Best location with a superb view of Central Park”
Great experience, for the second time at the Helmsley Park Lane.We arrived late at night and had an upgrade to the executive suite with the Central Park´s viet, which makes all the difference while in New York. The suite had very confortable beds and was very clean. The room service is very fast and good.Next time, we´ll stay again at the Helmsley Park Lane, now, our hotel in New York.
Can't get much better than the Park Lane!”
Such a lovely time staying at the park lane hotel. Would recommend to everyone and anyone who's thinking of visiting NY! Great location and super clean, the most important things!
Excellent position, very comfortable ”
The Park Lane is in a fantastic location adjacent Central Park with city or park views, has spacious rooms and was ideal for our short trip and we could walk to most sights. 46 storey building so possible to have a room at high level - ours looking over the city - which we wanted. Very good rate deals available. Staff friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend and great value. Looked at several others in the area but delighted we opted for Park Lane and would definitely stay again.
Fabulous location, just don't eat there”
helmsley park lane is one of a best value high end new york hotels in a fabulous location overlooking central park. rooms are a good size and the hotel is reasonably modern and a very pleasant place to stay. get an executive room if you can as it comes with free wifi, free drinks at the bar, etc. but the food is terrible. the magnificent dining room should be the hotel's crowning jewel with panoramic views over the park. but breakfast is a utter disgrace for an intentional hotel. almost nothing on offer and what is offered is sub-standard and the service inefficient and rude. the same room in the evening should be packed and should be one of the best places to dine in new york. but the menu is small and uninspiring and as a result only the desperate or the foot weary dine there. its almost as if the owners don’t want you to eat there. so great place to stay, just plan to dine elsewhere.
Tired hotel in great location”
You can imagine that the Park Lane was a stunning hotel 20+ years ago. The main reception/bar area still looks very grand but the room we were given was tired and in need of a refresh. The location is the selling point of this hotel. They tell you at check-in that there is a $30 (excl tax) per night facilities charge that includes wi-fi and free drinks & canapés from 5-7pm in the bar. I didnt argue about this but did feel a little agrieved but it turns out at check-out i was only charged $60 (for 6 nights) which seemed fair as i had used the wi-fi and had visited the 'free' bar at least 3 times. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but there are plenty cafes and a couple of starbucks within a few minutes walking distance. The staff were very helpful & polite. We paid approx £115 and that seemed fair based on the location.
upscale hotel for business or leisure”
the best feature of the helmsley park lane hotel is its location on central park south. this hotel is the tallest building in the area, so you may wish to spend more for a room with a view on one of the top floors. note that rooms in this area are not inexpensive (fifth avenue is just a block or two away). rooms are spacious and very comfortable, but some of the furniture is a bit out of date. smoking rooms are available on request. bathroom amenities are very nice. while a majority of staff were absolutely professional, i found that one or two individuals could have been more courteous and competent.
It was wonderful Stay”
it was disaster when we got to New York due to heavy Snow Storm warning, But the hotel was just fine, the room is very clean and the park view was superperb. But due to the storm we are unable to accomplish our assignment. Other then that we dont have anything to complain about.
Beautiful park view ! ”
My mother and me stayed here for 3 nights recently and it's probably the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in NYC. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. large bathrooms with clean big bathtub(we need it japanese!) room are traditional interior that very warm and comfortable. Hotel staff were really fantastic. I will choose this hotel next time in NY again. its absolutely wonderful hotel that was well worth the money. only I hope wi-fi charges $12 per day could be free.
Lovely hotel across from Central Park”
My husband and l had a lovely stay here. We wanted a great location with a holiday vibe and the Park Lane easily fit this description. Also, everything was very new and modern, and the subway station was a 1~minute walk away. I would absolutely stay here again!!
Good hotel close to Central Park”
we went there from sweden for a weekend and had a great time in ny. alot to see and enjoy! very nice just to go across the street to central park and walk along the paths in the beautiful park. the hotelroom was very clean, good size, friendly staff and we got help with all our questions. tip! ask the conseriege for tickets to ex. empire state building etc. they have lower voucherprices!! i really recommend this hotel for weekends and if you want to stay longer maby add some extra money for a central park view we didn't eat at the hotel so i can't put a fair grade for that! (therfore i put a dot in nr 3.)
Great location but room service was slow”
This is a lovely old-fashioned New York hotel. It is right on Central Park and next to 5th Ave so a great place to sightsee. The rooms are small, especially the bathrooms and the room service was terribly slow and very expensive. The breakfast was very odd, lots of pasties, toast and cereal but no eggs or cooked breakfast options. When it comes to food, there are lots of much better places to eat that are nearby and I would not recommend eating at the hotel at all. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The doormen will help you get taxis. All in all it is a lovely hotel.
Amazing stay across from central park”
Park Lane Hotel is so perfectly situated for running in Central Park and walking the best parts of Manhatten that it made our stay feel magical.
Incredible Hotel & views of Central Park”
i have stayed at the plaza before just a few doors down from the helmsley which is out of this world - but a lot more expensive; the helmsley wasn't too far behind the plaza standards and is a fraction of the cost. it is a beautiful hotel and our central park view room was so magical and made us feel like we were truely in the very heart of nyc! just steps away from fifth avenue and a subway station directly across the street makes it so easy to get down town in a matter of minutes. staff so friendly and knew us by name. the gorgeous hotel bar harry's is great to kick start your evening out too. the best thing about the room is the oh so comfortable bed - which called your name at the end of a hectic nyc day of shopping and partying! will definately stay there next time i visit nyc :) no complaints at all
Traditional NY style hotel with exquisite view”
5 night stay during Mid May I used a special offer from Agoda to enjoy a top of the park suite at the hotel, i did not regret it ! axesome suite (50 sq meter) on the 36 th floor with direct view on Central Park however don't expect silence , NY is a noisy city and window isolation does not exist (I'm used to it so didn't mind) same for the doors with wide aperure on base level (almost 3 cm of the level), so light and other noises can happen (elevators or neighbors) bathroom needs renewing but is very functional and fluffy towels :) standard continental breakfast was included , this means : bagel , cream cheese, fruit salad and drink included everything else is to be paid and is costly my advise : don't take breakfast there, and enjoy the many places in NY for that and cheaper finally very welcoming staff and available for any requests.
Great stay! Perfect location!”
We had a great weekend at the Park Lane. It is close to everything we like to do with our children. We have a 3 1/2 year old and a 4 month old. The room was big enough and the staff was great! Wonderful stay and cant wait to go back!
Overall a great place to stay for sightseeing”
The rooms in this hotel are exceptionally spacious and decorated for NYC hotels (which tend to have small rooms). The staff are very obliging. The hotel's location and view of the park are brilliant. I would certainly stay here again.... ...but one criticism of this hotel: the communal areas are too small. The lobby, dining room and bar are all too small for a hotel of this size. The ground floor area in particular is poorly laid out. Competition for a table in the dining room for breakfast is fierce as it obviously isn't big enough for a hotel of this size. Nevertheless, a reall splendid place to stay!
Great location but there are other adjoining hotel”
Upon check in, front desk read my voucher and handed me 2 keys. Given rm 2015 and entered into a much bigger hotel room than most for the price. Upon checking the bathroom, though older had good basic needs for a traveler. Except the toilet seat had horrible inside stains which was not answered despite my calls. The room though it says int he contract with city view had the back building views. So much less for the Central Park South view! I would attach pictures if I could here. On check out I was given a bill of $130 for facilities usage. I argued this amount and discovered it meant for the wifi, 2nd floor welcome drinks and supposed free coffee which was not even mentioned upon check in. The wifi I had to argue was a feature I considered when booking for a hotel and saw it indicated in agoda that it was free. Only then did they let go. Was this necessary? There are many other hotels adjoining that is worth checking at the rate I paid for this 4 nights stay. Bed and the size of the room is however very comfortable. BTW I had to ask for a small refrigerator, cause the room didn't have any. Would I stay here again? NO
Great hotel great price”
Great. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The hotel was lovely. I would definitely stay at the Helmsley Park Lane again.
Great location and fair room amenities”
Lobby for check in is very small and reception are merely closed counters which remind me of ticketing counter in cinemas/train stations. My Park View superior king size room was quite big (according to New Yorkers friends) for NYC hotels. Amenities like bedding, bath and toiletries are good but you need to equip yourself with coffee/tea/sugar sachets (to make drinks using tap water since coffee maker is not provided) and your own bottled water. All other facilities except for the ironing board like wifi & room safe deposit are charged. The best feature is the location and the view (Central Park South). Very convenient for those of us who'd like to stroll 5th & Madison Avenue where all the up market shops are. Rockefeller Center, St Patrick's Cathedral and other NYC midtown Manhattan landmark are a few blocks away, all within walking distance.
International travellers beware of the extra charges when you book that are charged at the end of your stay.... taxes and charges for "free internet, phone calls and happy hour everyday" are charged at a block price of $33pp per day. So make the most of these "free" options! Great hotel and fantastic location, don't expect to get a park view other than Mondays or Tuesdays....
