigerator with drinks for a small fee. The morning breakfast is included and is very good in the restaurant off the lobby. Again wonderful service and presentation. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Hanoi and wanting to stay in the Old Quarter. Fun authentic neighborhood with excellent restaurants and shopping nearby.
Wonderful hotel in city centre, incredible staff and lovely food”
Thomas and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable during our stay. They hotel is located around the corner from the main hub of the old quarter which made getting around in our first couple of nights very easy. The breakfast was delicious, the staff attentive and the room was bright, comfortable, great bathroom, and complimentary snacks and drinks were much appreciated. We booked another hotel for our second stay in the city after a trip out of town, and how we wish we were still at the Oriental Central hotel instead!
Beautiful hotel in perfect condition & Amazing staff”
This very beautiful hotel is located in a lively street of the Old quarter. It is closed to the night market and many shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel is recent and is very well maintained. The rooms are decorated with good taste. While they are not very spacious - you are in a traditional house - they are very comfortable and stufficient. What really makes the difference in this hotel is the staff. The quality of the service is very high, at least equal to what you would get in 4* hotel. They offer a turndown service and will do everything they can to meet your needs. I would say that the only weakness is the absence of a swimming pool. To sum up, I had an excellent stay at Oriental Central Hotel and can only recommend it to you!
Impeccable service, great location”
One of the best hotels to stay in Hanoi if you do not want to compromise on cleanliness and comfort. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and spoke great English, and ensured our needs were met. They even prepared breakfast to go in the morning as we left for our tours at 7am. Rooms were extremely clean and comfortable - and hotel is located right smack in old quarter where there's much food and entertainment options available.
Exceptional hotel in the heart of the old quarter”
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel due to the high standard of the hotel itself and the attentiveness of the staff working there. They were exceptionally helpful and made us feel very welcome. The location is perfect being located in the centre of the old quarter and easy walking distance to many attractions. We will definitely be returning to this hotel if we come to Hanoi again and would recommend it to everyone as it was the best hotel we stayed in during our time in Vietnam.
Excellent Staff”
In the midst of Old Quarter, Hanoi. The staff fully extended their service which we can't even find in 5 hotels that I had stayed. Every staff ensure we are comfortable, assist us by confirming with our tour agent the pick-up the night before regardless if I make reservation through them. The light in my room was flicking. I reported when I go for breakfast. After breakfast, the work was done. The doormen and the receptionist walked us out, stopped the vehicles, carry our luggage to the car upon check-out. Even open and close the door of the car. Whenever we move in & out, without fail, they will greet us. From the doormen to the restaurant staff to the receptionist and maintenance, I would give them a 6-star award.
Hidden gem”
An authentic Vietnamese French style hotel that is beautifully presented, with exceptional staff and in a wonderful location in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. This is our second stay over 2 years and we would definitely come back again. The staff are also great with children, I came last time with my 9 year old daughter in 2014 and she was delighted with the care and kindness the staff showed her. The manager presented us with a lovely gift on departure too. Highly recommended!
Service is superb”
The Oriental Central Hotel is centrally located in Old Quarter, walking distance to many shops and eateries, Hoan Kiem Lake and French Quarter. The rooms are small and some are windowless but the trade off is outstanding service from the bell hops, reception desk, housekeeping and restaurant staff. We are glad to have stayed at this hotel.
Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff”
We stayed two nights in Hanoi as part of a 21 day trip across Vietnam. We stayed at the Oriental Central Hotel during our visit in Hanoi and used this location as a base camp for our Halong Bay cruise... The rooms were clean and the hotel staff friendly and helpful. They suggested us restaurants for dinner, arranged for our transfer to the airport and made arrangements several other arrangements for us... The breakfast was fabulous.... Only good things to say about this hotel!
