Great place if you want peace and quiet, and a jungle feel. Staff were great and super helpful in arranging tours and transportation. Food was just so-so but adequate enough.
not helpful staff ”
we stayed there for one night, the room is rather dusty.A gecko(some sort of big lizard) went into our room,so we asked the staff there for help to get rid of it but she refused to help us.Towel, water and toilet paper was not provided initially so we requested at the counter and eventually was charged for extra rm3 for that.Altho its just rm3 but why wasnt we informed about the charges in the first place? As a local here i have been to a few sepilok resort nearby, although this is the cheapest resort but this is the worst.I guess we wont be coming to this place again.
Fantastic lodge style accomodation”
Great place. Clean. Yummy food. Cold beers! Lovely people staying and running it. Great communal atmosphere. Close to wildlife parks. Bit tricky to find in a car but most people dropped off and picked up. Great views and jungle noises. Cant go wrong!
Lovely setting. Yummy food. Rural views. Air con . Great people . Clean beds. Comfortable pillows. Loved it!
I had a very good time here! Rose is very sweet and the other staff is nice too.I had some food there and it was tasting good! The dorms are huge.Very basic but comfortable and cozy. There are lockers and mosquito nets.Immerse yourself in the nature in this peaceful place in Sepilok. There are enough bathrooms and showers, nice terrace to sunbathe and hammocks to relax. A free shuttle will bring you to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center (if you get the morning one you will have time to see the Sun Bears and the Forest Discovery Center as well). Also, they can arrange a car for the Proboscis Monkeys Sanctuary at 45rym (min 2 pax),that is perfect! As you will really need one to move from the entrance to the feeding platforms :)
Love the balcony and open air shower room”
Perfect for couple who enjoys nature and serenity. Private balcony and open air shower room are facing the jungle and river. It may look a bit run down from the main entrance but overall, the chalets are still pretty well maintained. However, it's a bit isolated from the city, not accessible to restaurants or convenient stores unless you travel by car/taxi/free shuttle service provided by the retreat (they do serve food at retreat, with limited variety of food). If short trekking trails are available at the jungle where the retreat is located at, it'll be even better! Staffs were helpful too. Overall, great stay!
Near to nature”
This place is located in the middle of jungle. So, you will habe the experience of staying very close to nature. The food is also very nice and reasonable.
When we first arrived we were a it worried as first impressions were that the place looked a little run down from the driveway entrance. However it really has charm, rooms are rustic but have great appeal, staff are also great.
Lovely relaxing place”
A great stay here, so quiet and peaceful. Definitely not a walkable distance from the bus stop, but their free shuttle bus takes you to the orangutans and picks you up again so that makes life very easy. Bedroom was quiet, loved the "outdoor" bathroom. Food was good with a different menu each night of the week. Staff really helpful and they booked us on a great 3D/2N trip to Kinabatangan river which was probably the cheapest option we saw but amazing place. They even helped organised a cake for my girlfriend's birthday (on my request by email) which was lovely. Great hammocks to relax in as well. Recommended.
Very quiet ”
May be it was slow season when i was there but I think theres only two chalets occupied, making it very quiet, its almost scary. The retreat is in the jungle, a little hard to get to as the road isnt very good. When breakfast time, we have to wait for almost an hour for the staffs to wake up to serve us. We almost give up, wanted to leave but we cant leave as we hadnt pay our stay, being a good citizen, LOL.
The food was very good and affordable. Would be nice if they cleaned the rooms at least every second day.
Great place for retreat”
Good place to escape from noise of big city but the place. Open shower give a wonderful feeling overlooking the jungle. A little bit off from the main road and do arrive before dark as new road hotel has no clear sign post and not properly lit.
Nice if you want to enjoy staying amidst nature. The only aspect that put me off was the park /recreational facility that we have to go through. That was a bit of a surprise. The hotel itself is nice. Ione was very friendly, professional and pleasant to deal with.
For this price, great deal ”
We booked this for New Years Eve 2015 > 2016 . We liked the location as we rented motorbikes and we could easily get everywhere on the island. We loved the fact there was a swimmig pool and that is was so green. Off course for this very low price, you can not expect it's a 5 star resort. I would say it's just as good as a youth hostel and as that's what we normally do, it was perfect for us. Some rooms are in a better condition than others so if you're doubting some stuff in your room/chalet, just ask staff if you can look at another one. They obviously need to redo the whole place, but we had a great time nonetheless and had the pool to ourselves January 1st. Great way to start the new year ;-)
Very basic rooms. At the top of a ridge and the rooms have large sliding doors that make it feel like a tree house. Open air bath and shower. Hammocks in the shade under the bungalows. Crisp white sheets. Fan and a/c. Two bottles of water the first day. Food ok and inexpensive. Breakfast is included and is minimal. Free shuttle to Semilok attractions. Wifi is terrible and only in lobby/dining room. Toilet seat broken and mirror is filthy. Bring mosquito repellent! You might have little visitors in the night.
A great retreat”
This is a great place to stay when visiting the various Sepilok attractions. Lodge style accommodation in a beautiful setting. Our room had a balcony looking out over the forest. A really romantic setting! Regular free shuttles to Sepilok, and the staff go out of their way to ensure your stay goes smoothly. All in all, a really good place to stay.
Great setting but bad staff”
The setting is really beautfiul. There is a convenient shuttle that takes you for free to attractions in Sepilok. Staff were useless at times. NO ATMS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH CASH!
Relaxed and Comfortable”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Paganakan Dii. The bathroom was a favorite with everyone. We had a stunning view of the local wildlife in a semi-open air bathroom. While it was still very much private, you could see and hear the birds and other wildlife in the area. The rooms are family friendly with beds for everyone. Our kids loved the bunk beds. The property and staff have a very laid back feel. The staff were very informative and were able to provide us with transport to the Organgutan Sanctuary and organized taxis for our other excursions.
Pleine nature ”
