Find hotels in Pamunugama

This was my first visit to Beach Boutique Hotel but not my first visit to Sri Lanka. I was travelling at short notice, and hotels I had stayed in before were already fully booked so decided to try the Beach boutique. It is a small hotel with just a few rooms so it is already more personal than its bigger neighbours. Because you cannot see into the hotel from the road the initial entrance is quite dark - however, we were welcomed most graciously by Mr Withanage who took care of our check in process. We were offered a glass of tea and jaggery and then a choice of handmade soaps that we would use in our rooms - a lovely touch! We were then shown to our rooms and they were beautifully decorated and furnished, spacious and comfortable. There were plenty of sockets suitable for UK plugs in convenient locations in the room - an important point when it is necessary to work in the evening. Beach Boutique did a great job of thinking where sockets were needed - near a work desk or a mirror - something that bigger hotels have not done so well. Because we were on a business trip, we ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel every day. The terrace with the seated and dining area is beside the pool and is all open air. The views over the ocean are lovely and, if you are lucky, you will see some spectacular sunsets. The food was well prepared and dinner was excellent with the fish and local dishes especially good such as the seer fish, lagoon prawn currry and crab curry. One thing to bear in mind is that all of the hotels in this location are 'stand-alone' - there are no shops or places to go for a stroll - so if you want to go out for an evening walk, take advice from the staff about where you can go by taxi. If you want lots of different facilities - then you would need to go to one of the bigger hotels. However, if you want a gracious welcome, caring staff and good food....we would highly recommend Beach Boutique and will go back there again.
