Great location, nice rooms, ok service”

Location, beach, room size

Our family of 7 was supposed to be picked up at 4:00 AM from the airport after traveling 23 hours from the states. The hotel forgot and weren't helpful until a local called for us. Even though our rooms were vacant, we couldn't check in until 2:00 OR pay the rack rate plus 17%. Staff was friendly but not accommodating. Hotel food was expensive and ok. Be aware of all the hidden conservation and service fees on Palau!! $50 US per person to leave the island. $100 US per person to visit Jellyfish Lake added to your excursion charges. If you know what to expect, it's easier to deal with the added expense. Beautiful island with tons of incredible scenery. I would stay at this hotel again as it appears to be one of the nicest in Koror

Nice hotel with great surroundings and staff”

Palau Royal resort was a well managed hotel but like all higher end hotels in Palau it came at a cost. Staff were always happy to help out and polite when approached, I really like the hotel grounds, well landscaped, a nice private beach and swimming pool. The buffet breakfast spread was good and foods changed for different times of the week. My room was well maintained, had a comfortable bed and was spacious. One let down was that I thought house keeping didn't clean it to a standard I would of expected. Over all a very good stay.

Great Place to Stay”

Beach access/ roomes/ service

Rooms were great with balconies overlooking the sea. Private beach was a very pleasant way to end the day (note beaches are not common). Service was first rate. Very positive experience. Can't comment on dining as eat out every night (easy to do due to good location). Walking distance to Sam's dive shop. Palau is expensive. If you're spending lots to get here and lots more to dive then splash out on a good hotel. This is it.

Not so regal”

A strange place overall - mostly frequented by Japanese honeymooners and some divers. Managed by the Japanese means there are more rules than common sense. You'll be charged according to complicated formulas for every little extra - not only for the rather costly Internet access but even for one hour late check-out when the hotel isn't fully booked at all or for a 200 metre drop-off by the hotel shuttle when it rains cats and dogs whilst most, much less expensive, hotels and restaurants in tiny Koror offer free Internet and transport shuttles. The beach is artificial and super small - the picture is very misleading. Staff is friendly and very laid back. The food at the restaurant can not be recommended but there are quite some nearby options hence that's fine. On the upside the rooms are big and not too bad. Overall more of a four star property than five star. Wouldn't return.

Comfortable hotel, food poor”

Rooms spacious and comfortable, hotel grounds lovely, pool etc looked good. Transfer from the airport worked well. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the quality of the food it serves. Tuna sashimi was great, but other offerings and breakfast buffet very disappointing. Great cocktail bar however. All hotels in Palau are expensive, but this is reasonable value for money. Feel the heated toilet seat probably unnecessary in those temps!

Good stay, private beach area small”

Private beach area is not as large as photoed. Swimming area is confined to the smallish lagoon (you can't go out into open water). Upside is that there are still fish to look at in the lagoon. No free wifi. Excellent staff with good English.

Not a 5 Star Resort Hotel”

This Resort Hotel was not 5 Star as Agoda and the Resort Hotel is advertising. The gym had no Air conditioning with only 5 pieces of equipment and one treadmill was broken. The pool and the lagoon area have limited access hours of 7am to 7pm which closing time is extremely early (most resorts close their pools no earlier than 10pm. No WiFI unless you pay extra and at $226 a night it should be included for free.

Not 5 star. More like 2.5-3 star”

Location

Only thing good was the location since next to neco marine where we did our diving. The room we were in was terrible, old, and worn down. This is not a 5 start hotel and could not wait to get out of the room. The Filipino staff was good but management . I really felt I was totally ripped off after my stay. The food was also terrible but breakfast came with the room. The prices for dinner was insulting. Go next door to kramers where you will get a 5 star meal. I will be going back to palau for diving in a few months. I will not be staying at this hotel. Very disappointed
