Beautiful Rustic Boutique Guest House”
The first time I saw photos of Pawon Cokelat online, I thought what a beautiful and pleasant place! Without hesitation, I'd booked it but for one night as the other nights were taken. We'd arrived about 4 am in the morning and the staff kindly let us rest in the lounge and served us tea. Later, we left our bags to explore the area a bit, which is quite rustic in its own right. Just after 10 am, we were offered to view 2 rooms since the tenants checked-out early. It was certainly a relief that we get to rest in our room by then! Pawon Cokelat is a well-thought-out, beautifully designed and landscaped guest house. The owner obviously loves plants as they are everywhere. The dining area is rustic with the tables having old sewing machine metal footing complete with the stepper and the wheel. The rooms are minimalist with one exposed brick wall painted white. Besides nasi & mee goreng, there are also western options for breakfast. This is a relief as many guest houses and hotels serve only local food. It is also close to the Tugu train station; you can hear the announcements every now and then. It's just 5-10 minute walk away. So is Jalan Malioboro. I will stay here again if I come back to Jogjakarta. Such a lovely place!

Instagrammable guesthouse ! ”
My friend and I had a comfortable stay at Pawon Cokelat Guesthouse for two days. I will definitely come again with my husband some other time. One thing we missed to have a try is their chocolate since our schedule is already occupied with a lot of nice places nearby. Among the great thing is this guesthouse is very accessible and near to the famous Malioboro Street, within walking distance, and quite safe. The neighbourhood is also very peaceful, and people around are very helpful especially in giving direction and information. Murals on the wall at their alley are quite entertaining, done by the locals. Friendly staff I must say. We were lucky to get a room during walk-in, as this place is fully booked most of the time. Instagrammable: The awesome interior was done by the son of the owner.

Cute and convenient”
Location - Once you've figured out the alleys, it should be easy to get to Pawon Cokelat. Since it's located behind Jln Malioboro and Jln Sosrowijayan, cheap food + shopping + tours + car/bike rentals are all sorted. Noise pollution - Ongoing construction surrounding the guesthouse. Work goes on til about 9/10pm. Food - Breakfast options: American (with egg + sausage + toast + veggies) / Fried noodles / Fried rice + Coffee / Tea. They don't heat up the coffee + tea, so they get cold really fast in the morning. Bottled drinks are available. Room - Comfy, but hopefully they'll add more sockets in the room. Right now, only one socket. There were three of us, and with all our gadgets, one just wasn't enough. We resorted to using the TV's USB port (which gives off static electricity, so be careful!), and also the A/C's socket. If you get the extra bed, it can be hard to move around the room. Bathroom - No hot shower, but water warm enough in the morning and at night. There's shampoo + shower gel + soap, but I would recommend bringing your own. Public areas - Comfy. Don't forget to chill on the rooftop at night! Wifi - Slow. Once everyone else has gone to bed however, the speed picked up. Overall, a photogenic guesthouse, so you better get used to other guests clicking away while you eat / chill.

Affordable Accommodations Close to Malioboro St.”
If your looking for a great place to stay that is close to all the out door shops on Malioboro Street look no further. This guesthouse is nestled within the dense neighborhoods of Yogyakarta and just minutes from the Yogyakarta railroad station. The new construction offers a semi open modern concept with concrete walls and wrought iron accents, yet still posses a natural charm with green lush house plants and vines that dangle along the hallways and staircase. It’s a little tough to find, but there are a few black and white street signs right outside Ps. Kembang Street and Sosrowijayan Street. The deal we booked offered breakfast in the morning. A choice between two eggs any style with toast, sausage and half a seared tomato or nasi goreng (fried rice with egg). Tea and coffee is only served in the morning. The wifi is fast and there’s plenty of seating in the common areas. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and adequate with A/C. Power adapters can be provided for temporary use at the front desk. At this time I do want to note that there is no mini douchette attached to the toilet and no hot water. Instead there is the pail dipper combination and the cool showers are refreshing especially after a long day of walking in sun. There’s a laundry service available that charges per kilogram and has a 24 hour turn around. This place is definitely flashbacker friendly.

Experiencing traditional Yogya in the heart of the city”
Located in a small alley just behind the very famous tourist spot in Yogya 'Jalan Malioboro'. Pawon Cokelat guest house offers a cute and comfortable stay for youngsters to experience Yogya in a simple and cozy way. Room is clean &comfy (but no hot water available - too bad), friendly & helpful staff, and had no problem whatsoever during my stay. Definitely recommended. Plus, good value for money! :)

Lovely Guesthouse”
We only stayed one night while in Yogyakarta, but wished we had stayed there for the previous nights as well. The Guesthouse is just off the main road, so close to most of the restaurants, tour offices etc. Rooms and public area were modern and very clean. The only downside was the bathroom, which was rather old. Some of the staff spoke excellent English, but even though others didn't, everyone was superb and helpful. We had to have breakfast really early, because we were going on a tour and everything was super quick, so we could enjoy a lovely breakfast before leaving. All in all a lovely stay, especially loved the outside patio. Definitely recommended!

A good place to stay on budget”
pawon cokelat is a very homey bed n breakfast. the location was well put too. it was in a small alley right in front of the YK station. It is also within walking distance to malioboro street. However, it is hard to find a parking if your traveling with a car since the alley is right in front of a busy street. luckily you can park your car in YK station for a parking fee. Overall it was a good stay. 4/5.

A minimal guesthouse in the heart of Jogja”
I had an amazing time in Jogja and I was glad that I found this gem in the heart of the city. It's very close to the main shopping strip Jalan Malioboro, Tugu Train Station and TransJogja bus stop that goes to the airport (it's only IDR3600!). I like the design style of the guesthouse; the exterior looks hip and trendy. You can hangout at the beautiful garden on the rooftop at night! Room is very limited, so be sure to book early.

Great value”
This guesthouse is very close to Malioboro Street but is not the easiest place to find as it is down some narrow allies which you cannot access by taxi ( only on foot). Once you have found it once you will have no problems. Basic, but good value.

Great Place to Stay”
We arrived early than our expected check in time. Staff was helpful in getting our rooms ready. Room is cleaned and nice. Breakfast for me was good enough. We were required to let the staff know the day before what we wanted for breakfast so that they can prepare accordingly. Location wise - it is within walking distance of Malioboro street. There's also a few restaurants and cafes located near by the hotel. Overall i am glad that i stayed here.

Good for the price”
For the price,it's a good bargain. The place was quite clean&neat, breakfast was good, and location was near tourist areas (Malioboro). It was also located at Pasar Kembang which has options to eat.The only downside was that it was not as instagrammable as reviews&located at an alley which even cars can't get in.

Finding the guesthouse a bit tricky”
The guesthouse was located right behind malioboro street, but finding access route to it was a bit tricky. The owner should put a bigger signage at the entrance. Nice little guesthouse, but wifi connection at my room was bad.. And shower head did not work properly. My friend and I were 2 young women, so we found out that the access route to this guesthouse a bit dark and scary at night. Not suitable for solo traveller & couples.

Great location, basic facilities are enough. Friendly staff.”
My second stay in here. It really has a strategic location because near to Malioboro street and the main station. Basic facilities are enough for my stay, though you won't get any extra mineral water for the next days because it is a service in advance. But, only thing that problem is there a little flood due to the air conditioner inside the room. The price is fair for those who want for rest only. Surely, I will be back here in my next trip.

Budget Hotel”
Value: a very cheap hotel which provide good place to sleep. Location: located in the small alleys and 50m-100m to Malioboro Street. Once in Malioboro Street, you can get food, drinks, convenience store and night market. Cleanliness: floor doesnt feel clean. Toilet have a lot of stain but still ok. Saw rat running around the lobby and dining area for 2 consecutive days. Staff: ok. Facilities: just a basic hotel providing minimal facility for the price paid for. No hairdryer available. Breakfast is good and prepared fresh when u enter the dining area. . Overall, this hotel is ok. Suitable for budget traveller who is seeking for a comfortable place to sleep. Love the design of the hotel. Room is small with just some walkways to move around. Linens are clean but toilet is moldy (reveal that the hotel has been in operation for some time). Loca

Nice design guesthouse”
The guesthouse location is good. near to train station and also Malioboro street which u can get everything here. The staff here is nice and helpful although most of them can't speak english. But when we have problem with the room, they solve it immediately for us. The only concern I have is they do not provide hot shower and the if u shower at night, the water is freaking cold......

good location but quite expensive”
This guesthouse was very well located but I think the price was too expensive. Quiet place but the bed was not comfortable.

Good place to stay while traveling”
Staffs are very friendly, greet us everytime and prepared hot water when requested; room and toilet are clean and mattresses are comfort; although the hotel is in a small lane, but feel safe when walking back to hotel at night. However, the wifi at my room, room 3 has no signal, and only can online at lobby.
