The place is better than from images ”
We enjoyed the the place so much. It looks so much better than the images on agoda and I feel more cozy with wooden design. I and my friends really love it and would love to come back many times. The host was really nice and friendly too.

nothing but a place to sleep”
I booked this guest house on the internet due to making a last-minute trip to Penang. But I apparently overlooked the fact that it has no facilities whatsoever! When I arrived I asked the woman who checked me in about the internet, and she looked confused, saying "I'm new" and she would have to ask her boss (who of course was not there; when I asked later in the day it turned out he would not be back until midnight). I then asked for a map, since I couldn't access one online, and after rifling through the pamphlets in the lobby she couldn't find one. I went back up to the room and found one left by a previous guest, so I brought it down and asked her to mark our location on the map (and to write the address of the guest house, in case I got lost). But she could not! At this point it became clear that there was going to be no service here at all. Before going to sleep I had verified that there was, at least, hot and cold water in the lobby. (I had brought my own coffee-making equipment--good thing, since there was no kettle in the room, not even a glass or drinking water!). But when I went downstairs early in the morning, only the cold water spigot was working! So no coffee until I wandered around and found a coffee shop in the area. The one good feature: the air-conditioner was efficient and quiet. In short: I would never stay here again, the lack of internet in itself is a deal-breaker. Would not recommend it to anyone else either, unless price is the only objective and you don't need any service from the staff.

What a great place! Great located in Georgetown! ”
Wochenende loved to stay here. The staff was very nice, the rooms are very clean. There is a market almost next door where you can get great local food in the night! You can walk to the most attractions like little India, chew jetty, times Square... I would stay here agagain. Little cons: - as all is made of wood, even the wall to the neighbors, you can hear everything from the person next door, as if you were in the same room.

Good to move around the city as it is close to the bus terminal or you can even work to the tourist attractions. Room is simple but the bath room is a bit old. you cannot use hot water for shower at night but it is not a big issue as it is very hot even at night.

Close to Komtar, friendly staff, downtown GTown
When we went there it was Chinese New Year, and there was a message on the guesthouse's door to call the hotel staff in case we arrived. Being tourists we didn't have SIM in our phones to call them, but a Chinese family across the road who were celebrating New Year helped us by calling the person who was actually in the guesthouse but probably didn't hear the knocking on the door or door bell. One of the guesthouse's personnel, Jason (really cool guy), told us everything we needed to know from eating to places of interest in Penang in just under 5 mins on the map. My only complaint is that the hotel wifi wasn't great, but they had a problem with the router's position which Jason tried his best to fix. The guesthouse has bunker style beds, really terrific Air Conditioner, clean rooms and a shared washroom. Also, it's 5 mins walk to Komtar (where you can catch all the buses in Penang) and is in the downtown Georgetown where you can visit everything there is to see in Georgetown. Breakfast was plain and simple but still awesome (Kaya, Jam, Penut butter, toast, coffee and tea). Actually it was the hotel who introduced us to Kaya, which we fell in love with. On our last day, on our request they called us a taxi to the Penang Jetty. Overall, it was a great experience staying at the Pavilion. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is more than 100 years old and made almost all of wood. It was quite a surreal experience in a good way to stay there. I would definitely go back and stay at Pavilion if I ever get a chance again to visit Penang. The guy other than Jason, if you're reading this then thank you to you as well! :)

      PERFECT!! Love their service!! ”
Cleanliness, Staff service and room decoration
Their service is awesome! Have booked for Three days 2 nights, though they have made some mistake on the room, but the staff willing to refund the money. I got sick on the last day and my flight will depart at night, the staff asked me to rest in the single room until i felt better. Awhhh... It's so touching!! I really appreciate everything he has done for me! The decoration is really nice, if you like those traditional building, then you must stay here. the only thing I would like to comment is the location, it's hard to find parking, and it would take at least 15-20 minutes walk to Komtar. I will definitely come back again if I have the chance to visit Penang.

The Furniture and interior decor is splendid, Great Location - very near the Komtar bus station, Very freindly & helpful Manager (name- Jason)
Very pleasant stay and good vibrations. Great decor. The Manager Jason has another place called Rain Hill which is equally good. I call it the cardboard museum as everything is made from cardboard(chairs, tables, beds, etc..) and each room has a theme. Even if you are not staying there just go to have a look, its just accross the road

I will not visit to this hotel anymore. There is no staff inside the hotel. It seem like ghost hotel. When i enter the bathroom (private bathroom * not shared bathroom), I saw shit inside the toilet bowl. This totally destroy my holiday mood. Besides, we can hear the sound of people (eg. talk, cough) during night. There are no breakfast provided!! Besides, I saw the equipment of kitchen very dirty and covered by dust. This is not qualify as hotel.

Friendly staff but a little ”
      staff, street food, comfort bed
We booked the room 3 months ago and we never contact the guest house until we arrived at the guest house. We got a shock when seeing the door was closed and seems like nobody was in the house. After calling and pressing the door bell for sometimes, finally a boy opened the door for us. There was miscommunication between the owner and his partner that no one will check in on the particular day we booked. Finally we got our rooms after he verified our booking receipt and did some last minute room cleaning for us to check in. There was no other guests on that day we stay. The cafe was also closed down since a month ago. However, the owner and staffs are friendly and helpful. They showed us where to get the nice food in Georgetown. The triple bedroom that we stayed was not clean but it still acceptable. Some dust and cobwebs can seen at the desk and under the bed frame. If you don't mind the cleanliness, it still a good option for a short stay. 5mins walk to 1st avenue and Komtar .The cendol stall at night which is outside the guesthouse, is delicious! Contact the guesthouse personally before booking as it might be closed down or change owner in the future.

Well the guest house is cute but really small. Unfortunately the stuff was not there when we arrived with the fery at noon. And the thing is often there were no one to ask anything because no one was there. Also no one explained us the door so we were standing for closed door. But the stuff is really friendly and helpful.
