"Owners and staff great."

Although situated on the main street of Vang Vieng, this property is away from all the sights and sounds and the nightly entertainment. Hence, it offers a friendly home-away-from-home atmosphere for all of the guests. The property offers very clean rooms at an affordable price as well as many other comforts and services. Run by Pan, a feisty Lao lady and Neil, an old hippy from New Zealand, along with other seven staff members, every guest is welcome to be a part of the extended family in Vang Vieng.
Guests can relax at the quiet hammock area or enjoy a few movies in the movie room for some entertainment. The property also features a great restaurant that offers a range of western and Lao cuisines, as well as some light snacks. The large communal area makes Pans Place Guesthouse an ideal place to meet with fellow travelers and make some new friends.

Not recommended ”
I rarely give bad reviews but I would not stay here again nor do I recommend it. There was a bad smell in the room and I tried to ignore it and cover with perfume but on the morning of checkout we found it was coming from a dead cat stuck in the roof just beneath our window. The bathroom walls had mold and the floor was also pretty bad.
I am sorry you had this experience. Unfortunately our housekeeping did not report anything wrong with the room (they wear masks while cleaning so perhaps they didn't notice) and the previous guests didn't report anything either. If we had known we would have tried to relocate you or offer you a refund. We hope you enjoy the rest of your travels. Rest assured the whole room has been renovated since you stayed last year.
Very friendly and helpful staff, all tour bookings can be made at reception and are the cheapest we found in the town. Room is basic but ok for a few nights, includes ensuite and fan. Great value for money and very nice restaurant.
It’s a young persons’ hostel”
So we are not young. But it was clean. Not noisy. The blanket stank. The shower took some figuring out. I could swear the bathroom was tilted. And if the old couple down the hall laughed half the night, forgive them. Must have been the happy mushrooms! Just consider them the original hippies.
Our first place without aircon and the room was pretty hot. It was basic but very clean though. The staff were really good and happy to help with any questions. We booked a few tours through them and all of them were good and ran smoothly. Would recommend if you're on a budget.
Perfect Spot. Best staff. Just lovely.”
Ok, the rooms and bathrooms could have a make-over, but so do most places in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. The shower is hot, the beds comfortable, the kitchen and food is good and the supportive staff just awesome. Right in the center, good people around, okay WiFi. All good. They really take care of your trip and wishes. Fast laundry service. - And in general the most stunning landscape around accessable just by renting a mountainbike next door. Thumbs up on this.
Rooms vary from darkish and basic to quite good. I changed and got better room upstairs. Frontline staff were very helpful and efficient. There is a club nearby pumping out some fair music. Some might consider this as good. It seemed to be on the weekend i was there.
Good value for money, great food”
Rooms are clean and ok for the price, the place is quiet, the wifi is pretty weak and the bathroom was quite smelly. The food is just great. The ladies in the kitchen make an excellent job. Try the red or green curry! It‘s so delicious!
Great guesthouse - very friendly and helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere and great communal areas. Rooms are basic but very clean, everything we needed for our stay in Vang Vieng! The restaurant and laundry service are great as well. We'll miss it here!
Very cosy place!”
For the value, you get what you paid for facilities, plus friendly staff and good location. The food from the kitchen is good too! And the tour operators recommended are quite good. Thanks for the hospitable experience!
Great Place Pan's Place”
I was given a very quite, clean and nice room with on suit. I loved the silence in that room at night which is not easy to find unless you pay an arm and a leg for it! Easy to communicate your needs as English was very well spoken. Friendly and attentive staff ready to help you in whatever I need it. A place I will stay everytime I go to Vang Vieng. No cons from my experience.
+ - lovely garden (including butterflies) away from the street with community hang out place - bathrooms are attended to several times a day - rags/lines to dry cloths in front of rooms/huts (especially useful because of rainy season) - reception staff is very happy to have a chat - the free water to refill your bottle - when I extended my stay I was offered having my sheets and towel changed
Great place for sole travellers”
Location was good, its just a few minutes walk from the main area but along a main road, so busy enough for single female. Room was fine, I actually got upgraded for free. reception staff spoke English (were English) and were helpful/ pleasant. There was food available on site which was nice and served very quickly. It has a little restaurant area which was good to meet other travellers, it had a relaxed feel to it. The only issue was it was really noisy until about 11pm in the back rooms but I think this was because there was stuff happening on the airport carpark for Pi Mai, so don't know what its normally like, but noise stopped by midnight so it was ok.
Really nice stay ”
We loved our time at Pans Place! Staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Facilities were really good. We enjoyed the movie room one of the nights...great for hanging out and relaxing! There was also a good chill spot downstairs with hammocks. Good location and near places to rent bicycles and motorbikes. Great stay, would definitely be back!
Really Nice Stay”
We stayed three nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very basic but fine for sleeping and the bed was comfortable. There are some really nice hang out areas for relaxing...a movie room with tons of choices and a lounge/hammock area in the back. Breakfast isn't included, but the restaurant downstairs was quite good and not too expensive. Staff was really nice and went well out of their way to help you. Also a nice central location. Would definitely stay again!
I have been travelling around sud asia during 2 months now and this is the most ridiculous guesthouse i have been so far. The room had air conditioned but the guy in the reception did not gave us the remote because he said we booked a room without air cond. Room was dirty and the bed was really nasty. The most dirty bed i have been in 2 months (full of stains, hairs from other guests, and dust. Seriously Really disgusting). Toilet was old and disgusting as well. The guy in the reception did not help with anything. Really unhelpful staff!!! Try to find something better for the same price!!!
For anyone concerned with this review we would like to make clear that the guest only had a problem with us after she was unable to get the remote for the AC. There are two prices for rooms, one for fan and one for AC which is the same in most guesthouses. Marta did not want to pay for the AC. Nor did Marta inform us of any problem with her room whatsoever. The room these guests took was renovated in January so the argument about the bathroom doesn't hold up either.
Reception is amazing!”
Great place to stay. The owner is very nice and helpful. Excellent location and value for money. They also have a pool and free water bottle refill.
Nice hostel with relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Very kind staff as well and nice little restaurant attached. Not super clean.
if you just wanna only sleep alone, you can try”
when i arrived vangvieng at 5 in the morning i slept here and i left to other accommodation it was good choice
Good. Cheap. No frills.”
It's your basic hostel. Comfortable. Staff are very helpful. It's close to everything you need. Rooms are a bit shabby but nothing terrible. We took a private room with a bathroom. In the four nights we stayed, there was no housekeeping. We took toilet paper from the shared bathroom down the hall.
Typical backpacker budget hotel. Didn't like that there were crumbs on the bed, was a little worried about bed bugs but we were ok. Staff are super chill and helpful. Water pressure was fine for us. Wifi is spotty
