More about Paradores Del Castillo

More about Paradores Del Castillo

Built in the early 1900's, Paradores Del Castillo was restored in the late 2013, still adhering to the footprint and Spanish-American Colonial style pf the Filipino bahay-na-bato. It was completed on March 9, 2015 and called Paradores Del Castillo because of the Spanish practice of transforming old castles, monasteries and historic buildings into government-run luxury hotels. Parar or para means to stop and stay. The Spanish-Filipino surname del Castillo also means "castle". Thus, the property's name literally means, "stop at castle."

This property is located a few meters from the historic "Casa V," the home of the Villavicencio revolutionary figures; the San Lorenzo Ruiz steps leading to the Virgin of Caysasay Church; the Taal Public Market; the St. Martin de Tours Basilica; and the museums on Agoncillo Street.

Guests can enjoy the garden with a panaromic view of the adjacent towns of Lemery, Calaca, Balayan Bay, the Pansipit River, and the Virgin of Caysasay Church. The Family Suites are located on a separate property, just a 5 minute walk / 2 minute car ride from the main hotel.

A perfect place to stay in Taal, Batangas”

My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our 2nd anniversary at Tagaytay Heritage Town to revisit Philippine history through the ancestral homes that were built during the Spanish colonization. We chose Paradores del Castillo as our accommodation as it has a lot of good reviews, and I like that it has a garden and a view of the town’s entirety. Paradores del Castillo is located at H. Del Castillo St., Taal, Batangas. It took us 3.5 hrs from Makati to Taal, Batangas by car on a Saturday. Before entering the town, we saw some signage pointing us to Paradores. We just followed the signs (and Waze) so finding the place was super easy. Upon arriving at Paradores, we were greeted by the guard, who directed us to the gated parking area. There is an open parking for guests which is really convenient because it’s just beside the hotel. However, it is not a covered parking. Expect your car to get toasted the day after when you leave. Hehe. But it is okay. It is part of why we stayed there anyway, the wide open spaces, history and open air. :) The check-in time is 2:00 PM, but we arrived a little early so we were asked to wait. We were given cold drinks (yay!) and advised that we could roam around the common areas and the garden while waiting. The entire place is an ancestral house, with huge capiz windows, high ceiling, and wooden panels. The lobby is designed with blue articles and lovely chandeliers, which made the house look bright in contrast with its antique décor. I could say it is perfect. Once the room was ready, we checked-in at the reception and they gave us a map of the town. We were delighted that the receptionist even gave us the schedules of the ancestral houses and tips on how to best enjoy the tour of the town, which is to roam around by foot. The Room We booked a Superior Deluxe Room, which can accommodate three (3) persons. It has two (2) beds; one (1) single and one (1) queen-sized four-poster bed. The room has an antique feel because of the lightin

First class amenities in a provincial setting”

If you want to take a vacation in Taal Heritage Town and willing to pay for first class amenities (good service, hot shower, aircon, wifi, awesome buffet breakfast, the works!) , do stay at Paradores del Castillo. The place itself is a heritage house turned into this nice bed and breakfast place. Very appropriate for the heritage town setting. The buffet breakfast that comes with the price is superb! The restaurant has a good menu, as expected because it is run by the Triple V chain. The vintage decor and old-style wooden furnishings are lovely. The room is big enough for 2. Highly recommending this place!

Our stay in Paradores Del Castillo did not disappoint. Our room was very clean and cozy. From the moment we arrived until we checked out, the staff of the hotel were very accommodating and friendly. The food at the hotel's restaurant is also good, especially the breakfast buffet. The hotel's location is also conveniently situated near the old homes and museums so every spot you want to visit in Taal town is walking distance from Paradores. We will definitely recommend Paradores to our friends who want to go on a relaxed weekend getaway.

A most magical and perfect BnB”

Paradores Del Castillo is a recently (and impeccably) restored house and grounds that is perfectly appointed and run by the most caring, thoughtful and friendly staff we have ever had the pleasure of being hosted by. We were so happy and peaceful and spoiled there that we wished we could've stayed longer than our one night. A real treat for a visit to the fascinating Taal Historic Town -- wholeheartedly and passionately recommended.

It's walking distance to most of the galleries and places you want to visit (market, churches, etc.) but is still in a quiet and secluded area that allows you to relax and unwind. The staff is attentive, friendly and very accommodating. The hotel and grounds are well-maintained and there are very many instagrammabale nooks and crannies. Not only would I recommend Paradores del Castillo to my friends and families but I would definitely come back to visit!

Excellent”

Our stay was almost perfect, if only not because of the aftershocks that we experienced during our stay. We have planned to explore Taal during the overnight stay, but because of the earthquake, restaurants and even the 7-eleven store were closed early. Despite that, we still enjoyed our stay and had a good night rest, particularly at Casa Herencia. The place was huge, with so much space to move around. My 7-year old niece loved the feel/ambience of the room, saying that it seemed we were staying in an old castle. It has its dining area, complete with plates and utensils. The beds were comfortable and generous with the pillows as we had 2 ea. Linens smell wonderful. Manang, who was the caretaker of the house was really nice. Their staff are genuinely accommodating. You just have to know that their properties are situated apart from each other. Like where we stayed, it’s nearer the Basilica that we had to drive towards the main hotel (where breakfast is also being served), and the pool is located in a subdivision. They provide shuttle, though so not really an issue. If you are more adventurous, they are all walking distance anyway. For their breakfast buffet, they also had good options. We will actually be scheduling another trip perhaps before the summer ends in order for us to explore the place already. We will definitely be staying again at Paraderos del Castillo.

The Paradores is an old renovated turn of the century mansion converted into a hotel. ”

It is almost a century old private residence that is rich in history and owned by a wealthy family of Taal. There is a sense of going back in time. Although we stayed at a 2 storey villa a few blocks from the Paradores, nevertheless the villa which is a replica of a "bahay na bato", was decent and axcomodating. There are touches of modern amenities i. e. Air conditions, refrigerator and modern bathroom with cold and warm water also a TV. Other than that the room is charming and a throw back living in the past. Outside the room is oir private garden and a parking space. You can bring a beach chair and take a quick nap under a big shaded tree. The sorroundings are xlean and away from busy noisy streets. There are also no loiters such as dogs and cats. There is also a pool for guest use which is in another location only blocks away but a shuttle is provided by the Paradores staff. It was ice to have the pool for our personal family use and it was clean and bath towels were provided.

Worth the 5-hour commute”

Positive things: It is an exquisitely charming hotel! It takes you back in time when people led simpler lives. Of course we had the TV, AC, and water heater in our room, but the ambiance of the place is so alluring due to the multiple things/parts in the hotel which depicts the richness of our cultural heritage. The view deck and the garden offers a very relaxing view of the neighboring town and cool breeze can always be felt while relaxing. The interior design of the room was consistent and relaxing. All of the hotel staff are warm, friendly, and eager to assist. My partner and I found the breakfast exciting because the spread is unique to Taal (I especially loved the unlimited kape barako that they always offered). The ITaaliano resto in the hotel serves delicious food. We are not sure if it was the hotel owner whom we met on our first night in the hotel resto but if it was, kudos to him because we is very friendly. The town where the hotel is located is absolutely delightful. People are warm and friendly. There are a lot of things that you can do there: 2 magnificent churches, a miraculous well, and a lot of museums. The town also has a number of restos which you can try for very reasonable pricing. Not-so Positive things: Please steer clear off of the Calle A. Diokno street. There is a middle-aged Filipino man there who threatens to kill passersby. The hotel staff informed us that it is safe to roam around the town but since we were threatened by the man upon our arrival, it took away the first day's excitement. (not the hotel's fault but our overall experience of Taal) There were some mosquitoes in some parts of the hotel, which I think is typical in any part of our country but maybe just an advice for travelers/guests to bring some mosquito/insect repellent (because we didn't). If you are a smoker, expect the rooms to be non-smoking. I did not know this upon booking our room, I didn't see it in the description of the hotel accommodation email that I re

Dear Ms. Shekinah, Yes, it was the owner that you have met during your stay, he really makes it a point to try and welcome hotel guests personally when he is in Taal as he wants to make sure that all his guests are treated like family. You may not be aware that we have mosquito repellants available for free in the front desk. Meanwhile, we will investigate the man in Calle Diokno and will report to the Police but you think that he was just drunk and was not really serious. It is clearly stated on Agoda that we have a NO smoking policy in all areas within the hotel interiors. This “No smoking policy” is already a national law in the Philippines. Quaint Respite”

Paradores is a quaint and restful respite away from home in a historical setting. What a sweet little nook to end one's day in after touring the heritage homes of Taal. It is beautifully appointed--making one travel back in time without sacrificing the convenience of modern amenities. Our only problem was that the rooms weren't soundproof, which can be a pain when there is a big party taking place in the restaurant downstairs.

Frozen in time”

I booked a room for my mom and sister and they loved it. I keep hearing from my mom how she liked the "old setting" of the place from the outside upto the bathroom faucet and shower. She really like the fact that Paradores still has stationaries and pens in each room. Intended for guests to use should they want to write (mail) people from the hotel just like people used to do before e-mails came along. My mom said she'll be back for another night. Thumbs up! P.s: i didn't stay for the night, but i saw the place. I'd say that Paradores has exceeded my expectations for the amount that i paid. 😀

Very accessible and worth the price”

The hotel is quaint and comfortable, the staff are polite and service is prompt. The best feature is that it's walking distance to all the places of interest in Taal Heritage Town. Casa Recuerdos is just across the street, where you can rent costumes and have your photos taken. The swimming pool is nice, but could have been bigger. We stayed two nights on a weekend and the buffet breakfast was the same everyday - I hope they introduce a revolving daily menu. Food was okay, but not that great. With the hotel being owned by the Villavicencio family of Triple V group of restaurants, I expected better fare on the menu. While the hotel is generally clean, the restaurant area is not - the fabric table cloths are not changed often and were already stained. However, these are small shortcomings, and overall, it was a pleasant stay and given its ambience, location and service, it was worth the price. I will stay here again and will definitely recommend to friends.

This ancestral house is so well designed. All furniture are carefully chosen. You would definitely want to take pictures in almost every space in this bed and breakfast hotel. Very romantic ambiance, relaxing, peaceful.. While a pool and other amenities are not so important as stay time is consumed roaming around the rich historical locations of Taal/Batangas, an internet connection should be working for sharing of wonderful experiences in Taal.

Nice location ”

I am glad to change our hotel when I saw the location of Paradores. It is accessible to places of interest in Taal. It is an old house converted into a hotel, only few rooms available that is why it is not crowded and you can easily relax and enjoy the fresh air. Their staff were very friendly and very helpful with our concerns. And they have a fast and reliable wi-fi :) Though my only concern was the room on the 2nd floor were we stayed (with my husband) which does not have a bathroom, you have to go down at the back of their bar to access a shower and toilet, luckily the adjacent room where my father, aunt and uncle stayed have a bathroom, so we did not have to go down, but of course at night when we want to use it we have to be careful not to wake them up. But generally I am satisfied in my stay here.

Thank you Paradores staffs for being so accommodating from our check-in till our check-out. And we love the ambiance of the whole place, it was like a Time Travel. It just so happened that it was raining too hard on our stay, we weren't able to visit the tourist spots near the hotel. But the hotel itself is already like a mini museum that tells you stories . And so we still enjoy our short stay. Btw, buffet breakfast was superb too! Only down side was first, the electricity went off 2X on the day that we checked in and second was when the water from the AC in our room starts dripping. We noticed it only before our checkout when I decided to use the blower as it's so hard to dry my hair due of the weather. However, I wasn't able to use it, as the cabinet was wet from top to bottom along with the items inside it. But that's an easy fix. So nothing to worry about. Overall experience was great! We even got a printed picture of us from the reception before we leave, that was a plus!

Charming place to stay in Taal”

Pleased to have found this place for a quick weekend getaway in Taal. The place had quite charming details; rooms were clean and spatious and the buffet breakfast had decent choices. Garden area where breakfast was offered had nice views of the town, though there's a minor problem with insects in the actual dining area (common in garden areas in the PH so not too much of a problem). Did not get to try the swimming pool located in a separate area from the main hotel, but good that they had a shuttle to ferry guests to and from the hotel. Staff were very pleasant and attentive, and I thought it was very thoughtful that a travel brochure and map were provided upon check-in, and a "check-out kit" with a thank you letter and directions going back to Manila upon check-out. Location was excellent as it was near many places of interest. They also offer a tour (if you can't or don't prefer walking around), which I think is reasonably priced given the inclusions.

The cherry on top of stay in Paradores, aside from great food and place, is the service our family received from the staff. I remember one staff (Ms. Jane) going the extra mile, assisting my 6 yr old daughter to the rest room while we were having our breakfast. Kudos to Paradores for making sure each and every guest are well accomodated through the quality of service we receive.

a nice place to stay...”

Paradores del Castillo is a nice place to stay, it was like your staying in your own home, clean and quiet, the staff are all friendly, and accomodating.
