Good quiet base to do island day trips, canoeing and other adventures”
Sandcastles is a place far of civilization, traffic, noise and air polution. Quiet and calm. Perfect to forget about your hectic daily life. It’s basic, but you‘ll have everything you need. The employees are very friendly and caring. You can get dinner, lunch and breakfast if you ask for it. The food is really good, but for lunch and dinner it’s just one daily thing and nothing else to choose from. But it’s a lot and it was always very delicious local food. The beach next to the accommodations is not that good for swimming, but you can take a boat to very beautiful lonely islands or a canoe to explore the amazing area on the water. You can do snorkeling in healthy coral riffs. We saw sharks, baracudas, clown fishes, baloon fishes and lots of other amazing paradise fishes. It’s a fantastic world to explore there under water! Like on many other accommodations on philippines, I recommend to bring your own mosquito mesh!

Discover Tranquility”
My stay at Sandcastles was great! Loved everything. If you are expecting a typical resort: swimming pools, loud packed bars, gift shops, this is not it. But if you are looking to truly get away from it all, this is the place to be. Be reasonable, you are at a resort in the Philippines, you will have uninvited guests...mosquito net over the bed. Kayaking is a surprisingly offered activity.

Thanks for appreciating our little piece of paradise. It's not for everyone -- in fact only for a few. That's the challenge, and thanks for being among that number.
Beautiful place with deficits ”
We arrived by motorbike. The road to the place is quite tough with scooter. The place itself is beautiful - the beach houses are really, really nice with AC, but it was not really clean when we arrived. They have wi-fi which works quite okay. The guys there cooked good food, but you had to tell them early enough. Price for food was good. Another negative thing: they didn't have drinkable water there for us. We had to take it from stores or the resort 5 minutes walk down the beach. We often went to the resort closeby - which we very happy about. They provided food, water, pool. But in total we enjoyed our stay there!

Hi Pascal, Sorry to get to respond so late. Didn't know how till now. Glad you liked your airconditioned beach house. You might be happy to know the road is nearly completely concreted from Coron town. On water, we took a stand when we started NOT to sell water in plastic bottles and instead off free of charge filtered pure spring water. That was available when you were there. Sorry if the team did not make it clear to you.
Enjoy breakfast for 800 pesos per person”
The room rate is very reasonable but we had many issues with our bathroom. We stayed in room overlooking sea. Shower (cold plus shower head broken), basin (hole in basin) and bath (only cold water) did not work. The manager was very apologetic, but they’ve known about the problem for months and haven’t fixed it. They offered to switch room on second night but it was so much hassle to move after tours etc. I know it’s not a luxury resort, but make simple things work. Any Breakfast is 800 pesos p/p. Go eat at Cashew Grove next door. Breakfast is overpriced, and there’s no menu, so you don’t know what you’re being charged before you check out. A good breakfast in coron costs 250-300 pesos. 800 pesos for 4 slices white toast, 1 coffee plus 1 canned juice just makes me feel bitter. On the plus side, the owner & manager are very nice.

Hi Luca and thanks for taking time out to review SandCastles. I'm abroad right now but I've asked Lerma to check your billing to ascertain more about how much you were charged for breakfast and what was included. We're now offering free continental breakfast and if guests wanted a cooked breakfast or muesli and fruit it will cost 200 pesos. That brings the value of a full breakfast to 400 pesos. That was the listed cost during your stay. Lerma will check if there was a mistake, some funny business by a member of staff or it was the price for two persons. However, the breakfast you got was not what I instruct to be offered: Juice must be fresh! I'm truly sorry if we did not do what we're supposed to. I suspect it was the work of our short-lived manager, the one you said was very nice. Cheers, Greg
Such a trash can should never go”
This is not the Palawan Sandcastles The Beach House. It's a Palawan Sand Animal Farm. The beach is full of dog and goat poop. There are no restaurants around. We have no choice but to eat the food sold in the beach house. But it costs 700 peso and is small and tasteless. The owners and employees are unkind, rude, and lazy. Accommodation is expensive, but bed and bathroom are dirty. You can't see the sun at sunrise. Go blind and take the money away. Such a trash can 化should never go.

Appreciate you taking time out to write about SandCastles and sorry the experience was not what you expected. We have been working on better communicating what we are and what we are not to avoid such disappointment for guests--or would be guests--in future

It’s a fantastic place but it needs more maintenance. The location is wonderful!. The staff is great.

Sorry, Michael, you were so disappointed with your experience at SandCastles. I looked into your case and realised it coincided with a period when we had a new manager--who turned out to be very short-lived. She did not pay proper attention to the accommodation and she reversed what we're so proud of -- our food -- always, fresh, locally sourced, with great choice AND being great value. She was old school like many in the resort business--not subscribing to our homey regime. Yes, that is not for everyone, but we're super proud of our food. Many of our reviews reflect the quality of our food. Sorry you had a bad experience. Not sure what you meant about rubbish, but the place looks spick and span now. As far as the beach is concerned there are times when the tide is out and guests need to be content with snorkeling our wondrous drop-off. Hardly a hardship!

Superb”
Zeer goed verblijf gehad.

You might not appreciate but we spend as much time talking people out of staying at SandCastles as talking them into it. It all depends upon whether guests are comfortable with a resort that does not feel like a resort, where the team is like a family not staff. Sorry, again, you were disappointed.

people there is nice but very expensive pick up like 2000p for airport and 2500 to the town. They don’t have change as well. Not much to see. Only there for diving and wasn’t that good.

Thanks for your observations. The prices you quote are for private and exclusive car and van transfers. For guests already checked in to SandCastles doing day tours with our sister company Tribal Adventures the two-way cost to Coron town is only 1,500 pesos per person. Since staying with us, your diver operator has now moved shop to SandCastles, so the diving experience is even better for guests today!
