Pros - lovely staf - clean and big rooms with a nice shower - amazing view - cheap minibar Cons A lot of stairs, especially when it’s hot.. But if you want a nice view you have to walk up some stairs anyway!! We stayed in other places in Koh Phi Phi but this was definitely our favourite. We booked for 2 nights but immediately after our arrival we booked another 2 nights here!
Great place to stay, well worth the money! ”
-Reasonably priced for Phi Phi. -Staff helped us with our bags from the port, after we requested it. -Room was lovely and clean, modern interior. -Great views from the balcony. - Staff really friendly and helpful. -Bed comfortable although a little hard. -Only con to staying here was the steep steps to climb up to your room, we were on the top floor, so lots of steps to climb. We didn’t mind it as it was a good workout, however people less able may find this a struggle. -location good as close to the centre and beaches and very close to the viewpoint, but still set back enough not to be disrupted by the hustle and bustle of Phi Phi.
Coolest view of the ocean on both beaches. ”
I loved loved loved the view! With big windows. People in reviews complained the climb up, but hey you can't get a view like that without having to go up! And it's good exercise, I didn't mind one bit. It's off the party scene, but you can here a little bit, but not so much that it bothers. The walls how ever were paper-thin, so you can here your neighbours talking really well. Shower pressure was really bad. But it's been a really dry season (my stay was in march) and the hotel is guite high, so it's understandable. Nice staff, really sweet lady at the reseption. Again the view is so coool! Woukd recommend this 10/10.
A nightmare hotel not feeling safe worst room ever”
This is the worst hotel and room ever stayed , including trekking lodge Nepal. Photo and description room not trusted same extrem bad managment. First room filled up with extrem poor furniture if any, they nailed the one of balconey door. Big cracks and flaking paint, a dusty plastic chair can fall down any minute. The safe rusted, can walk over from next door balconey . High music all night, no service, agressive manager. Please stay away
- You need to climb a lot of stairs but it's a nice excercise. - Beware of monkeys during breakfast time. - 10 mins walk to the beach and 15 mins to the port. - The same breakfast every day (yogurt with müsli, small bagette and a jam, tea or instant coffee).
It’s good bad you need to climb to many stairs
Amazing view of the island”
The place is on top of the hill, you have an amazing view! Far away from the crowd and noice of the night life... only thing you have to do many steps to get on top! The room is a fair size, better looking in the picture. It’s a good place to spend a night
Basic hotel, far from the Pier”
Pros: Basic clean rooms, decent breakfast, was packed on request, even family rooms at lower levels had decent views. Luggage is carried to the hotel by the porter Cons: Too far from the Pier, many steps. If you are higher level, be ready for a good workout
Flight of Stairs - Great Views!!”
Booked Papaya Phi Phi for 2 nights stay (3/11-3/12) because we wanted to be closer to the viewpoints. I’ve read the reviews before I booked the Deluxe Ocean View (room D8), and boy were they right about the flight of stairs. Thank god they have the bell boy carried our 3 heavy luggage to the top floor. Room was ok, not new, nice or modern. Air-conditioning was slow on getting cold, and when you leave the room the air doesn’t stay on, so every time you come back, it sure is HOT! Since we’ve already expected this, so it doesn’t really surprised us. View was nice, monkeys visited us and ate our breakfast in the patio. Breakfast wasn’t so great, they forgot to clean our room when we had the sign out. We told the lady in the front, she only said sorry. They do offer free luggage carry in and to the ferry. We felt sad for the old man who had to carry our luggage from the ferry to the resort, and back to the ferry the day we leave, so we gave him a good tip.
We booked for two nights and didn’t even stay for one!”
We are a fit and healthy couple in our 20’s so after reading reviews about the steps to the rooms we were too phased - but OMG it’s a joke. Especially in 35 degree heat! We were told we would be met at the pier and escorted to the hotel with help for our luggage, after waiting for 20 mins and still no signs of anyone from the hotel we made our own way there. It’s advertised as 10 mins from the pier - more like 25/30! Once we were at our room we found our front door with a giant crack in the middle of it (like it had been axed lol) the air con didn’t work and the toilet didn’t flush, also our balcony door didn’t lock. We decided this wasn’t the place for us as we knew we wouldn’t enjoy our short stop over on Phi Phi if we stayed at this hotel so we had to leave. They would not refund but they did help us take our bags to our next hotel.
Location is too far away”
The location is too far away from the beach. Plus the location is at top of the hill which means you have to climb up the ladders for quite some time and this can be quite tiresome. But for those who like to exercise and craving for a view, this is the place for you.
Beautiful Rooms and View”
The rooms are simple but clean, cool, and comfortable, and the views are phenomenal. The price you pay for the good view is walking up a lot of stairs, which is harder than it sounds in the heat of the day, but definitely worth it.
Amazing view, good value, and monkeys!!”
Yes, there are a lot of stairs but it's nothing terrible - my room was fairly high up and for the view I got, I didn't mind. You could ask for a room closer to ground level and then you won't have as many to climb. But if you're in decent shape and don't need to go back and forth to your room a lot, you'll be fine. Room was very basic but clean. The view was amazing and the monkeys put on quite a show in the morning! Could hear music at night from a club down below (which was surprising because this place is set back a bit) but not loud enough to bother me. All around, glad I stayed there!
Beautiful bedroom view resort”
Papaya is a lovely place to stay. We got greeted with bottles of water on arrival, after walking to the hotel you need it! The staff are lovely and helpful, location is great as it’s away from all the caos on the beaches yet the stairs are a killer walking up to your room. The view from our room was wonderful and the balcony had monkeys on most mornings.
We booked 2 times this hotel. The 1st room we’ve got (A1) was big (the room was for 3 persons and we were 2), everything was working perfectly, we had a big balcony and we couldn’t see the sea, but it was ok. We had breakfast and it was bread, butter/jam, coffee, juice and fruits with yogurt. The second time our room was smaller (C3), but it was ok. The only problem was the yellow water but the staff told us the water was good and the color was ’cause of the rain. The AC was also dripping water. The view was better!! In general the hotel is good, far away from noisy areas, but close enough to go walking to the beach and restaurants. They offer a pick up service (to help you with the bags from the pier to the hotel - inform the time that you will arrive). Everybody talks about the stairs and it is true. There’s a lot of stairs and it is a good exercise. It was 141 steps to get to our 2nd room. So if you book this place, I guarantee that you will step up at list 98 steps (room A1).
We chose Papaya for our stay on Phi Phi as we wanted to be away from the busy centre. We had a room at the very top of the hotel so there were a lot of steps to reach it, but the views from the balcony were worth the climb. We could still hear some noise travelling up from the town centre but it wasn't loud enough to keep us awake at night. Upon arrival at the pier a member of staff if there to help with luggage and upon departure they offer bag transfer back to the pier at various times through the day. Our room was comfortable with a double bed, private bathroom, air con, mini fridge, a safe, tea and coffee, free bottle water for each day of our stay and a balcony. WiFi worked ok most of the time.
Best View for Staying at PhiPhi”
This place is located about 20 minutes by walking from the pier. Staff waited us at the pier and carrying our luggage. We booked deluxe balcony and the view from the room was so beautiful. Slept well, and the sound from the bar was not so noisy like other review.
Amazing view from room”
We know that there will be stairs to reach the room. And it's worth it. The view is amazing. Room is clean and the staff is very friendly.
Clean, comfortable room. There are a lot of stairs (there is even a calorie burner count on the steps!!) but it is worth it for the view. Breakfast is included - fruit, muesli and yoghurt, orange juice, hot water and sachets for a cuppa and a warm bread roll with butter and jam. Recommend this place and would stay again.
Too Outskirt and Too Tiring”
Basically this hotel is the most "inner part" of Phi Phi Island. We need to walk so far from the pier - never expect this. And the luggage service only provided to the hotel, not from the place Don't bring luggage bag if you want to stay here. Tiring. Lots of steps you need to walk to. Went we reach there, still not ready for check-in. Need to wait and got a room where the floor still wet. Balcony is dirty. And dirty at most corner of the place along the way
