Little piece of paradise”

owners and staff, food and view

The Panorama restaurant & bungalows can be found on the east side of Ko Lanta. This is the side that faces the mainland of Thailand. It's 26 km from Saladan pier and located right in between Old Town and Sangka U (Sea gypsy village). It will take you 35 minutes to get there by taxi and will cost you at least 600 bath depending on the season and your bargaining skills. For the more adventurous there's also the possibility to take a tuk tuk. This is however not really recommended and it will only be marginally cheaper. All taxi drivers should have a map were the Panorama restaurant is indicated. Just make sure they know exactly where you are going before you get in. The best option to get there however is to simply contact the Panorama in advance and they will pick you up at the Ko Lanta pier for a small fee. In advance does NOT mean on arrival. It means at least 1 day before your arrival. There are several room options but I only stayed in the seaview bungalow. This bungalow consist of one large room with kingsize bed, a closet and a table. The toilet and shower are ensuite but in a separate section divided by a door. There is a fan that you will hardly ever use because of the almost constant sea breeze that functions as a natural airco. A mosquito net is provided. There's also a little terras from where you can enjoy the view. To get to the bungalows you will need to go down several steep steps. The restaurant has a superbe selection of Thai food and some western dishes all prepared from organic local products. Laundry services, motorcycle rental and tour desk are also provided at very competitive prices. You will have the opportunity to drink excellent coffee and taste the delicious homemade brownies. Highly recommended!!!

Unbeatable view and warm welcoming”

Warm welcome, great view, calm, beautiful simple rooms at unbeatable price

We had planned to stay 2, than 3, than 4 and finally left with nostalgy after 5 nights at Panorama... Jack and Hua's warm welcome in their beautiful panoramic restaurant and rooms made us enjoy our stay, waking up with sunrise visible from our bedroom or reading from the small terrace. Rooms are simple (cold water, fan only in some rooms, wide open to the sea), which makes them charming. We discovered Koh lanta with moto taxi and travel tour agency, but came every night back with the feeling of being at home, eating delicious Thai meals, discovering how to cook them... We went to Panorama following great recommendation from friends and we will certainly pass on the word!

Quiet on the sea yet easy enough to get whererever”

Room facing the sea, cost, friendly owners, great food

This has been the best place I've stayed in all of Thailand, so far. My room faced the ocean, I slept to the sound of the waves and I woke to the sunrise. Sleeping in is also an option when you close the window. The location is farther away from the ferry landing than I expected (about 500 baht for the taxi) but the room, the food at the restaurant, the service, access to mopeds to get around and the fantastic rate more than makes up for it. Jack & Hua, the owners, went to great lengths to make my stay perfect and even arranged the ferry ticket for my departure to the next destination. I highly recommend Panorama Bungalow for your stay on Ko Lanta.

For the quiet and nature-loving type”

Amazing view, friendly owners.

After a month in Thailand we wanted to rest for a bit before coming home. We headed to this super quiet Koh Lanta bungalow and got just that. The rooms are "open" at the top part of the wall before the roof and don't have glass over windows or anything, so sound carries between the rooms easily. If you are up late or like to party and make noise this isn't the place for you. Not many bugs came in, but it is possible for them to. We had TONS of lizards and geckos but they are probably why there is no bugs! Don't be afraid of them, even the BIG ones. They were cute and minded their own business. Beds have bug netting around them for peace of mind and protection. Rooms have private bathroom and shower but water is not heated. No tv, no fridge, weak questionable wifi. I didn't mind going without those things for 4 days at all. Location is totally out of the way. You will definitely need to rent a motorbike or scooter to travel around the island if that is something you wish. The owner and his wife are super friendly and speak great English. They have bikes and also own a kayak for renting. 4 friendly "guard dogs" live on site. This is a lovely place for relaxing but out of the way of tourist stuff unless you can scooter around. I probably wouldn't recommend this place for children.

Away from Everything”

Clean, Good Food, and Kind Staff

I personally had a very nice time here. I think there are a lot of points I want to say about this place, and really it depends on the person if they will view these points as negatives or positives. 1. It is about a 40 min drive from the port in Saladan. (nothing around, no hotels, no touristy things, very isolated) 2. I don't know if it's just the dates that I stayed there, but the waves at night were sooo sooo loud. I had the bungalow closest to the shore, and the sound of the waves were deafnening, I couldn't sleep so well. 3. There aren't many dining options close by, but the hotel is also a restaurant with some good food. Honestly, I had the best chicken fried rice, I have ever had in my life. Also, the menu was a bit pricey (compared to countries like Japan though it was cheap) 4. The bungalows are located on a rocky beach, so no you probably will not be swimming 20 meters from your bungalow, you will have to drive all the way to the other side of the island to find some beaches, take a tour to some islands, or maybe row to the island across. 5. The steps to the bungalows are pretty steep, and there are quite a few to go down to the furthest bungalow (closest to the beach) If you have trouble with stairs or have a lot of luggage, this would definitely be something to look at. 6. There are a lot of geckos, and tons of bugs if you leave your light on at night (for people who are afraid of lizards and bugs) geckos are harmless though and never bothered us during our stay 7. There is no hot water for the shower. The shower and toilet is open air. 8. You can rent a scooter at the hotel for 250baht a day or 200baht/day if you rent it for 2 or more days. Also, you can rent a 2person kayak for 500baht a day at the nearby restaurant. 9 When you get to the port, it is normally a minimum of 400baht per person to get you to the hotel. (NOTE certified TukTuk drivers have a highlighter vest with a number and a sign on their TukTuk with set prices) Hope this was helpful.

Getaway from everything in this slice of heaven...”

Bungalow on the water, the owner Jack and his wife, great food...

Very basic on a remote area of Koh Lanta, this bungalow makes you feel truly like you have been able to get away from it all. The owners are amazingly hospitable. Room has basic needs, but the view is outstanding. Definitely not 5 star, but a high point of my month in Thailand. Thank you for everything!

The sound of the sea in the breeze forest”

The landscape, into the wild nature and a lovely staff

I had three amazing nights in Panorama Bungalow. The room sea view was great, it makes you really feel to be between the forest and the sea. You can even hear the sound of the sea during the night. My stay there was really relaxing and the landscape of the restaurant enchanted me every sunset. The cuisine is really good, I had one of the best pad thai of my travel and I suggest at least to go there for lunch or dinner. It is a place I strongly recommend if you love nature. It was an unusual and unique experience for me, I really hope to have the chance to get back. The owner and his wife are really lovely and they will help you to book taxi, boat tours, ferries and bus. You can also rent there a motorbike to move around the island.

Friendly and helpful staff, good restaurant, sea view

Very caring and friendly staff in Panorama Bungalow. Jack and his family are generous and nice people. It was very nice to meet them :). They help you with everything what you need (renting motorbike, find another room if they are full and whatever....). Also the food in their restaurant is great and for a good price. Location is very quiet and far from town. But with motorbike is only few minutes to get there. The Old town is very close (4km), very nice for night walking, dinning and the other..... I definitely recommend this place!

A taste of paradise ”

Jack and hue were amazing and the veiws were the best to see

We came across this place by chance on here. We originally booked for 2 nights and as soon as we arrived we were welcomed like part if the family. Jack and hue could not of made our stay any better. We booked to stay in a room but also had the opportunity to stay in a bungalow for 2 nights extra. Both rooms were amazing and we could not say either were better. Jack also went out of his way to take us for a Thai massage and to try some local food. This is the best place we have stayed in Thailand and would stay here again in a heartbeat. It's a little over 4km past old lanta and the views are amazing to wake up to. If you have the chance to try it then do so. You won't be disappointed.

they made me feel like family”

personalized service, view, beautiful setting in nature

even before I arrived I had emailed the owner , Jack and he went way above and beyond to help me. Then he offered to pick me up from the ferry and made sure someone carried my heavy bags to the room. Then he upgraded my room for no charge and he and his amazing wife, Hua, invited me to a lovely complimentary meal with them and I got to experience her amazing cooking. The room is right on the ocean and you can hear the waves coming in which was very soothing..and the sunrises were magnificent. I had a health issue and it was a monsoon, so Jack personally drove me to the hospital and waited for me and took me back. It's at the southern part of the island which is very beautiful. I love design, so I really appreciate that The restaurant has a cool minimal design with lots of woods and white and the view is phenomenal..they don't call it panorama for nothing. If you like coffee , it has the best on the island. ?.his sister owns a coffee plantation in Chang mai. Jack and Hua are natural hosts , although they both worked in business in the past in telecommunications. I had some time comstraints at the end of my trip so they offered to personally drive me back to Phuket so I would make my flight...I can't say enough good things about them ..and if you're a dog lover, they have 3 lovely dogs!

Very friendly and helpful, beautiful location, authentic cooking.

We stayed seven nights at Panorama and wished that we could have stayed for seven more at least. the most helpful and friendly hosts that we ever had. The room and the restaurant is very simple but you will find peace and room for relaxation here. We rented scooters for three days and explored the island. If you love nature, waking with beautiful sunrises and a simple and relaxing lifestyle, this is the place! Next time we visit Thailand, we will definitely stay.

Nice owners, great view, secluded and quiet

I booked this hotel for 1 week but extended it for two more. They are so nice and greeted me warmly. The rooms are simple but clean and with mosquito net on the beds. No hot water shower but I didn't need it considering the 30 plus degree weather here. Restaurant is good and they set me up with my travel needs. You will need to rent a scooter or bicycle to get around as Panorama is somewhat remote but just 15 minutes from the action on a scooter. I whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

Serene little place”

View, quiet, friendly staff

I loved my stay here. Taking a shower in the light of the sunrise and full moon was absolutely breathtaking! Perfect place to relax and unwind. The staff really care about their guests. My room was spotless, not a single bug despite being open-air. The internet was great, the food was good (although I didn't so much like the American breakfast... 2 fried eggs and 2 hot dog wieners. Seems the usual in Asia though!). Rent a scooter if you want to visit other areas of the island. I've got a phobia of riding on the them so I was stuck at the bungalows. There is literally nothing around within walking distance, so I felt a bit out of luck on things like snacks or even just wandering about... although I was able to buy a few things from the owners. Best to bring what you can with you. The beach is too rocky to swim on, but that's probably a good thing for those showering in the ocean-view rooms!

great view, far away from everything”

view, helpful owner

The bungalows are very basic but clean. They have an open air washroom, which is nice when the weather is good. The location is very hard to rate. On the one hand, it is far away from everything but one restaurant up the hill which closes at 7pm (same as the panorama restaurant tho!) and driving there at night is no fun. If you are looking for a place like that, panorama bungalows is perfect, so everybody has to decide by themselves. The breakfast there was a bit pricy with small portions but the other dishes were fine. We really enjoyed our stay there, although it is hard to say whether we would come back as it's far away from the nice beaches and other restaurants.

Sunrises, sound of waves, remoteness

Our stay was great, it was super relaxing. We got the best of both worlds with the sunrise views from our bungalow and seeing the sunset on the other side of the island. The owners are really sweet, their food is delicious and they have great coffee (they own a coffee bean farm in Chiang Mai). If you're looking for a romantic, relaxing stay, falling asleep by the sound of waves, this is the place for you. We also loved the outdoor shower/toilet! We've already recommended it to friends!
