Great place, lovely stay!”

Great location, very clean, and quiet.

I stayed here for three nights by myself at the end of my holiday in the U.K. (my boyfriend had to leave before I did, so I had four nights to myself - I would have stayed all four nights here but the first night they had no vacancies) and I'm so glad I made the decision to stay here! Location was convenient. It's a quick walk from Swiss Cottage (Jubilee Line) tube station (exit 2) and there are numerous buses as well. If you're taking the tube, you can be at Oxford Street in no time at all - take the Jubilee south to Bond St. and you're in the heart of all the best shopping and atmosphere that central London has to offer. If Camden Town is on your agenda, you're actually better off grabbing a bus because you'll get there faster, and there are a number of buses which go toward that part of town. Regardless of where you want to go, you'll be close to everything the great city of London has to offer! In the neighborhood, within a few minutes walk, there are a few fast food restaurants, a couple small restaurants which serve good food, and a couple pubs (this is London after all). There's a mini Marks & Spencer food shop, Argos, a pharmacy, and a number of other shops (including a charity shop which is ALWAYS good for buying cheap books, and if you're like me, that's a necessity). Cleanliness: I was very impressed by how much attention they pay to cleaning the place! You hear stories about hostels being these dark hovels of squalor, but this place was clean and lovely! Beds: Comfortable, and I truly loved and appreciated the privacy curtains and individual reading lights. I was able to sleep quite comfortably in the room. Staff: Great! Very warm, friendly and helpful! Breakfast: Simple (toast/croissants, cereal, juice, coffee), but it's free! Dinner menu: Surprisingly good and inexpensive as well!

Amazing hostel stay”

Close to Tube, comfort and friendliness of staff

Palmers Swiss Cottage is by far the best hostel I've been to. For the price you pay, it's worth every penny. It's close to the Jubilee line Tube so access to Central London is easy. The train arrives frequently so you're waiting around the station. Room were clean and comfortable. There a sufficient toilets and showers on every floor so you never have to wait. Overall excellent!

Excellent, affordable choice in great location”

Palmer's Lodge is a great place to stay in London. It's only a few subway stops away from Oxford Circus, but in the relatively quiet and peaceful Swiss Cottage area. It has great facilities and friendly staff, and is also very clean. The breakfast costs £6, but is all you can eat, with croissants, pain au chocolat, toast, fruit, yoghurts, cereal, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, juices, and tea and coffee, so is actually decent value. The beds are comfortable, with curtains for privacy in the dorms, and lockers are provided (although you need your own lock). I've stayed here twice, and it is now my 'go to' choice for accommodation in London.

Pretty good stay for solo travel ”

Price, value and comfort

Pretty good stay, didn't expect too much from a hostel so this place was above my expectations. Bed was clean and made well. The privacy curtain was pretty useful. Wasn't very loud or noisy which was good. Bathrooms for this room were separate and kept clean most of the day with regular cleaning. The lodge is pretty close to the Swiss cottage station and bus stops which is frequently services to the city. Only thing i would ask for is more power boards. There was a power outlet under my bunk but was being used for the lights on the beds. They did have power boards but had run out. Overall defenetaly a good stay and will definitely come back here if I come to London again.

Nice customer service!”

The flight was delayed for a day and I couldn't notify the hostel about that, so by the time we arrived the booking was considered as cancelled (though I payed in advance), the front desk quickly sorted things out and gave back the room to us, huge plus. Stayed in the common room for a bit before checking in, they have few desktop computer for you to access the internet and quite a lot of sofa around the room, almost fell asleep on the sofa haha. We got a room on the second floor, the room was decent in terms of size and the bathroom was quite neat, they provide clean towel every day which is very nice, beds are soft and comfortable. But the walls between rooms are quite thin so you can hear conversations from the next room. But overall I would still say facilities in the hostel are decent. The hostel is close to both Swiss Cottage Station and Finchley Road, you can get to Central London in around 20 minutes, mind that both station are in zone 2 though. I went to Wembley stadium for Coldplay concert and Wembley Park station happens to be the next station of Finchley Road, so if you are planning for a concert in Wembley you don't have to worry about travelling back to your hostel. I had a nice time in this hostel and I would try to stay here if I visit London again.

Great stay at the Palmers Lodge”

This is my second time to stay at the Palmers Lodge, it's,surprisingly, better than my first stay a few years ago! The location is great! The bed is very comfortable. However, it's a bit noisy in the morning since the kids got up early and shout very loudly... except this, everything is just perfect. I'll stay at the Palmers Lodge next time when I come to London.

Last minute late night booking.”

I usually use airbnb these days as it's easier to find somewhere that can accommodate my van/truck with parking than hotels which might have height restrictions etc. I stayed at Palmers Lodge years ago and had a good experience so decided to try again as I wasn't too confident getting somewhere on airbnb as it was late at night. The price was high for a private double room, but I knew the facilities were good and there would be parking for my van. Had a nice stay and everything was clean and the staff were super friendly and accommodating :)

THE GOLD STAR OF HOSTELS”

Well worth all the great reviews this place gets. Couldn’t get in for months last year as it was always booked. Staff are incredible a big shout out to THERESA on reception who truly went beyond the call of duty over and above but that is not to say that all the staff on reception were nothing but brilliant as well. Barman great too. WELL DONE PALMERS LODGE - you make it all look easy but it is hard work, skills and great people who make this work in a beautiful building. Loved my stay and would recommend 100% and will be back. Catherine

A tragedy! ”

I had been travelling in London for four weeks and I found this GEM on my very last night ....and with my return flight already booked. Maginificent building in a super location between Swiss Cottage and Finchley Road (four stops Euston, Kings X, St Pancras) in quiet neighbourhood. Everything you could want within 200 yards. Beds were huge cots and not bunks, very private .....with carpet. Free coffee, wifi, guests' kitchen access to PCs etc. Secure lockers, nice bar, bistro ....everything Phenomenal.

Considering the volume of clients Palmers Lodge is very clean and tidy. The facilities are cleaned regularly and there are sufficient rubbish bins around the mansion. Just loved sitting in the garden area chatting with inmates from around the world over a drink.

Pleasantly surprised!”

Price

This was my first time staying at a hostel and I was pleasantly surprised. I just need a place to crash when I went to London to see a play and didn't want to spend £150 just to sleep. The staff were friendly enough. I was in a 6 bed female dorm and while one of the women snored and another pair left at 4:30 and were not shy about turning on lights, the curtains around your bed kept enough light out. I never sleep well in hotels so this wasn't a big deal. Breakfast is simple but well enough, especially for the price. (cold cereal, croissants and toast with jam along with juice or coffee) I only wish they had more private rooms available as I would love to stay at this hostel when I take my daughter up next week to see a play also. For under 16's to stay in the hostel you have to have a private room.

I had an awesome time at the lodge. The location was great, easy to take a bus and being in Camden Town is like less than 20 minutes. Great comfi common room, and special thumbs up for the staff really, who I thought was pretty amazing. The rooms were clean, and the bathrooms/toilets always clean as well! Chance of bumping your head if you get a bunk in the attic”

For this price of a bunk bed in London, you have to be prepared to accept certain inconveniences. Firstly, the location is not bad at all, just 5 mins from Swiss Cottage underground. The area seemed rather residential and not very touristy. The house itself looks very impressive and grand. Depending on where your bunk bed / room is assigned, it can be quite a labyrinth to get there, including passing through shower rooms / toilets. If your bunk bed is in the attic with low beams, be prepared to get your head bumped no matter how careful you are. It is really quite a feat to manoeuvre your way in and out as, besides the low beams, there are also odd columns to avoid. I now realised none of the photos shown were photos from the attic. I scouted around and there seemed to be a lack of power plugs in general (for charging of your devices) but I was lucky to find a very well-hidden extension cord behind my bunk bed and hence, I had 'exclusive' usage of it. Toilets / shower rooms seemed plentiful. The bunk bed itself offers great privacy (curtains) and is very comfortable.

About Dwiss Cottage”

Swiss Cottage is convinience place go around in London. Nowadays, new staffs are working at Front section, so they need more tranning. Because their action is so slow. But original stuffs are very nice service . I but customers attitude are not good. They are making dirty, specially western people. They don't care..... Specially night time, they are talking with friends or new people outside. It is already midnight or one or two morning time. We cannot sleep well. They drunk and talking very loudly. Sometime nighttime stuff is don't care to them,. Hope staff say to them BE QUIET Or go to bed. I cannot recommend my friends to stay there,.
