Palm Grass Hotel, the only heritage hotel in Cebu, offers a unique approach to hospitality. It doesn't simply provide guests with a bed and a place to stay, but it brings them Cebu's history and culture. The seven-storey green hotel gives you the blueprint of Cebu's revolutionary history in the Spanish period - a unique blend of experience as we travel back in time when our heroes offered their lives for the freedom that is being enjoyed today. Preservation of the Cebu cultural heritage and loving mother earth are the hotel's major advocacies. The hotel is named after a local weed and herbal plant, known as agusias or asahas, which grows on barren and unused lands. Just like the humble palm grass, resilient and persistently growing in abundance despite harsh conditions, the hotel aims to become a staunch advocate for the preservation of the Cebuano cultural heritage.

Hospitality to a T”
My family had a wonderful time here. Although it is located in the old downtown area of Cebu City, with its share of ghastly tales, Palm Grass Hotel keeps it up with an effortless hospitality. It was so consistent; I just knew the staff were trained very well. This is their No 1 asset. As many reviews have pointed out, Palm Grass shares some history in its interiors and it was truly interesting to learn those snippets about Cebu. With moderate pricing, Palm Grass is a steal if you take up the breakfast option, which is a buffet with nice choices. It's one of the things my family enjoyed, along with the roofdeck bar and the sisig. Such a wonderful find in Cebu!
Outstanding Hotel Value in Cebu!”
Palm Grass is a unique hotel in all aspects of the Cebu hospitality scene: facilities, ambiance, room design, decor and furnishings, staff courtesy and helpfulness, location, price and connection to the heritage of the region. We were impressed with the room size and comfort, the variety and quality of the restaurant offerings (leaning heavily to native specialties), security services and staff attention to all details of our stay. In summary, it would be difficult for any traveler to find disappointment with a stay here, and we will certainly choose Palm Grass Hotel for all our future visits to Cebu.
Maayong Adlaw Michael! Thank you for staying at Cebu’s only heritage hotel. We are delighted that we managed to make your stay extraordinary and special with the goal of providing the Cebuano hospitality that preserves the local cultural heritage and the passion of preserving Mother Earth. See you soon. Alfon Arbule Front Office Supervisor
Comfy beds & amazing breakfast dishes!”
Stayed at this hotel on the 4th of September with my partner and had an amazing stay here. The staff were so helpful and friendly and accommodated to our needs immediately. We arrived about 10pm at the property and received a welcoming invite from the reception. Asked for ice from the room and the room service attended to us immediately. The room had a really comfortable bed and very clean bathroom. Perfect end to our trip in Cebu to get a comfortable rest before our flight back home. The free breakfast that came with our room was not a buffet spread but ala carte. However, the choices of food was amazing!. We had a Cebuana type of breakfast instead since when you are in the Philippines, why not right? Will definitely come back here again. Thank you Palm Grass Hotel!
Dear Amalina, Good Day! Thank you for taking the time to give a review. Your positive review is deeply valued and appreciated. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are looking forward to serving you again soon!
Value for Money”
We enjoyed our overnight stay with the hotel and wished we should have stayed more. It went beyond our expectation. We had a peaceful and relaxed sleep. Our only concern was the breakfast. They should have added other breakfast options/choices. Or something that is unique in Cebu. Location is quite good and near to other sites so transportation isn't a problem. All in all, we would definitely recommend staying at Palm Grass Hotel and given a chance, we'll be staying with them again.
Gem of a hotel in a rundown part of the city”
The Palm Grass was a pleasant surprise for me. The room is cozy but has character in the motif of the hotel's appreciation for Cebu history. Unfortunately it is trapped by its own history...the hotel is in the historic down-town area of the city. Despite the shopping, and multiple universities and school within a few blocks, the area outside of the hotel gets a little sketchy for foreign travelers after dark. And you will have to travel by taxi to enjoy the best of Cebu's famous cuisine. The bar on the roof is a great little meet and hang-out place. Very coolly designed. But they play their music a bit to loud to really chat.
Don't judge the hotel by its location:-)”
Palm Grass is located in Junquera St which actually has a "not-so-good" reputation so that's why I had initial thought of booking in this hotel. When I checked in, I was very surprised to see how clean and good the ambience was . The interior of my room was good, with some paintings on the wall and a glimpse of Cebu's history. There was a personal ref and an electric kettle inside too. However it would have been good if the hotel management also provide disposable slippers inside:-) Palm Grass Hotel is a good choice if one's itinerary includes going to Santo Nino Church, Fort San Pedro and neighbouring historical sites. It is just a walking distance to University of San Carlos , Cebu Normal University and University of the Visayas. It is accessible to public transport going to SM City, Ayala Center, Gaisano and many more. Lastly, they have a cafe just infront of the lobby which sells hot chocolate and other desserts at a reasonable price. I t's a good place to meet friends too.
Best Stay in Cebu City”
I was a little hesitant booking here based on the limited number of reviews, but I gave it a shot. And now it is my favorite place to stay in Cebu. The rooms are very nice, with a very good aircon, not too hot and not too cold. The restaurant downstairs is also now my favorite place to eat in Cebu, I found myself eating all 3 meals of the day there even though there are lots of other eating options nearby. The rooftop bar is very nice also, very lively and always things going on. Sometimes it can be a little loud in the rooms late into the night bc of the karoake, but I didn't mind that. Walking distance to Super Metro grocery. And most importantly for me the Wifi was excellent. Very strong and very fast. This is the hotel I will choose from now on anytime I need to stay in Cebu, such a great experience.
Great staff. very clean, nice rooms”
The staff at Grass Palm is fantastic. They go out of their way to help in every way possible. I truly enjoyed staying here for 5 nights with my girlfriend. The rooftop bar and plunge pool make you forget you are in the middle of a traffic choked city. I will stay here again on my next trip to Cebu.
Thank you for staying with us jude. Looking forward to serve you again.
the hotel is fare enough for value, the offer a buffet breakfast and the location is in the city which is 15 mins walking distance to museums and magellan cross and fort san pedro. the hotel has a mini museum too and roofdeck bar that you will see the beauty of cebu city at night with a dancing color jucuzzi and free kareoke if your brave to sing with people around the bar. the room is big and within a hotel standard bed. the only comment is they didnt provide complementary slippers. but overall 10 stars
I originally booked for 1 night but we liked it so much we ended up booking for 3 more nights. I don’t like searching for good hotels because you never know what you might get. That is why I stayed here. This place is very clean. Everybody that works here are always so nice and professional. They really work hard to make sure your always happy. My room was super cold and the WiFi is always really fast. The cable tv has all the good movie channels and all the rooms have a refrigerator. When they clean your room everyday they give you 2 bottles of water. The free breakfast buffet was very good and healthy. They always served fresh fruit and eggs and many more good things. The food and drink prices are very reasonable. I got a mango smoothie everyday for P85.00. Beer is p55.00 and my girlfriend always got a lunch plate for p999. I really can’t say anything bad about our stay especially for the price you pay stay here. When I come back to Cebu I am going to come back here. I give my stay a perfect score.
Maayong Adlaw Brent! Thank you for staying at Cebu’s only heritage hotel. We are happy that we managed to make your stay extraordinary and special with the goal of providing the Cebuano hospitality that preserves the local cultural heritage and the passion of preserving Mother Earth. Hope to serve you again. Alfon
Well worth a visit”
I am from the UK married to a Filipina for the past 30 years and most of our time is split between Manila and UK. This was my first visit to Cebu. I am interested in history and culture of the places i visit so the Palm Grass is a perfect fit. Its proximity to cultural sites is a bonus although the hotel is situated in a street that could benefit from some redevelopment. I will go with the good points first:-1. The room and wifi both excellent, basic as mentioned by other guests but what more do you need? 2.Staff are very good but having stayed in hotels throughout south east Asia, the staff are always courteous, helpful and efficient. 3 Roof top bar :- Great views of the city and excellent barman but sadly couldnt see the sunset because of a wall.On the down side i would say that holding breakfast on tables in the hotel lobby was not best location. The breakfast is excellent IF you are happy with Filipino food. I would stay there again in 2021.
Customer friendly staff”
Pros - Very very customer friendly staff. They also just went beyond their scope of work to help during a medical need. The restaurant staff were also very accommodating and they tried their best to customize to our requirement. The front desk staff were very cheerful and professional all the time. Very close to some of the attractions in the cebu city. Cons - The hotel location is more congested and is not very attractive as shown in the website. Water does not drain properly and clogs to the corner of the bath room. Overall their service overtakes the shortcomings and I will still prefer to comeback.
Affordable and Adorable Hotel”
We very much like the authentic feeling from the room decoration. Although it is a small boutique hotel, it is centrally located in the city and right next to the oldest street in Cebu where most of the sightseeing places are in walking distance. There are also eateries, mall and laundromat nearby. Our only regret was not staying here longer, instead of staying in multiple parts of Cebu throughout our 6 days trip.
Very Good, accommodating staff!”
I stayed 4D3N with my 12-year old daughter. Near to food establishments, shopping malls and historical places. I love the ambiance and food presentation in restaurant, it represents CEBU, truly amazingfor tourists! The place is clean and we love the rooftop Pool & RestoBar. We stayed few minutes to an hour in rooftop before we rest and even had dinner there. They offer private coach for City tour and they follow any city tour itinerary and the staff in lobby recommend the best places to visit. Drivers are very accommodating , however I strongly recommend that all driver should at least know a bit of History for City tour. I will definitely recommend this hotel, my daughter even rate it 4-5 Star!
Top class heritage hotel in Cebu”
Our first time to stay in Cebu city we stayed for three nights.located in the centre of town.the Room was a nice size and very comfortable, all the staff were very helpful and always had a nice smile, the food was good also with a good choice for breakfast.its about 40 minutes from the airport 675peso.i would recommend this hotel for a few relaxing days in the city the decor was also pleasant
very nice clean room and facilities. Bar wit nice view on top floor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. 5star like. even hours after our checkout, staff assisted us to get a taxi (during sto. Nino festival) to Airport. They even store our luggage for free so we can explore Cebu City. I highly recommend this place.
Great hotel for a pleasant stay in Cebu”
Really nice hotel just next to the famous Colon Street in Cebu. The room was very clean and we really liked the interior design of the hotel. We enjoyed every night on the rooftop terrasse drinking fresh cocktails (really reasonable prices). The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We had an issue with a cancelation one of the rooms, but the hotel manager solved the problem with great compensation. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough!
Bang for the Buck”
It’s a good hotel for a budget-conscious traveller or maybe because I just got a nice deal from Agoda. It has an excellent location, which is near to malls, restaurants, and other Cebu landmarks. You’d also get to know some Cebuano history inside your room since it’s a heritage hotel. If you love reading local history, they also have a mini-collection of books about it. I just wished they had provided some slippers in the room. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay with this hotel. I hope to get more deals from Agoda so that I can stay in this hotel again.
Great location and nice hotel ”
Friendly staff, excellent service, delicious food, comfortable clean room and close distance to Magellan’s Cross, Sto. Nino church, Cebu cathedral, Fort San Pedro. The hotel is also proud to be known as the first and only heritage hotel in Cebu.
Maayong Adlaw Maricel! Thank you for staying at Cebu’s only heritage hotel. We are happy that we make your stay extraordinary and special with the goal of providing the Cebuano hospitality that preserves the local cultural heritage and the passion of preserving Mother Earth. Hope to see you again at Palm Grass!
GREAT LOCATION, CLEAN ROOM AND HOSPITABLE STAFF”
Have stayed in several hotels in cebu and so far this is the best I have ever stayed. The room is big, the location is great, so easy to explore the city and the staffs are very hospitable. When it comes to food, they are serving good breakfast in variety of options. In all great value for money. Would recommend it to friends and clients.
