Decent place but don't trust the internet!”
Decent room and place. However, when we booked it, it said "breakfast available" and "laundry service" which they don't have. They asked us to go somewhere else which is also ok, but not what it said on Agodas webpage. Rooms ok. The aircon was VERY noisy. Nice staff.
Second time here. As always, Ate Dianne and her staff Jane made our stay comfortable. She arranged our tours and you can contact her directly for inquiries. Location is near eateries and bars for some booze. Will definitely go back next Summer.
Location & value for money”
Nice location and comfortable stay. Room size is ok and it's clean. The toilet is also clean, just the drainer a bit clogged. The breakfast is good for 100 pesos. Over-all stay was satisfied for a low price.
Great Location, Convenience, Informative Staff”
Decent stay, we experienced brownout 1 day, and the hotel have generator open from evening. It doesn't make us feel bad at all. The hotel located near fresh market so we can check our Signature fish Danggit in the morning easy, and for dinner we able to find the recommended restaurant just walking distance. Not to much noisy since it behind of the shop. Good sleep. Open roof deck for view and hanging wet cloth.
Cozy hotel right smack in the middle of town”
The best thing about Palanca is the location. The hotel is located just next to the Market, Pier and Tourism Centre. Directly opposite is a bakery and you can pick up breakfast and snacks easily. If you're doing a lot of sea activities and have many things to dry (i.e. scuba equipment), request for the rooms closest to the balcony. Although a shared balcony, it seemed pretty safe leaving our stuff out to dry. The hotel staff also took the initiative to arrange an airport pick up for us even though we weren't aware of this (it wasn't stated in Agoda). One minor down side. The rooms are really small. With 2 large suitcases, there was hardly room to move about. We had to step over the luggages to get around the room. All in all, i'd recommend this hotel.
Budget accommodation, close to everything”
Palanca Guest House is close to the centre of Coron Town but on the quieter side of the main intersection. It's not luxurious by any means - basic room with air con, cold water supplied from big bottle outside the room, small bathroom that could do with a revamp, no fridge... but the place actually grew on me after a few days, not least because it was so convenient to bet back to after long days out on the dive boats or tour boats (whereas the others faced a hot tricycle ride to their accommodation, I was just a few minutes walk to my shower). There is a tiny food hall directly opposite where you can buy frappes, noodles, shwarma etc or it's a five minute walk to the main street where there are many restaurants, some massage places, loads of dive and scuba shops and places where you can buy souvenirs/beach shoes/flipflops/hats/sunscreen etc.
Worst hotel I've stayed in! ”
CONS We booked the standard room, first day in and I find out that they put us in the only room that has no has no hot water, so I asked to be moved room. The next room they put us in suffered from terrible noise from the road outside which I was OK with but I then I found that the room consistently had ants in it. I was consistently going up for bug spray. The final straw was when I went to pack my bag and there was a swarm of ants under my bag and on my clothes! I was so annoyed at this and it didn't seem to be a big deal to the staff which was even more annoying! I feel the rooms are in need of referbish, the food is nothing special, and the WiFi well good luck with that because it is non existent. Over all would not recommend this hotel.
Good value and comfortable rooms.”
We had a great time in Coron staying at Palanca Guest House. Pros: hot water shower, location near the market, efficient and organized booking of our islands hopping tours and airport transfers. Cons: higher prices for tour packages compared to booking at tour shops in town.
Bathroom is way too dirty.”
Pros: extremely helpful hotel owners, great breakfast, fantastic location. Cons: Location is noisy, either facing the streets or guess' breakfast area. Unless you get a bigger room at the back of the property. Bathroom was filled with mildew and black spots. On my third night, I couldn't stand it anymore, I cleaned up the bathroom. It clogs easily as well.
the staff were friendly and helpful. we rented snorkel equipment which had problems and they refunded out money no questions asked. organized timely transport to the airport for us. there were 4 of us staying together which can be hard to accomadate but they found a room suitable for us. it was quiet and cute with its different split levels. right in the center of town. front door is locked at night, you have a key to get in should you need to
Excellent location ”
Location is excellent, in the middle of village centre. Staff at Palanca is friendly and helpful. They cut open coconuts for us all the time. Our room was not facing the street do it was quiet, we slept well. The only thing we didn't like so much was in our room there was not hot shower so we had to get used to cold ones -not a big issue since it was quite hot in there.
Stay was ok”
The first night was alittle tough because the room was small and the bathroom had ants and mosquitoes every where. The shower you had to use a screwdriver to turn on the water. We upgraded to a bigger room for the remainder of our stay and it was much much better. There was even hot shower and no ants or hardly any mosquitoes. Overall the stay was great because of the location and the staff was very friendly and booked all our travels. The morning breakfast was ok, but the wifi was really really slow. You sometimes had to wait until everyone went to sleep to use the wifi or go to the common area.
Humble tidy hotel in a humble town”
The room is clean and tidy, linens smell nice. The receptionist welcomed us with a welcome drink upon check-in and it was a lovely fresh mango juice. The staff is helpful how to get around Coron town, where to dine or hire a motorbike. Considering the hotel is located in a market place, we hardly hear noise. No issues with wifi connection. We consider getting this same hotel when we come back to Coron.
since this is my first time to travel solo it is important for me to have someone to ask for information about the island and safety of my things. The Guest House's staffs are very accommodating and friendly specially Ms Dianne (family owner). They have good answers to everything i asked. Location is the best, it is near to everything. I feel very important and it completes my awesome and overwhelming stay in Coron. if given a chance to go back, i will definitely choose Palanca Guest House still.
Palanca Guest House”
Palanca Guest House is a little gem nested in main Coron street. Its locally owned and owners are warm welcoming people that will look after you and help you with any and all inquiries. Rooms are clean and beautifully furnished with touch of art and well look after. Should we ever visit Coron for some more great wreck diving ;) this will be our place.
Clean and comfortable”
Stay was great. Simple rooms with A/C, wifi, and TV's. It's close to everything, the town is small. They can make any arrangement from the hotel. It is not luxury, but it is a great value for the price.
Our stay at palanca guest house is superb”
Our stay at Palanca guest house turned out to be really great.there was no faults regarding their service, friendly staff, good location, great service and Ms.Dianne is really accomodating and make it appoint to arrange our daily needs and tours.thank u so much
Very nice little hotel”
If your on a budget I really recommend this hotel. The staff are all nice, it's a safe place and everything seemed to work and it's a central location in Coron town. The only negative was when I turned on the bathroom fan all the pollution came in.
We stayed in the "Eugene" room, it was very small inside, but we didnt spend too much time in the room, so it was sufficient for our needs. The air-con in the room was amazing, and the room is right off the reception area, and close to the wifi, so we didnt have to leave our room to have decent internet speeds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only irritating thing, was when guests arrived in the reception area, and nobody was there to help them, they would ring the bell a few times, and it was very loud for us - that was the only negative.
Great value for money. Definitely recommended!”
Palanca guests house looks like an ordinary bldg from the street but once you entered their gate, you'll be surprised to see a very homey place to stay. they have this pocket garden and pleasant lobby/open dinning area. The staff are friendly. They also have wi-fi. Though slow in our room, so we need to go out in lobby if we want to go online. The deluxe room is large enough, the room looks and smells clean. The bathroom is a bit small, but it is very clean as well. They have TV, though we did not used it. They also offer delicious Filipino breakfast at a very affordable price. Will definitely stay here should I visit Coron again.
