    One night in Fiumicino”

We had an early flight out of Rome (6.30am) so we decided to stay in Fiumicino for one night so we could be close to the airport. We chose Al Porticciolo based on other reviews and proximity to the airport. The hotel itself is really cool and in a convenient location for restaurants and bars. We thought about going to the restaurant located in the hotel since it's supposed to have a Michelin star, but it was very expensive and the waitstaff gave us funny looks in our casual clothing. Needless to say, we ate elsewhere. The staff mostly doesn't speak English, but that wasn't an issue for us since we were only there for one night (and it was more like 1/2 night since we left around 3am to return the rental car). Parking was easy and right in front of the hotel. I was happy to see that they have surveillance on the street outside so I felt like our car was safe. Although I liked the hotel, I wouldn't stay for more than 1, maybe 2 nights, but that's simply because the shower in our room consisted of a bath and a shower sprayer/handle. You can't stand up and take a real shower unless you want to make a complete watery mess in the bathroom. Overall, it was a good choice for us and what we were looking for.

Very accommodating and easy to get to”

Great access to airport, very accommodating, great breakfast

Al Porticciolo is a great hotel to stay at if you need to be close to the airport. My girlfriend and I stayed there after a late-night flight that landed in Rome at 10:45pm. The person who worked at the front desk, staff, was extremely helpful, staying up late for our check in, arranging for taxis for us the next morning and, most importantly, storing our luggage at the hotel so we could travel around Italy for a few days with our large suitcases were safely stored for free (we had booked another night at Al Porticciolo a few days after our initial stay). Thank you again staff for being so accommodating and making our short trip up to Florence so easy! Real quickly, no matter the hour or the number of luggage, it should only be 15 euros for the trip to and from Al Porticciolo and the airport.

    Oustanding small hotel”

    Location and quality of room.

We stayed twice for one night at the beginning and end of our stay in Italy. We would strongly recommend the hotel for its convenience for anyone who needs to stay a night close to Fiumicino Airport. The room was excellent, the reception warm and friendly. There are good restaurants not least the Michelin-starred restaurant associated with the hotel itself. Better by far than an airport hotel.

    An unusual "airport hotel"”

super clean, fun bathroom (green plastic bathtub), warm and helpful owners, very elegant and excellent restaurant

Unlike most hotels one books for the single night before the flight home, this charming place is beside the river, only 10 minutes from the Rome airport, yet seemingly in a village completely removed from airplanes and travel. It happened to be my husband's birthday and I was afraid there'd be no place to have a nice dinner, but was I ever wrong. The restaurant associated with this hotel (the owner's son is a first class chef with cookbooks to his credit) merits several stars and was among the best meals we had on the whole trip. They specialize in fresh fish, plated as elegantly as you'd find in the finest restaurants in Rome, with a very good wine list featuring local wines. When the waitstaff learned it was his birthday, they offered us champagne on the house, added to a wonderful calamari starter and small pot de creme dessert, also on the house. Pricier than the average dinner but well worth it. The included breakfast the next morning was also better than most. We would absolutely return to this hotel and the capable hotel family that runs it.

    Leave your luggage behind”

Proximity to airport; good beds; friendly staff

Many travellers in transit, like us, choose this hotel for its proximity to the LD airport in Fiumicino. It's a charming hotel with clean, updated rooms. The staff are friendly and when our flight was delayed by two and a half hours, we were allowed to keep the room for an extra hour at no additional charge. All this said, when you're in transit, you tend to have a lot of luggage; particularly when you've been on the road for three weeks. So while this may be a minor point, the hotel management would do well to supply a few luggage supports in each room, which are otherwise so small, there's no other surface but the bed or bit of floor (one at a time, if you please) upon which to open them.

Small nice hotel but problematic transportation ”

The hotel is basic but nice enough. The problem is if you fly to Fiumicino Airport. All the taxis go to Rome and only a couple go to the area around the airport. Make sure you ask for a local taxi. It seems the hotel has a shuttle for 6 euros each way, although I was not told this upon booking. However, the shuttle only runs until 8 pm and starts st 8am. I arrived a little after 8 pm, and my only option to the hotel, 5 kms away, was a taxi that charged 30 euro. I needed to be back at the airport early,, before 8am and needed to go by taxi again, which the hotel did arrange for me. It cost me 15 euros. So, thinking that I should choose a hotel near the airport because I had a short but overnight layover, cost me 45 euros for taxis. I think this should be explained before booking. My reservation also included breakfast but since I needed a 7am taxi, no breakfast. The gentleman at the desk did make me a coffee.

This place was perfect for me, a brief ride from the airport, on the Isola Sacra that is the Tiber river delta. After reading some reviews that were critical of staff at this hotel, we were a little uncertain of what we would encounter. We shouldn't have been! The staff were delightfully friendly and helpful, our room was perfect for a overnight stop and there was ample parking over the road. We wouldn't hesitate to book there on our next trip to Europe and would commend the hotel to others.

    Nice Hotel on Rome Harbour”

    Clean room and nice area

We spent 1 night (september, 1st 2012) in this renovated hotel. The decoration of the hotel and the room is nice in the marine style. The breakfast was hearty and the carte of the restaurant, large and superior. Even the room was room, it was very clean and espacially the bathroom. The staff was thoughtful. Just a weak point, the internet access in the room was very low (room 1st floor) and we have to go in the lobby to get a correct connexion. Arround the hotel and on the harbour, there are many restaurants or fastfoods (summer season).

i have stayed here before and was taken with the practicalities, not a resort hotel, but good for an overnight pre-flight stay. their own restaurant is high class and well known locally, but a bit expensive. however there is a wide choice in the area, a taxi to the airport was € and receptionist asked what time i would like it without being asked.

    Modern Clean Location

The experience was nice. We needed to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. The staff was courteous, and arranged our taxi for the morning. Use caution with taxi price gouging. The room was very modern and clean. The shower did not drain properly. We left too early to know about breakfast.

Very good. The bright green bathroom and orange tiles in the bathroom were wonderful, as was the muted blue light in the hallways. We just needed to spend the night near the airport, so we didn't expect much. Its proximity to the Tiber (port) and the river emptying into the Mediterranean (only a 10 minute walk) was a delicious surprise as well.
