Fantastic Family Getaways.”

Our first amazing trip to Tioman island and stay 3D2N at Paya Beach Spa & Dive Resort seems too fast. Ride at 9am Blue Water ferry, took 1.5hrs smoothly reach Paya beach, got hotel staff welcoming us and take care our huge luggages. During our stay, all of the hotel staffs are really friendly, good Covid-19 SOP adherence and amazing front access bungalow that makes our family love it much. You guys should look for Nesan, the room manager of Paya Beach Resort, we are really lucky to meet him as he could arrange a private boat trip during CMCO and monsoon time, 4 hours ride on the private boat visiting duty free shop, two snorkeling and diving spot with a crystal clear water + coral fishes. Our second day to walk around at seaside and family jungle track to the rock fall river, it was amazing. A very exotic place for us to visit again after monsoon time. A special thanks to Nesan for his great hospitality when we were there, an amazing resort that worth to visit again soon. One more thing, the beach club restaurant is above than our expectation, reasonable price and all foods are really delicious!!! Good job, Nesan and Paya Beach Resort team! Well organize n clean beaches with snorkeling spot in front.”

We had room with lake view, cozzy n quiet,i like it more compare to sea view chalet.Room are overall clean n tidy wt cleaner came every day. Matters are kinda old but still comfortablity are ok,only one of the single bed are too old u can feel the springs pocket clearly. Environment are clean n well organize, all staff are friendly even the maintenance staff. Breakfast are very disappointed, really not match the standard. Seriously needed improvement. Clean beaches nice to hv sunbathing n quiet chilling time. (actually,we all needed to be a responsibility traveler, keep the cleanliness of the beaches n the sea) Several dive shop here,i strongly recommend Divers Cove at Paya beach resort.Izaq and Matt, very professional n friendly Dive master. I took a refreshing dive wt Izaq at pool before dive due to my last dive was already a year ago He did a good job to make sure I'm totally ready,n boost my confidence as well(i had equalize problem due to bad experience with shitty dm when i took my first open water long ago ).Matt are taking good care of us n we had good dive together,i felt calm n relaxed to dive wt. This is really important to me. The snorkeling in front of the beaches, coral are back to live more n beautiful then before now due to the climate change, quite many beautiful large coral to see,we also saw turtle n young black tips here around the small rocky island. Just to be aware there's many rocks on coastline,u can go by jetty to snorkeling when its low tide. Duty free shop are available here,so,enjoy cheap chilling beers as u like.(closed at 10pm) Restaurant are available in front of jetty n also at the back of the paya beach resort. Weekend are very crowded. Jungle tracking are a must do to witness the awesomely beautiful mother willow tree (also name:Ficus Benjamina),villages claim she has been 300/400+ years old, really beautiful. With respect when u visit her. Enjoy rock falls on ur way dawn.Half hour tracking. Clear path or ask the counter sta

Finding a Tioman resort? Paya Beach Resort will always be my only choice”

Staff over at Paya Beach Resort is really really helpful. I see that there are many people that made an unpleasant comment but I am not really sure why. For the money spent to enjoy the activities packages available and the really good customer service from both the resort staff and staff at the HQ made me feel comfortable and the urge to go Tioman again. Faced some issue when I was there but the staff over at Paya Beach Resort helped me settle it with a call. Despite taking so much of their time, they made sure to make me and my family feel at home. As for cleanliness, I have seen many reviews that it wasn't clean. I did not have high hopes but I decide to give Paya Beach Resort a chance. Not only did it not disappoint, the staff did thorough checks and made sure everything was good for the stay. This resort made my family vacation a really pleasing one. Good job to all the staff over at Paya Beach Resort! Maintain the standard! I will be back! Thank you!!!

Chill, chill, chill!”

Right on the beach, totally laid-back atmosphere.

We live in KL and flew to Tioman with Berjaya from Subang - an easy flight and very quick. We were met at the airport and taken to the water taxis just across the road - about 15-20 mins to the Paya Beach. Paya Beach 'village' is basically the resort, a few little shops and restaurants and a chalet hotel - not a great deal but pretty much everything you need for a few days. Let me say here that we had a really lovely stay at the Paya Beach - we totally relaxed, I'd stay there again with visitors. It's not glitzy, but it's very clean (except the pool, which was fine but not crystal clear). Our beach front room was really nice, except that it had a slightly mouldy smell (but we've had that in a 5* in Jamaica too, so there you are!). The a/c was great, the shower was lovely, the beds and particularly the pillows were very comfortable. A fridge in the room would have been nice, but the one serious recommendation I would make is to add a shower curtain to the shower door - it was impossible not to soak the bathroom floor. Staff very pleasant, if a little laid-back! Food, fine - tasty and fresh (we didn't try the buffet). Sea, lovely - we don't dive but there were loads of dive trips, so it's clearly a popular place for divers. The resident manager deserves a special mention. He simply could not have been more friendly, helpful and charming. The Paya Beach is just a really nice place to stay.

Villa Beach Front.. ”

We been here for 6 days and 5 nites for celebrate my husband birthday. My husband got a suprise of birthday cake during our dinner at the coffee house from the GM of the resort, Mr Sentil and The Team. We flatten with the hospitality given by Mr Sentil and the team.. Normally, we got to ask the hotel for the arrangement of suprise for someone that we love on their or our spcial date rite? But this one, i totally not involved.. Mr Sentil and The Team did suprised me and my husband at the same time. With such hospitality, personalised service, initiative and friendly staff, i can say, this resort is full of gems.. For first time experienced of Tioman Island, i felt worth paying every penny spent.. Food is nice. Go for ala carte menu if u dont like the buffet. The price is resonable. Not expensive if compare to others Seafood restaurant such as Aunty Paya Seafood Restaurant located behind the resort. Beach Bar is good place to hang up and drink your beer till midnite. its cheap. Tioman is duty free island.. Last but not least, i give 10/10 to Mr Sentil and the Team.. Will definitely come back again soon..

Amazing trip”

I and my wife went for the first time to Tioman island and we are really confusing about choosing the best beach. We found Paya beach is a good option because of it beautiful and there is a small village near to the beach which is a good point for tourist how to want to know more about local people and more shopping options. In the resort, we found all the staff is friendly and they try to help as much as they can. Farouq is a nice guy he is our favorite option to talk with because he has good communication skills. You should no there is no wifi in the room and the internet in the hotel and the island, in general, is very bad. I recommended this resort to my friends who plan to visit this island very soon.

For us the best location on the Tioman island.”

If you are looking for a nice and calm place to stay on the Tioman island, the resort would be a good choice for you. It is situated directly on the beach and there are not too many people there. For malaysia it is normally clean and the food is also typical for the malaysian cuisine. Do not expect an european breakfast, lunch or dinner but for us the malaysian cuisine was very delicious. After seeing the other resorts and places on Tioman, i would always prefer the paya beach resort cause it has the best location and it offers everything you need for your stay on the island.

Perfect resort”

Hello, We stayed in Paya resort in December'2020 and our experience was really fantastic and unforgettable with all the good time memories from the resort. As per my kids this is the best holiday they have spent . All this become possible because of the Paya resort staff and specially the resort Manager. He really knows what the guest needs and always adjust as per the guest requirement, he is the best manager I have seen so far and a real GEM of the Paya resort. Regarding the resort, all the facilities are excellent whether the room, restaurant , or pool. All the hotel staff are really cooperative and always ready to help. Even they took us for the trekking , arranged the special vegetarian meals, life jackets and many other things . I am sure one will not regret the decision to visit the Paya resort, a good destination to experience beach, sea and flora n fauna. Happy holidays.

Exceptional”

We spent 6 nights at Paya beach Resort which was well placed close to the beach with glorious sunsets. The hotels beach restaurant was well placed on the beach with good food and reasonably priced although the restauarnt was under staffed and took a long time for the food to arrive. We booked a standard room by the pond where a family of monitor lizards swam/lived the largest was 1.5m but not dangerous very exciting! We changed our standard room because it was a bit small and in need of renovation and the pond did smell a bit, to a superior room by the pool, slightly bigger and better standard. But monkeys came visiting everyday and caused havok but are very amusing to watch. The staff were very helpful when we changed rooms. Snorkling direct from the sandy beach was very good lots of little coloured fish and nice coral I spotted a reef shark and I swam with a turtle from the beach. The Hotel organised a very nice snorkel trip the best snorkling was around Rengis Island.

a gem of a resort”

location, admosphere, pool

I loved it, the resort was very friendly, we arrived in the evening and were greeted by the guy at the jetty to pick up our luggage and arrived with lots of cheerful chinese lantern lights . The chalet was close to the beach clean and well maintained. It had lots of hanging space for wet clothes on the patio. We loved the new pool. It was always partly in the shade and had a separate department for the diver practice. My 10 year old daughter did a practise hour diving with the instructor and me and the 7 year old could watch from the other pool.. If she was good enough she could do a sea dive in front of the hotel. She did very well and because they had enough time and wanted to make her first dive special they took her to renggis island instead of in front of the hotel on the plantoon and she saw a big sea turtle. Thank you dive instructor! The restaurant was divided in grill department on the beach and buffet just behind the beach in an open round roofed space. We took a bit of the buffet during the afternoons , but preferred to eat on the beach and so didn't take the buffet in the evenings, even though it did look nice and was well priced for what you got. The bay has a few nice snorkeling places . Some rocks on the left of the beach and an island where you can walk to with low tide. My kids did great treasure hunting there. Much better then at Berjaya. the resort also has a good shop for small food , ice cream and washing powder, shampoo etc, souvenirs that were actually cheaper then the ones we saw in Mersing. The only minus that we could find was the wifi internet which was non existent. You could internet at an internet place close by for 10 rm per day. and if you ordered food, make sure all your food is ordered and something is not forgotten. Most days something was missing. All in all a great place.

Nice location”

Paya Resort is located at the far left side of Kg Paya and very close to the jetty. We stayed at the ground floor beachfront chalet with the swimming pool right behind. This is a 2 storey chalet where the above can be occupied by other guests. We were concerned about the potential noise from above initially but it's absolutely fine. There are 2 double bed in the room and the room size is just decent. As we spent lots of time at the beach right in front of us, we would have preferred the resort to provide sandals for us to use in the room, as our room become sandy easily. This is a nice resort with facilities such as swimming pool, pool table and darts to spend time with. island hopping tours can be easily arranged just next to the reception. We found the tour rates here cheaper than outside the resort. Breakfast is rather disappointing with limited choices and very basic. We saw other type of chalets fronting the floating lake with nice lanscaping. We enjoyed the stay.

It was a very pleasant stay!”

We booked the hotel without knowing that it is monsoon season, thus we really do not know what to expect, especially after reading the reviews for Tioman during monsoon season are really bad. However when we arrived, the staffs are very friendly and helpful. Their service is really efficient and prompt. Especially our Tour Guide Mr David Ng. He provided us with lots of help and gave us really good suggestions and advices for our itinerary. He even took time off after his office hours to bring us around for local food as most of the shops are closed on the island during this season. During snorkelling, he also kept a look out for every single one of us, especially those who is not really good at swimming as he is really concern for everyone’s safety. As we were on the way to Mother Willow he also shared a lot of local stories and history. He is really a responsible tour guide! Overall we are really satisfied with Paya Resort. Highly recommend to stay there!

the beach is just in front of the hotel

The environment is nice. The room is very conducive. The staffs are friendly. The restaurant there serves tasty food with reasonable price. The price of the hotel is reasonable and affordable. The sea is just in front of our room. The view is awesome. The trip gave us a wonderful memories. We will definitely stay there again if go kampung paya in the future.

Very nice resort and super staff”

Due to the monsoon they changed my reservation to the following day with no charge!

Very friendly staff, great room with a good wifi connection. It was very quiet due to the seaon, so the breakfast was not so great. Could have used some fresh fruit. You can make some interesting walks from Paya - south to Kampung Genting or north - but that route is a bit more challenging. It is possible to snorkel from the beach as they have "their own little reef". The Tioman Golfcourse looks great and is reasonably priced.

Fantastic hotel and amazing beaches!”

Clean spacious room, well kept grounds, beautiful beach

Paya hotel is fantastic and right on an amazing beach. Wide variety of different rooms catering to various budgets. Tours are easily arranged in the hotel at the lobby for reasonable prices. Food was great although breakfast could have been better. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend Paya for anyone wanting to go to TIomen for a relaxing chill out holiday.

Value for money ”

Resort is near jetty (walking distance) They provide motorcycle to bring your big luggage to resort while you walk there. Along the walk from the jetty, there are shops and restaurants before you reach Paya Beach resort. Nice place to stay and enjoy the beach and snorkelling. You can walk to the far right side of the resort (small island), you can snorkel and see many life corals and fishes during low tide. No wifi in the bedroom. You can buy 1G of wifi for RM10 from hotel. I bought it but my room’s WiFi didn’t work. They didn’t refund me. Bedroom was not clean daily and there is no hair dryer and mini frig. The quadruple bedroom was big and next to the pool. We will come back again to enjoy the snorkelling.

Highly recommended!”

We have 2 young kids (8 & 5), are very new to any island, and with this COVID situation, we didn't know what to expect. But, Paya Beach Resort made all possible for us. After 3rd nights, both of my kids wanted to live in Tioman island because of their fantastic experiences.

Friendly and helpful staff but lack facilities”

Location of the resort is just beside the beach

My partner and I booked a room at the Superior Beach Front chalet at the Paya Beach Spa & Dive Resort for just a night. We love how it's located just beside the beach and the sound of the sloudging of the waves against the shore is probably one the most beautiful things to wake up to. However, on the night we stayed, there was a power trip and everything was switched off. The air con wasnt working and the night dragged on. We couldn't sleep because there were a lot of mozzies and we spent the entire night scratching the bites. It was very uncomfortable. When the power came back, it was already dawn and we have to check out at 10am. The staff should install phones in the room so that we could make requests without going down to the reception. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay there a lot and I think Tioman is an enticing island that we would probably want to visit again. The people there are extremely friendly and we felt really welcomed.
