External Facade deceives pleasant interior!”
Known among cab drivers to be one of the more expensive hotels, Pause Landis Resort Wulai is worth making a repeat visit. The set dinner ranging between NT400 - NT600 offered by hotel restaurant is delicious and value for money. Hotel room with hotspring overlooking the river and mountain is great! Easy to reach hotel via the local bus 849 which stops almost in front of hotel but we took a cab @ NT100 per pax.
Very nice hotel with spacious room”
The hotel is located close to the bus station which the bus route operates from Xindian to Wulai. The decor of the hotel and rooms is very comfortable and stylish. The staff are all very helpful in information-giving or suggesting to us where to go. The room is spacious and the private bath with onsen water is very nice. Breakfast is included, and the room charge, though a bit high, proves to be value-for-money. If people don't want to stay in the hotel for dinner, the walk to Wulai Old Street is also convenient, or you can take the same to the terminus. We also tried the afternoon tea in the quiet afternoon.
Splendid Hot Spring Pool!”
I had one of the best experiences at Pause Landis in Taiwan. The room was not georgeous but simple and cozy. The room had a bath over looking the river but because it was 2nd floor or my room was at the far end, the view was okay. I could see the river, yes but I could also see the back yard of the hotel, which wasn't so pretty. The public pool hot spring bath was the best attraction in this hotel. I went in once at night and another in the morning time. Both time, it wasn't crowded at all. The water was very soft and it felt great. They also have a steam sauna and dry sauna inside the public pool facility and the facility is open for visitors, too.
Very good dinner and hot spring”
We did not aware this hotel is far from the Wulai old street and we walked in a wrong direction and took us a long time to reach the hotel. You should get off the bus on 2 stops before the terminal and you can find the hotel on your right just behind you. We booked the room with the breakfast and dinner. We are surprised the dinner was so good which has 10 courses and in beautiful presentation. I should have taken the pictures but we are so hungry and forgot. After the dinner, we had a high expectation for the breakfast but then you will be disappointed because it is just a very simple buffet. I hope it can serve the typical Taiwanese breakfast with congee with pickles but it did not. The room is spacious compared with hotel in Taipei and we enjoyed the hot spring bath tub in the room. We did not have time to try the other hot springs in the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed the stay in the hotel and would recommend to others.
First time at this place,”
We have visited Wulai several times over the years. This place is very convenient. Bus stop very close. Easy walk to town. Hot spring is extensive. Breakfast was good. Diner was really fine. The Landis chain really knows how to do it right!
Thank you for your letter, we will improve the problem you raised, and hope to provide you with better service.
A hotel great for relaxation”
Main attractions such as Wulai old street and Wulai waterfall are not near the hotel. Would suggest to take the bus in front of the hotel to reach these destinations. Walking is not advisable as the walking trail is narrow and dark at night. However, this hotel is one of the better hotels in Wulai with great set-up, great service and great room. The room is spacious and it has a personal bath which supplies hot spring water. It offers free snacks too. Would definitely recommend this hotel to couples. The room rate includes a free dinner. The hotel served fusion dinner. The soup and the beef was great. There is room for improvement for the taste of other dishes such as trio appetiser, fish and dessert.
So relaxing! ”
Coming from my life in Hong Kong where it is hectic and stressful, all my tensions seemed to melt away as soon as I arrived at this hotel. It is a good place to go an re-charge. There is not much to do or see in the area, but I didn't mind it at all. I just read books all day, enjoyed the hot springs and walked to the Old Wulai district each day.
nice hotel but less attractive location”
We like the public hot-spring facility and the private hot-spring bathtub in the room. However, it is a bit far away from the "Wulai main street". It takes about 15 mins to walk from hotel to the main street. What's more, the way to the main street is a road full of cars / buses, which is not safe to walk there. If by public bus, it's only 2 bus-stop away, while it takes 10-15 mins to wait for the bus. Most of the restaurants are in the main street, but it seems not safe to walk back to hotel at night. The next morning we planned a walk to 加九寮步道 (one of the local attractions). However, an accident happened. When we were at the entrance of 加九寮步道, there were two side-roads. A signage of "No Way Through" (此路不通) was shown in one side-road. So we took the other one - a slope. When my hubby climbed up to the top of the slope, he saw a house. At the same time, two dogs came out suddenly rushing to my hubby. They gave my hubby a bite badly and barked at us. I screamed for help but the dogs' master didn't come out. We were so scared and helpless! Later on I called hotel and policy, telling them our experience with the dogs. I gave them feedback that a "proper signage" should be posted in the tourist areas. The current signage in 加九寮步道 is really misleading to tourists like us! Comments on the hotel facility and service is very positive - but we will not go to Wulai again because of the horrible dog-bite experience...
Great hot spring!”
the room is of gd standard. enjoyed the complementary instant noodle bowl. hot spring inside room is big enuf while the public one is of gd standard too. a pity it only opens at 1pm. complementary breakfast was yummy. though u need to walk for a while to reach the wulai old str. but hotel is surrounded by little eatery and 7-11, so very convenience. there's one eatery betw 7-11 and spring-autummn wulai hotel the lady boss is very helpful and friendly and food is very reasonable priced!
Wonderful hotel with great public hot spring!!”
It is at close proximity to the Wulai village. View at the lobby is facing the moutains, the place is full of art crafts and very soothing. The room is spacious & very comfortable, the toiletries is of good quality, clean. People are polite. I can't think of a negative opinion. The dinner and breakfast are wonderful!
Wulai is a nice place and wulai Pause Landis is a ”
Wulai is a nice place and wulai Pause Landis is a nice resort /w reasonable price. I will back again.
Nice accomodation for a relaxing wulai trip.”
The resort is 15 to 20mins walk to the old street. With a comfortable stay and free mini bar. The room we booked was the river view. Due to the recent typhoon, many areas in wulai is still close, thus we didnt have a chance to hike and a confortable ambiemce was impt to us.
New Hot Spring experience”
I had one of the best experiences in Taiwan becuase of the hotspring. This hotel has public pool hot spring bath. There is a segregation for men and female though. Spent an entire afternoon soaking in them. No clothes are allowed. You can see the moutaineous view from these pools. Very scenic. The room is big and spcious with comfortable bed. Had a very good sleep at night becuase of the quietness and the hot sping soaks helps also! As Wulai is in the moutain areas, there are much greenery and less crowd in the area. Nearest tourist centres can be reached by bus or taxi. Breakfast is provided. Decent spread of serving of dishes. One of my most relaxing stay indeed.
A very high-class hot spring hotel in Wulai area”
this is one of the highest class hotel in Wulai area. Despite the high price of this stay, the room is clean and spacious. The Hot Spring is great with light smell of minerals. Great hotel in Wu lai.
Pleasant stay”
We had really high expectations for this hot spring hotel, as it's listed as one of the nicest ones in Wulai. It's easy to get to by bus (849) or taxi and checking in went smoothly. The staff were friendly and helpful and showed us how everything worked in our room. Even though we got the "Mountain View" room, the only view we had was the busy street that runs next to the hotel. It was also a bit noisy, as we could hear everything going on outside on the street, even though we were on the 3rd floor. I must say that the room was very spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The room was quite cold though, even after we adjusted the temperature. The hot spring bath, shower and toilet are all in the same room, and the bathroom door doesn't close properly so don't expect to have any privacy when using the bathroom. Also, we found it odd that there were only two big towels provided, seeing as there's a hot spring tub in the room. We had to use the same wet towels the next morning, as there's no hooks or rails to hang your towels to dry. The hot spring bath itself was great. Very spacious and clean, and there are many different options for lighting in the tub area. The bathrobes were very comfortable, too. We tried the dinner as well, which was fine. They provided a set menu, with an option of steak or chicken. The portions were small, but there were many courses, so we were quite full by the time the main course arrived. We didn't get to have breakfast, as we wanted to sleep in, and breakfast is only served until 10am. By the way, it doesn't seem that the hotel offers room service, but there is a café in the hotel that looked nice. In general, we probably wouldn't stay there again. The hotel didn't blow us away, it was just okay. To be honest, I think we can get a better deal somewhere else for what we paid. However, you might have a better experience if you get a "River View" room or one of the more expensive rooms.
Quality Hot Spring Hotel”
Pause Landis Wulai had very comfortable and nicely configured rooms and in-room hot spring that's nice for both couples and family. Restaurant and food selection could be improved, it was also not very easy to get to via public transportation. But the friendly staff and scenic setting offsets it.
Not bad if you never visited Volando next door”
Theres nothing much else than the onsen itself. Kind of surprised that there's so spa nor basic massage service for what is suppose a relaxing place. The service is friendly but rules are strict and staff inflexible. Some slight disappointments on inconvenience: (1) no extra toilet papers in the room (2) we checked in 2 hours later than their supposed check in time due to flight delay, but staff denied slight change in check out time. 11am is 11am, at most before 11.30am. (3) one restaurant in the hotel - the environment is comfy but the local food in Wulai town (10min walk from hotel) is more yummy and costs half as much. (4) dinner not inclusive in the room charge. Thus compared with Volando Urai, which price includes afternoon tea, dinner and supper, which quality and presentation is incomparable . (5) can use public onsen downstairs for one time only. This compares to Volando's unlimited use of public and outdoor Onsen.
Refreshing Experience”
because we were arrived late at night to checked in and the staff is kind enough to relocated our dinner banquet supposed happen on the first night as lunch for the next day. we ended up having 3 different meals on the second day we stayed. the food was 5 star graded quality. suitable for couple who love fine-dining. the room was alright, with modern fitting. we did not spend a lot of time there. instead we wandered around wulai and experiencing the hot spring.
Beautiful hotel resort, far from main attraction”
beautiful courtyard, and very clean hotel. friendly front desk, nice spacious rooms, and passable free breakfast. one drawback is the 20 minute walk to old wulai street under a hot and sweltering sun during summer. the free public baths included in your stay were a treat, but remember they are not coed and you must be fully naked. if you are already staying at the hotel, you can rent private hot spring rooms at a discounted rate. the private hot spring rooms were romantic and great for couples or families.
Pleasant Stay at Overpriced Hotel”
We booked two River view rooms and stayed for two nights at the hotel. Both rooms were cleaned but they looked a bit old (i.e. Moldy Mosquitos net at the shower area). One of the room (room no 212), although facing the river, when we looked down we could see an area that look like a garbage collection area...which is not very nice. Also, if you are traveling with kids below 12, they are not allowed to use the common pools area. I have a four years old with me, so I didn't get to use the facility. My older kids and my husband were lucky to get to use it. They said that the pools were great and the view from the pools were awesome. Staff were helpful and friendly. Overall, we have a pleasant stay at Pause Landis although the hotel is a bit pricey.
