Ok if you can't afford anything else”
Pros: Cheaper, somewhat private Cons: Shared apartment with tiny private sublets that have thin drywall that pass sound like paper, too far out from metropolitan Tokyo, no pots or pans or knives to cook with even though there is an induction cooktop and sink, the bunk bed is on top of a desk/dresser you climb with a hard steel ladder with thin rungs that will hurt your feet unless you wear slippers

Love the surrounding environment.. ”
For a solo traveler like me. This place was really good. My room got enough power points for my electronic charging needs. There a kitchen with all the utensils you need if you wan to save money and cook yourself. Shower room was shared with I think 3 other tenants if they were around but it was not an issue. Clean towel for your bathing needs was available daily. That was a plus. Location wise.. it was close to the Takashimadaira station. Less than 5 minutes walk to be exact. Supermarkets were nearby and there was a Daiso 5 minutes away from the hostel. Conbinis and restaurants aplenty for your daily needs and if you fancy McDonalds.. there was one located nearby.. But Takashimadaira was quite far away from the Central Tokyo area as a 20 minutes Mita Line train ride was required to reach Sugamo station but to me it was not really a deal breaker cos you at the most will only use it to go out and return back at night only. Overall. I enjoyed my few nights stay there.

Very good”
From the takashimadaira stn. (mita line) need to change line for JR or other metro line to reach your destination. Others, it has two 7 eleven, convenient shops. I stayed at single room the room quite spacious. Kitchenette for light cooking or heating.

The room was just nice and near the station. Everything was just good except the checkin procedure. Booked through agoda but the owner didnt write our name on the whiteboard to get the checkin key. Cant manage to contact them, just wait until they appear to check m.

A short walk from Tokyo Subway & 4 convenient stores”
The place was good as a place to sleep and to access the subway but that was all. You get your own toilet attached to your room but the bathroom is shared. The mattress provided is quite thin but I didn't encounter any bed bugs. Food is readily available in the area. The station closest to it is Takashimadaira station which is actually about 30-40 minutes away from central Tokyo so consider that when booking.

Definitely wouldn't stay here again.”
While very cheap, this hotel was really disappointing, even for the standards for accommodation in the price range. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and there were multiple bugs. The front desk is only open for limited hours during the day, so getting a hold of staff is very difficult.

The price and the place is good, but its far from the city centre”
Because it was far from the city centre, teh cost of using public transport was high.

convenient”
It is convenient to walk a few minutes from the Takashimadaira local station, not from the Tokyo main district. I liked a toilet in each female and male dorm. The bathroom and the kitchen are shared. My friend and I enjoyed talking with staff there, who were very kind and friendly.

good place for sleeping only”
very small area, can hardly expand the suitcase, so not recommend to stay there if u wish to pack ur suitcase. but enough for only sleeping. many shops nearby, can be accessed easily (just walk straight from takajimadaira station), but it takes long time to go to the station by train

Just a few minutes walk from Takashimadaira station. Close to convenient stores like 7/11 and Lawson. Not so bad for the price you pay.

Decent but would probably pick something closer next time ”
The hostel is basically a couple of small apartment units converted. It's out of town, about 40 minutes from Tokyo station. You need to take the JR line and change to the subway to get there. The facilities are ok. The room I stayed in was cold, the heat seemed to be defective or something. The little kitchen area was kind of crowded because each room in the two bedroom apartment held 5-6 people each. The little stove was rusted. There was a toilet for each room but only only shower for the apartment unit. Wasn't a problem for me though. I never saw the staff at all. The hours for the reception were 10-6, which were way too short for me. I arrived, saw my name on a note on the door saying my room number and the location of the key, and went to my bed. I checked out by putting the key in the same spot when leaving. Okay experience, but out of the way, and for someone looking to do a lot, I would not recommend it.

Extremely small rooms and not clean”
The place is very small and run down. The place looks like a block of flats. It is practically the opposite of what is shown in the pictures. The rooms are extremely small. There is no space to put any luggage and then move around. All the floors and common areas are dirty. There is even a broken window in the kitchen which looks unsafe. Overall not a very nice place to stay. I would not recommend it.

loud, smelly, uncomfortable”
I had a very unpleasant two night stay here. The location is very peaceful and easy to get to from the subway but very far from center city. upon arrive (late), they didnt have my name listed for check in that day. No one was at the guesthouse at 11pm. there were instructions for the late comers and also a key assigned to each name, but my name wasnt there. after getting help from a stranger i was able to call the owners to get someones help. 30 minutes later someone showed up and was just as confused as i was. I finally got into one of the dorms- which smelled like sweaty trash. The shower was clean but lacked privacy. the toilet room was situated in the dorm room but the walls had no closing bottom or top to the bathroom so all loud noises could be heard. ...THE WIFI IS AWFUL. please don't think u can get wifi here to help you along your journey.
