We had a wonderful time staying here. Breakfast was freshly made each morning and the bungalow is only a short 200m walk directly to long beach and lots of nice restaurants. Staff were exceptional and help made our stay enjoyable.

Our Stay in Koh Lanta”
Papillon Bungalows exceeded our expectations! The pool, bungalows, and overall facilities were very clean. It was so nice to be able to relax in the pool or on the front patio after a long day at the beach. We had dinner at Papillon Bungalows twice and it was really good both times. It was also fun being able to eat dinner in one of the open bungalows in the dining area. Papillon Bungalows is only a short walk to the beach and the restaurant on the beach was pretty good too. We enjoyed having a sunset cocktail at the beach bar which is only a short walk from the bungalows. They also had motorbikes for rent and it was very cheap and so much fun to explore the island! The staff was always so friendly too! We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely quiet resort ”
Lovely resort on quiet part of long beach. Loved the bar on the beachfront with the chilled music and gorgeous sunsets. Pool small but good to cool you down. Beach a little bit further away than I would have liked but that’s just me being lazy. Lovely friendly staff and especially lovely guy doing all the grounds maintenance. Very chatty and friendly.

Perfect place to stay in Koh Lanta, very close to the beach”
We spent 14 nights at Papillon Bungalows and we enjoyed every minute. The bungalows are set in a lovely tropical garden and are very clean and spacious, each having a cozy little terrace with a hammock. They were very well equipped with dvd player, tv, a small refrigerator, as well as an electric kettle which came in very handy when waking up very early and needed some coffee or tea. The air conditioning (which you really need while in Thailand) was brand new and worked perfectly. The restaurant was also very good, serving very good Thai food, as well as a few European dishes for those who don't enjoy the Thai cuisine so much. The location was also perfect, Long Beach being 200 m away, as well as a lot of restaurants and beach bars. Tony, the owner, was very friendly, creating a very cozy atmosphere, we shared a few drinks and laughs together. He was always there if you needed help or advice about what to do while in Koh Lanta. The fact that he speaks perfect English comes in very handy, as Thai people are very difficult (if not impossible) to communicate with. We will definitely try to return sometime!

Small resort with wonderful staff”
Papillon Bungalows was a great place to stay for our 5 days in Koh Lanta, The beach is 200 meters away a short 5 minute walk. There is a path at the back of the resort that takes you directly to the beach. The only downside to this resort is that there is no beach club. You will need to lay on your towel on the sand or rent chairs for 300 baht per person. They will give you discount if you rent two chairs - 500 baht. There are great restaurants on the beach as well as the resort has a great restaurant. If you plan is to spent down on the beach this is a great place. The tuk tuk to old town and to the pier is an easy drive. We went to the pier as there is a night market and great restaurants. The tuk tuk drive is around 100 baht or so and we did this a couple of times as it is great evening out after spending the day at the beach. The resort has a tuk tuk - if there are not able to take you to where you need to go they will flag on down for you. Don't hesitate to stay here!

Great bungalow, great location, great owner; highly recommend if staying on Lanta”
Tony was really helpful in advance of and throughout our stay. The bungalow was brilliant; we had one of the large ones and well worth it. It's a great location on long beach; so close to the beach and also to the Phra Ae Road for restaurants (some really good traditional thai), bars and amenities. We didn't eat at the bungalows, aside from breakfast, but all food options looked good. We loved that rather that giving bottles of water each day, they provided 2 and had a water tap to refill as often as you needed, minimising plastic wastage. When we return to koh lanta, we would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyable, realxing stay in beautiful surroundings”
Coming into Koh Lanta, the main road seemed a bit scruffy and run down, and was not what I was expecting. Once off the road however, everything was different. The bungalows are concealed within lush, shady grounds. We were met a reception with smiles and cold drinks and taken straight to our bungalow. We had a family bungalow which was clean and spacious, with air conditioning and a fan. The beach is a very short walk away, through the grounds and down a little track. The area is clean and feels very safe….and we all agreed that the beach was beautiful….clean with clear water and so much space! After the relatively crowded beaches of Kata and Phi Phi it was lovely to have so much space. There are a few sunbeds scattered around, but no parasols, but this is no problem as it is easy to keep in the shade….and they are free! It looked as though there were more loungers with shades further along. There are a few lovely beachfront cafes with wooden sunbed canopy type beds with throws and cushions (aswell as tables and chairs) available…but the whole atmosphere is so relaxed, these seem available for use all day long! Sitting watching the sun go down on one of the beds, with a cocktail is one of my best memories of our holiday! The restaurant area is lovely…pretty during the day, but even better at night with lots of twinky lights and quirky tables and chairs (and hammocks) adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The food was also excellent…with combo Thai dishes to allow you to try different things as well as a variety of thai and western food. The best full English breakfast all holiday! Great customer service…ferry tickets with transfers booked, and staff always on hand to help. One small point….no toiletries are provided, which when traveling light is a bit of a pain. Other than that…couldn’t ask for more. Would love to stay again!

Exceptional”
We had a very enjoyable stay. Papillon has friendly unobtrusive staff and a relaxing vibe in a tropical garden setting. It has a nice cooling pool and is a short stroll to the lovely sandy Long Beach. I would make a couple of suggestions to improve the facilities in the 1 room family accommodation - a table and an electrical socket close to where the kettle is situated. Overall, I would recommend Papillon to anyone visiting Koh Lanta.

Perfect stay with super nice staff”
We actually just wanted to spent 3 days in Ko Lanta but extended our stay. One of the reasons was the nice staff and our super nice bungalow. The whole area is clean and put together lovely. You can get water for free, rent motorbikes or DVDs directly at the front desk and it's only a five minute walk to the beach which has a nice restaurant, chill and massage area. But you can also eat at papillon bungalows itself. The food is very nice. Ican only recommend staying here :)

Great place to relax ”
I was warmly welcomed on my arrival to Papillon Bungalows by the Caroline and Jens. The couple have recently taken over management of the resort and so far are doing a great job. As soon as I arrived jens was there to help me with everything I needed to know. They organised bike rental and offered to help with transport. They also have two young sons so it add a very warm family feeling to the resort. The rooms are spacious and most importantly clean. The beds are comfortable and the shower is quite good (nothing fancy but it has a bit more power than just a dribble. They have an abundance of DVDs for you to choose from (something I wish more hotels/hostels did) and there’s plenty of info about the island and its activities. Another bonus is the hotels proximity to the beach about 3 mins walk and you are on long beach. You can always find a little empty patch to perch on. So its not overrun or overcrowded. Its pretty relaxing here and comfortable place to stay. At night there wasn’t really many places nearby to have a drink. The places that were nearby were often dark or poorly lit. If you are in a couple or group I am sure it would not pose a problem. I only say this as a solo female traveller. But if you are going to koh Lanta its not about the night life. Its a place to relax and re-coup. There are plenty of bars around and a few nightclub. I only offer this advice to other solo female travellers. Overall this is a lovely place to stay and do not be put off by my comments. The resort and surrounding area is very safe and Caroline and Jens are always willing to lend a helping hand.

The Best”
Booked this resort purely based on the reviews and the fact that management responds to peoples reviews. I paid for 13 days in advance on one of the larger bungalovs, which I thought it might be a bit of a gamble based on previous experiences in Thailand. We ended up having a wonderful time. I fully agree with other reviews, this is a great resort with exceptional staff. From the moment we arrived to the time it was to leave we felt almost like being home. Small and simple bungalovs spread spaciously around the garden gives you privacy and the bungalovs are kept very clean and in good condition, as is the whole resort area. Nice feature is having separate AC and fan on the bungalov. Food in the restaurant is excellent, as it is all around Ko Lanta. Special thanks for having the muesli + yogurt + fruits combo at breakfast. In this price range I doubt there is better alternative available, amazing value! Exactly what we were looking for.”
Stayed 10 nights at Papillon and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tony and the staff are really friendly and helpful, but never pushy. We stayed in a regular bungalow, which wasn't huge, but was perfectly adequate for the two of us, with a large clean bathroom with hot water shower, and a nice little outside sitting area with that holiday essential - the hammock!. Great wifi in the room (as throughout the resort) and very importantly enough sockets to keep everything charged. Room can be cleaned daily, or on request, and the staff do a great job. Quiet and reliable aircon, and a ceiling fan meant it was nice to be able to switch between the two at different times. I do like a firm mattress, and found the bed to be very comfy. Bungalows are set in a quiet garden with a nice little pool which is perfect for cooling down after a hard day bombing around the island on a bike, and the resort has a nice little restaurant/bar area. Menu wasn't hugely extensive, but what there was, was good (and that was seconded by my boyfriend who is himself Thai). It's just a short little two minute stroll down a little dirt track through the undergrowth, and you find yourself on a beautiful, quiet stretch of beach, with a couple of nice little beach bars/restaurants easily accessible - a great place to sit and relax and catch a few sunsets. I would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly staff and great breakfast”
Our stay at the Papillon Bungalows was really nice. The atmosphere there is really warm and friendly and in comparison to other accommodation, you can count on the staff, they arrange everything you need and do not cheat on you. We rent a scooter for a day which is a great opportunity to discover the island yourself and we bought our ferry ticket to Koh Jum at the reception. Since we had to leave quite early in the morning, it was no problem for them to prepare our breakfast earlier than it is actually served. The beach is really nice, and at night you can relax at the bar on the beach that is close by.

Perfect place to relax”
Papillon is a wonderful little oasis and a perfect place to relax. Cosy bungalows are about 5 minutes walk to a great stretch of beach where you can play volleyball, sunbathe, have a drink at a beach bar and go for a nice swim. The food at Papillon was the best we tried on the island and cheaper than at some restaurants along the beach. Staff are extremely helpful and booked the trips we selected and helped us to negotiate discounts too. You can hire a motorbike there, relax in cosy pagodas or with a book in a hammock. We only booked originally for 2 nights but ended up staying for the rest of our holiday and will not hesitate to go back.

Good bed but yellow water and mosquitos”
papillon bungalows was our first accommodation in thailand. they have lovely rooms we had room 11 which had a/c, a fan, double bed, mini fridge, tv and dvd player and our own bathroom. everything was clean and the bed is very comfortable. they have a hammock infront of every room and a some chairs and a broom. the broom is handy because walking on the gravel and grass to your room can get messy. they have free wifi only in their outdoor restaurant area. lots of mosquitos in the room but you can get a coil thing from them and that should do the trick. water is yellow for some reason, i think it's rain/tank water? didn't bother us that much but was weird at first. there was no complementary water and because it's kinda low season the restaurant close at 2pm so you have to go to the nearest mini mart just 300m down the road on the opposite side. hot water not that hot but water pressure is good. also, the rooms aren't very soundproof. you can hear the next room easily so keep that in mind when staying up late.. happened to us while we were watching a dvd. apparently we were too loud? tv is mostly in thai so the owners kindly have a dvd selection you can take to your room to watch. no bad collection. they are walking distance to the beach, you can hire scooter from them from 250 baht a day. don't forget to ask for helmets of you want them. you don't need a licence, just an id will do. i recommend getting a scooter because there's not much around long beach but hotels and restaurants. you'd want the scooter to head into sala dan which is about 12min ride. or you can take a tuk-tuk taxi. i think that's it! it's a good stay, they have a swimming pool as well and a dog. overall, we had a pleasant stay and recommend it to people who just wants to relax and feel at home. this is the place for you. if you don't like mosquitos, bugs and insect then i don't recommend it.

Taste of paradise ”
We had an amazing stay at Papillon Bungalows. Tony and the staff could t have been more helpful and friendly. The accommodation was clean and comfortable,breakfast was delicious and the pool was lovely. Set amongst beautiful gardens and a 5 min walk to stunning Long Beach. Plenty of restaurants walking distance but food at Papillon was very nice too. Our children loved it here too. I would highly recommend.

Extremely relaxing”
Loved our stay at Papillon Bungalows. This place was amazing value for money, had lovely areas to relax, great swimming pool for our young kids (aged 7 and 4) and came with a lovely breakfast which was made to order (not buffet style). Owners and staff were very friendly. We didn't venture down to the beach much, Long beach was not the best swimming beach for the kids and the water wasn't so good in low season (jellyfish were around also). The bar/restaurant area closed early being low season, however there were good restaurant options close by (May's Kitchen was excellent!), and you could still sit in the restaurant area to use internet, read etc. Would definitely recommend Papillon Bungalows as a place to stay if you are looking for basic accommodation options at a great price.

Great Stay”
Papillon staff are so welcoming and accommodating to us. They were very helpful with setting up travel arrangements and communicating with us throughout our stay. Tony, the owner, went out of his way to intruduce himself and make sure we'd arrived safely from our previous location. The setting is quiet and serene, with a very short walk to beautiful Long Beach. Rooms are nice and comfortable and kept very clean. Breakfast was always yummy! This is a great stay for singles, couples, and families alike with an overall peaceful and warm vibe. The resident dog even greeted us and walked us to our room when we'd arrived home late after an evening on the town-very sweet! Overall high recommendation! We'd definitely return to Papillon!

Excellent staff, great location on Long Beach”
Overall this was a solid place to stay for being near Pra Ae beach and if you want to go to one of the parties at Pangea beach bar. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The bungalows are basic, but they are clean and the shower/air conditioning is very adequate. The beds and bedding could be upgraded to be more comfortable. The property was surprisingly quiet and the curtains keep the rooms dark.

4th visit!”
My 4th stay at this little paradise on Lanta, and I think that says it all!. It's clean, quiet and chilled, with bungalows spaced out around a quiet, tree-filled garden, the perfect spot for a bit of hammock-time! The staff are some of the most attentive and friendly that I've come across, and the onsite restaurant does fantastic, reasonably priced and very tasty thai food which you can get tailored to your own personal level of spiciness, and which cater for us vegetarians with tofu versions of most dishes. There are also a few western dishes for those missing home. The included breakfast is basic but good, and sets you up nicely for the day. A small plunge pool is an added bonus, and lovely for a cool dip at the end of a hot day! Bungalows themselves are basic, but perfectly adequate, coming with large comfy bed, aircon, fan, mozzie nets, fridge and private bathroom with hot water. My only small gripe is with the bedding. although spotlessly clean, I'd prefer a couple more pillows, and more that just a thin top-sheet, though they do state that you can request extra blankets etc. The beach itself is only a couple of minutes walk away down a little dirt track, and there are some nice places to eat and drink. There are also a mini-mart, ATM, and clinic within a few minutes out on the street. I'm already missing my little home-from-home.
