PERFECT!! Love their service!! ”
Their service is awesome! Have booked for Three days 2 nights, though they have made some mistake on the room, but the staff willing to refund the money. I got sick on the last day and my flight will depart at night, the staff asked me to rest in the single room until i felt better. Awhhh... It's so touching!! I really appreciate everything he has done for me! The decoration is really nice, if you like those traditional building, then you must stay here. the only thing I would like to comment is the location, it's hard to find parking, and it would take at least 15-20 minutes walk to Komtar. I will definitely come back again if I have the chance to visit Penang.
Pleasurable stay ”
The overall impression was good. Very cosy place to relax and it was a perfect place for us because we were on a laidback food hunting trip. The condition of the room is a bit old but it compliments the characteristic of the hotel. The wall is a bit thin.. So u can actually hear whatever that is happening next door.. That's the only downside
Lovely stay in a friendly hotel”
Wonderful stay with friendly owner and staff. The hotel is a renovated Chinese shop-house and located within fifteen minutes walk of the old town centre; also five minutes to a modern shopping centre and the central bus terminus.
Hard to find fault with”
For the money, this place was outstanding; a beautiful, renovated shop house within easy walking distance to the most interesting districts (actually in a characterful district); super-clean; extremely friendly and helpful staff. Gret coffee and a decent food menu in the cafe area too.
Great value for the price you're paying!”
Nice place in the middle of town, no connected bathroom. The bed provided is too soft, will be problematic for people with back problems. Room comes with breakfast and it was decent. Overall it was a good value for the place
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing”
We were greeted with our names instead of 'Who are you?'. The attentive and friendliness of the owner who run the place. Heritage building and it was kept to original with modern amenities. the art deco was great, we didnt feel like it was a hotel but more of a home. Warm welcome. Bfast was great, prefered a bigger portion but it was really good. I would stay here anytime.
The place is better than from images ”
We enjoyed the the place so much. It looks so much better than the images on agoda and I feel more cozy with wooden design. I and my friends really love it and would love to come back many times. The host was really nice and friendly too.
What a great place! Great located in Georgetown! ”
Wochenende loved to stay here. The staff was very nice, the rooms are very clean. There is a market almost next door where you can get great local food in the night! You can walk to the most attractions like little India, chew jetty, times Square... I would stay here agagain. Little cons: - as all is made of wood, even the wall to the neighbors, you can hear everything from the person next door, as if you were in the same room.
Close to Komtar, friendly staff, downtown GTown”
When we went there it was Chinese New Year, and there was a message on the guesthouse's door to call the hotel staff in case we arrived. Being tourists we didn't have SIM in our phones to call them, but a Chinese family across the road who were celebrating New Year helped us by calling the person who was actually in the guesthouse but probably didn't hear the knocking on the door or door bell. One of the guesthouse's personnel, Jason (really cool guy), told us everything we needed to know from eating to places of interest in Penang in just under 5 mins on the map. My only complaint is that the hotel wifi wasn't great, but they had a problem with the router's position which Jason tried his best to fix. The guesthouse has bunker style beds, really terrific Air Conditioner, clean rooms and a shared washroom. Also, it's 5 mins walk to Komtar (where you can catch all the buses in Penang) and is in the downtown Georgetown where you can visit everything there is to see in Georgetown. Breakfast was plain and simple but still awesome (Kaya, Jam, Penut butter, toast, coffee and tea). Actually it was the hotel who introduced us to Kaya, which we fell in love with. On our last day, on our request they called us a taxi to the Penang Jetty. Overall, it was a great experience staying at the Pavilion. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is more than 100 years old and made almost all of wood. It was quite a surreal experience in a good way to stay there. I would definitely go back and stay at Pavilion if I ever get a chance again to visit Penang. The guy other than Jason, if you're reading this then thank you to you as well! :)
Friendly staff but a little ”
We booked the room 3 months ago and we never contact the guest house until we arrived at the guest house. We got a shock when seeing the door was closed and seems like nobody was in the house. After calling and pressing the door bell for sometimes, finally a boy opened the door for us. There was miscommunication between the owner and his partner that no one will check in on the particular day we booked. Finally we got our rooms after he verified our booking receipt and did some last minute room cleaning for us to check in. There was no other guests on that day we stay. The cafe was also closed down since a month ago. However, the owner and staffs are friendly and helpful. They showed us where to get the nice food in Georgetown. The triple bedroom that we stayed was not clean but it still acceptable. Some dust and cobwebs can seen at the desk and under the bed frame. If you don't mind the cleanliness, it still a good option for a short stay. 5mins walk to 1st avenue and Komtar .The cendol stall at night which is outside the guesthouse, is delicious! Contact the guesthouse personally before booking as it might be closed down or change owner in the future.
Visit in Aug ”
We had a wonderful stay at Pavilion Coffee Guest House. Johnny, the owner, is friendly, helpful and hospitable. We stayed in the mini-hut, which is a small low-ceiling and small room up in the attic. As we are petite, It suited us fine and cosy!! But if you don't like stairs or if you are tall or big person, you shouldn't book this room. The location is good and quiet. Some of the best late-night street food are on the same street!
Peaceful, Friendly and Clean”
The premises is marked by the pavilion coffee house sign. It's easy to miss this getaway from the main city tourist drag. Despite not having english as his first language, our host tried very hard to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this place and would love to stay here again.
enjoyable cosy stay”
6 of us age 18 had fun staying in the 6 people dorm. Air conditioning could be improve, door knobs are a little spoilt. Anyway, they have a nice water dispenser there . Wifi signal could be stronger. Satisfied overall, would come again.
Jason's an Angel! ”
We had arrived late in the night with a 6 yr old and Jason the proprietor not only ensured that there was someone waiting up for us, he went as far as inquiring if we were alright and well settled in personally. The staff was really thoughtful to give us extra blanket/towel/pillow without being asked. All in all, it was wonderful to have Jason as a host, who was knowledgable and enthusiastic with his guesthouses/cafe and all things Penang!
It's a wonder guest house I ever stay.... The room was clean, comfortable and cozy. Their morning breakfast are served differently everyday....Jason was a nice and friendly man. He recommended us the nice local food ( only local people will visit not those for places which advertise for tourists ). During that few day, we ate the best Char Koay Teow with Duck Egg, Char Kuey Kar with Duck Egg, Hokkien Mee, White Curry Mee, Hokkien Char, Lor Bak & Lor Mee etc....in Penang. Next trip to Penang, I would definitely book back the same guest house again...
Good location with friendly staff”
This guest house is perfect for couples on a budget who expect to spend the day exploring Penang. Includes aircon, wi-fi, and free breakfast. The owner, Jason, is very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the shared bathroom.
One of the best stays in 3 months of traveling!”
We were so pleasantly surprised by this amazing guesthouse, homestay, hotel... whatever you want to call it! The owner is so friendly, and makes you feel right at home. We got a lot of tips for trying out the street food in Georgetown, and the food is even amazing at Pavilion! I had the bento twice! The breakfast is also pretty good, something different every day. The guesthouse is in a beautiful old Chinese shop house, with lots of original features. The shared bathroom is just a few steps away, and clean. The bunk bed is a pretty high climb, just so you know. We had a lovely stay!
staying in a historical building row”
the place were quite friendly for all type of travelers. since the owners are partners, one from taiwan and another is a local penang, we did quite nice hangout together discussing about culture and food surrounding, and the owner did provided us many useful information of what to and what don't in penang.
The staff are helpful and very attentive. ”
Pleasure and enjoy the whole trip in penang. The home stay hotel also close to local restaurants. Most of the local food can get over the area by walk and one big shopping mall near by too 5 - 10 mins walking distance. The hotel also clean and comfortable but one thing to improve which is the air-con. Anyway what you paid and what you will get for. Lastly, overall good and above =).
Atmospheric, lovingly restored, welcoming staff”
We thought we booked an Ensuite room, but when we arrived, found out that was not the case. Jason and his team went out of their way to make sure we moved ASAP, and they were so welcoming we decided to extend our stay. The beds were comfy, the top family room very character full. Super clean white cotton bedding, the entire place was exceptionally clean. There are four rooms, 1 has an Ensuite shower room, the other 3 share, - we had no problems with this. Everyday we were served a different, interesting breakfast. On the last morning of our stay we had to be up and out early, (6am) - Jason got up to carry our bags downstairs and make sure we had a drink, and biscuits for our journey.
