Experienced Backpacker: The Best Hostel I Have Ever Been To”

In Summary: Staff: Some of the friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever met. They would always help to accommodate whatever needs I had and provided everything with a great smile. They felt like family. Facilities: Beds, bathrooms and common areas were all very clean. Location: Centrally located, less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and many of the scuba diving businesses Extras: They provided great free continental breakfast with fresh bread, oatmeal, fresh watermelon, mango jam, and PEANUT Butter!!!! They also had a free spaghetti dinner for all the guests once a week. In detail: The OMP staff is the best feature of this hostel! Let me count the ways: 1) We had rented a kayak from OMP to go camping for a couple of nights. On our way back to the mainland we had capsized and all of our gear got soaked. Rolly, the manager, was very understanding and allowed us to use their facilities to wash all of our clothes and hang them dry. 2) Joel is the nice guy stationed at the registration desk. Every day that I had passed by him he would teach me new words in Tagalog. On our last day at OMP, my friend and I were rushing to leave for Puerto Princesa, so we didn't have time to book a hostel or reserve a van. Joel was more than happy to help call different hostels and get us a ride there. 3) Brando took my friend and I out on his fishing boat and taught us how to fish! We caught a few small ones, cooked them at his house, and ate a delicious lunch together. 4) Rose made pancakes and fried eggs for breakfast one morning for all the guests! I have never been to a hostel with such great free food. 5) Ann is the tour organizer and she gave us great suggestions as to where to find good campsites on the islands surrounding El Nido. 6) Even though he was exhausting from working the overnight shift, Mike took us on a trip to Nacpan beach and showed us another beautiful part of El Nido. 7) Sam brought our kayak to the beach and made sure we were all set with ou

          Recommend!”

This place was a refreshing change from El Nido which generally is an embarrassment to the eco tourism industry. Our Melting Pot restored my faith in the locals though! The staff are helpful with anything you might need, the rooms are comfortable and very clean, and the light breakfast is nothing to complain about. Will stay here again if I'm back, best value place I could find in El Nido.

          Amazing”

Great staff. Clean rooms . Privacy curtain. Reliable internet. Common area on second and third floors. Accessible to all cheap eateries and good in downtown. Corong corong area is overpriced . Five minute walk from the dock where you catch alll tours. Close to free shuttle.to Lio Beach. Las cabanas back can be gotten to by trike for 50-100. Depends on how good you are at negotiating. Street food for very cheap just outside the hostel. The main night club is five minute walk away for night life. Hostel provides reliable wifi and reliable AC. Free breakfast . Curtains on your bed for privacy. The staff is very nice and helpful. I had an amazing stay . Competitor hostels down at corong corong are over priced for eating and drinking etc. Better to stay at melting pot if you don't want your wallet to get hit. Cheers.

The main reason you'll love Our Melting Pot is that it's geared towards talking with other people and just enjoying each others company and having fun!! The beds are comfortable, the breakfast good and satisfying and the staff always ready to help. Definitely a prime spot to stay in El Nido at the hub of all the activity

          Great place to meet people”

I had a wonderful 5 days in el nido, all thanks to OMP hostel. Its a great place to make friends and socialise. Staff is friendly and will help you arrange activities/tours. They also organise island tours which is by far the best I've had over my 3 visits to el nido in terms of price and service. I strongly siggest you book the island tours with OMP. The hostel is small but very tidy especially the showers and toilet. Linens are nice. Breakfast is simple but decent. They have activities at night like beer pong, pasta night, karaoke night etc. perfect for solo travellers.

Short stay with maximum value, cant wait to return”

Staff was helpful, knowledgeable. Guests were tremendous. Place was clean. All good.

I loved it. I was only there for two nights but had a wonderful time. This is one of the best-rated hostels not just in Palawan but in the country for a reason. It really captures the backpacker culture with its 5-star staff accommodating you every step of the way from your tours to basic help with services and directions in and out of town, and the cool activities like Balut challenge and beer pong. I met some wonderful people here (about 80% European) and we had a great time hanging out. The place is also very clean, breakfast is fine, and the location is central. I would love to come back very soon. Thank you for being my home on my first trip to El Nido.

Nice hostel with nice staff in noisy and dirty El Nido”

The hostel is fine, staff is cleaning all the time, very good breakfast. Be careful when showering and brushing your teeth. Local water is very dirty and many people got diarrhoea. Nobody warns me ahead. I stayed in a single room with fan which is very small but good for low price. Temperature was 28 degrees C inside. There is only one such room and one with AC so book well ahead. El Nido is good only like a base for great day trips and for evening meals. Otherwise it is far away from paradise. I felt much better in Port Barton afterwards (also better and cheaper snorkeling tours there). Tricycles in narrow streets are terrible. For similar scenery it is probably better to go to Coron.

          "Me" time in El Nido”

I arrived in El Nido in loneliness. I have a personal errand during that time. When the hostel staffs (Rose and Elvie) noticed me, they find time to talk to me and cheer me up. OMP is very luck to have employees like them. They know how to connect to guests' emotions. The hostel experience really made my stay in El Nido very special and memorable. See you soon!

          Truly a "melting pot."”

I had a great time staying in this hostel. No regrets on booking an acccomodation like this. You get to meet people from different parts of the world with different culture, eating breakfast everyday which is for free BTW, having dinner together after a day's tour. No wonder I extended my stay for 2 more nights. To the friendly staff, Elvie, Mary, Rose and all the others, thank you! Keep on watching those who are making "milagro" inside their rooms. Haha. Kidding! I never felt so alone in my 6-day stay at El Nido! Cheers! 😅

Absolute MUST for backpackers looking to have a great time and make friends”

Me and my friend changed our reservation last minute to OMP, and we were SO GLAD we did. This place is filled with 20-something-year-old backpackers looking to make friends and hang out. There are multiple opportunities to socialize in the upstairs common room, whether that be karaoke, food, or a pregame to the Pukka bar. The staff is so helpful, accommodating, kind, and books phenomenal island hopping trips where you can get to know other travelers in OMP even better. Our trip in El Nido was phenomenal, and so much of that is due to the the opportunities OMP gave us.

          Wonderful Stay!”

          Staff, location and cleanliness

I really enjoyed myself at the hostel,I stayed in the single room with fan and it was a bit small but no one really spends time in the room when you have so much to do in El Nido! Staff were amazing, very hardworking, friendly and kept the premises extremely clean! One time I woke up at 4am to use the bathroom and they were sweeping the floor of sand! They were really good with arranging tours and van/bus rides. I would stay there again if I go back!

What an awesome place to stay!!!”

OMP is by far the best hostel I have stayed in in the Philippines! Everything from the staff, to the wifi, from cleanliness to hot showers and from bfast to people staying at the hostel was simply incredible! I had a great time and if I was to come to El Nido again, there's no doubt I would go for this hostel again and again! Thank you!!!

          Excellent”

Overall liked my stay. I thought the amenities were solid for where we were. The showers were usually clean except one day. They provide you with a beach towel. The WiFi was pretty bad but service is awful everywhere on the island - it was good enough to send texts and check email. Free breakfast before 10 was decent! You can book your tours through the hostel which is convenient and they give you a towel during your trips. Overall, I think it offered the bare minimum you needed but it was good enough and better than what most offer in El Nido! The staff was also great - very helpful with whatever you needed.

          Good for the basics”

Good place to stay overall. Affordable and nice hostel in El Nido town. Close to everything, and still you get a good nights sleep. Not a party hostel, but good social areas. Wifi was very slow, but that's all of Palawan. Free drinking water and breakfast, which wasn't much, but alright. Would stay again.

          Staff, atmosphere, location

Had a great stay. The hostel is in an awesome location. Has a great atmosphere, found some new friends in the hostel relatively quickly to explore El Nido with. The staff is awesome, friendly, and helpful. If you stay at OMP, go be best friends with Jayson. Good facilities, awesome time.

          Very good”

You can ask for much in El Nido for this price. Keep in mind you're in a Hostel. In Phillipines. The location is great, good atsmothere and for the context its clean. I had a private single room with fan on the ground floor and it can be noisy but it didn't bother me... shared bathroom with hot water wasn't as bad as I expected. This place gives you a bed and a shower after a long day exploring the beautiful El Nido. If you want a place to rest comfortably during the day it might be not the best choice.

Great staff, good central location, big breakfast

I had a great time there, the staff is very helpful in providing information on what to do and the location of the place is also great. Since it's a new hostel I'm sure it will still attract a lot of positive feedback if it continues this way. I would go back there on my next visit to El Nido.

          Central location in El Nido”

          Location, cleanliness and breakfast

I stayed in a single room with AC for 8 nights. The room is small, not much more than the bed, but you get your privacy and also an AC that you can regulate according to your preference. Toilets and shower room are clean, and are getting cleaned several time a day. The breakfast gives you some food to get your going till lunch, my favourite was porridge with some banana on, good and healthy breakfast with some coffee. The single AC room is close to the street, very close, so at daytime it is noisy, but you are not suppose to spend a lot of time in your room during the day, and between 23:00 and 06.00 it is pretty quite, still I recommend you to have some earplugs, they might come in handy. Socially, it is a good place to meet people to hang out with. If I go back to El Nido, I will most likely stay in "my" room at OMP again.

          A classic hostel”

Great location in El Nido. Friendly helpful staff. Great free breakfast in the mornings! Spaghetti dinner for guests free once a week. Drinking by guests after hours can get a little loud. I just put in earplugs. This is really a great Hostel experience!
